Please, I’ve seen people with more than acceptable io fail at the most simple mechanics. It’s not that hard for people to pay for carries if they have gold. People with very high io’s you can probably count on but they probably wouldn’t join a mid key run to begin with. They have guilds and what not and pugging isn’t needed.
yes? I never claimed they didn’t.
that doesn’t change the fact that you’re more likely to have a better run if you bring experienced people.
none of this is 100%. any run can fail. that guy with 2300 io can be a potato. it’s about maximizing the chances of success.
I wish I was that strong, I honestly do.
I have seen a larger percentage of people with low ios who are bad than high io. That’s all this does. Gives a more educated guess.
Its all about taking your chances and simple math, coming in here and telling us your story of that 1 guy that played like crap despite his io doesnt change the fact that the higher io a guy has, better the chances of him performing.
If you have a key, once you list the group I don’t think there is much you need to do. There’s really no leading per se, no fight descriptions.
You get to pick your dungeon mates and see what happens. I can empathize with the stress - truly - but if it’s your key, you’re actually offering others a chance for loot.
Now, when I pug tank a key, that’s more stressful for me. I think to myself, “this isn’t my key to lose, it’s their key then they invited me. Better not make too many dumb pulls.” Thankfully I’ve got relatively good guild and friend-runs to lean back on for experience when I pug.
Tanks are lucky in that they can pick and choose just about any group they want. Alas I’m a mage and have no such luxury.
But yeah, I’m just afraid of ending up with a group that’s mean, harsh and toxic. Had plenty of groups like that and they’re never a fun experience, to the point where I just can’t bring myself to risk it. I tried to run with just a select few people that I trusted, but those people aren’t able to be counted on much anymore and I’m just kind of stuck now.
There is also the matter that M+ is just stressful and not really all that fun. I used to have friends that always wanted to run a bunch of M+ on a night, where I was happy just getting one a week for a chest. But that said I haven’t gotten a weekly chest the last three weeks. So I’m just kind of at a loss of what to do.
I wouldn’t say it’s luck as much as simply rolling a tank class. I posses no special tank ability (I can complete dungeons but I’m no Felinator, for example), you could very well rock one too!
There’s will always be reasons against doing something just as much as there will be reasons for doing something.
Along with the sunshine there’s gunna be some rain clouds. I hope you find some sunshine! (Do you play Alliance?)
Alas if mages had a tank spec I would gladly play it. But I like being part of the arcane world. They had the best class hall in Legion and Dalaran is my favorite city in the game, and I like playing a class that truly feels like it belongs there. None of the tank-capable classes in the game give me that fantasy feel.
Sadly no, stuck on the Horde.
Yeah. A battlemage class/tank spec would be really slick.
I’ve been away from Horde for a couple years; i don’t have any btag friends I could think of to hook you up with.
I hope you dont take this the wrong way but I think it is good you are not a tank for stress reasons.
I am pretty confidant in game but I still get a little stressed sometimes when im pulling a route in keys as a tank.
But “Mythic Raiders” are not the majority, they are a very tiny percentage.
Any leisure activity should entail what you enjoy doing. If you don’t enjoy M+, then why do it?
Raider io score is just a very quick metric that shows a persons general experience in M+.
Probably right there. I was trying it out on a leveling mechagnome but even that gets me nervous. Mainly because of DPS getting impatient with my preferred pace and taking it upon themselves to pull for me.
Because it is the only real source of gear and the effects of me not doing M+ quickly become obvious.
Makes me not want to raid since I will quickly start to look like a carry over time.
Makes me not want to PvP because who wants to just get eaten by everyone else due to being undergeared? I recently turned off warmode for the first time this expac for that reason.
Just not sure what to do anymore.
So you want high end gear but you don’t seem to have the ability to.
That’s life sometimes. I was never that good at FPS’s so never really got into them. And eventually I realized that MOBAs and RTS’s we’re beginning to get better than me so I stopped playing them as well.
I mean, how else am I going to be able to survive or keep up without gear in this game?
At least back in the day I could solo farm honor resilience and be able to stand up to people in PvP, but that’s no longer case.
Are you talking non-rated BGs? You still can with 445-460 gear which you can easily get from lower than 10 Mythics, WQs, and World Bosses. And some few people you’ll run into in non-rated BGs that have 475 ilvl won’t be head and shoulders above you in PvP.
Non-rated BGs and World PvP. If all I am getting is 445 gear and everyone else is getting 460 because they can actually land invites to M+ groups, I am simply going to get destroyed in any setting I try to step in to.
They put in the time and ability to get that gear. Should their extra effort not reward them?
I mean I get your frustration but the game doesn’t exist in a bubble and it wouldn’t be fair to those people if their gear meant no advantage.
That’d be like complaining about being attacked 2v1 and Blizzard demanding a system that only one person could attack you at a time even if those people had decided to group together.
Also - make your own groups. What M+ level are you signing up for?
I realize that, but the whole situation just kills my desire to even play anymore. I’m standing around watching everyone getting to do M+ but I can’t seem to land an invite from even my friends anymore.
Of course 2v1 happens in WPvP but I play an arcane mage and I consider it a victory when I escape those fights. As it stands, literally all I am doing is escaping and that’s not fun.
If I had the courage to form and organize my own groups, I would have done it already. I wish I had a regular group to run them with but I can’t seem to find that these days either.
