Undergeared characters lose a lot in any bracket

When I made my first twink back in the day it was 100% my intent to crush noobs. I had two cruel barbs with lifestealing enchants and I was on cloud 9.

Then as we got closer to bc, more and more twinks joined in on the fun on our server until it was mostly 7-9 twinks on each team in a 10v10 wsg. Those were the best games and the reasoning why I started twinking other characters. It became less about crushing noobs and more about countering other twinks. Rogues were hard countered by hunters. Warriors hard countered the hunters. If I queued into a bunch of rogue twinks, I would hop onto my hunter. If plenty of other twinks were queuing, I had a priest ready to go.

Fun times.

I would tell you to try playing without some gear, but we both know it doesn’t matter as much as players think.
Try playing with one eye shut? No more Naga mouse? Turn off add-ons?
Whatever conforms with the unwashed masses seems like a good fit.

“Twinking” in WoW is just a simplified version of endgame, with far less competition and nuance.

Other games have done it far better.

Twinking is impressive when there’s an actual level of difficulty above and beyond endgame gearing that justifies the unfair advantage a twink has over a normal player.

How above and beyond are Twinks allowed to be within the BFA system?
BFA has created the most balanced gearing system that has ever been implemented within World of Warcraft for lower levels.

Wait for classic launch and then maybe you will understand the beauty of BFA
scaling.

Accessibility to all is not unfair. No secret handshakes,
No reliance on a group carry.
Every advantage can be acquired by one single character.

Why can’t you just let them have their illusion?

The guy who built a house out of Lincoln logs has every right to call himself an architect.

What is the illusion?

There is no spoon.

Your comments would hold more weight if you actually had some experience on the matter. Lets be realistic here, you do not PVP much.
What makes you think anyone with basic PVP knowledge would even acknowledge you?

My dad built his house out of logs and bought the logs from a guy named Lincoln.

Was the Lincoln guy at least honest?

Both actually. He bought two old log houses and merged them into one.

He gets double points if he killed any vampires with a splitting maul.

I suppose what many people have a problem with is not twinking per se, it’s twink characters allowed into the general pool of levelers.

I guess on a personal level i don’t understand twinking. It is easier than ever to get gear (not that it even matters) at end game.

Why decide to play at 29? Or whatever level. Is it too many more abilities at max? What is it?
Q times are super fast at max (for alliance) so it can’t be that.

Is it to crush noobs (levelers)? Because if it is then i would still say then that the twinker is avoiding (equal) competition at end level and would prefer to pick on players.
And again if that is the point and you are ok with being a bully then fine.

PS i have no dog in this fight. I don’t level, twink, and i don’t care if others do. I was simply pondering the situation and wanted some input.

its to crush noobs, thats what twinking has always been about. they didn’t start with the “i do it for fun pvp at low levels” nonsense until they were given a separate bracket. but make no mistake, twinking is to pwn noobs. they don’t play at max level because they risk getting pwned themselves.

I can’t speak for everyone and I haven’t twinked in a couple of expacs. I started twinking after the xp on/off split. The 70 bracket was active and had a great community
it was nice to be able to play alts that I didn’t have to level each expac or regear each patch. That was the main appeal to me.

Must be nice to be all knowing

Thank you for the educated reply.
I respect and recognize intelligent theory crafting when I see it.

Every bracket in World of Warcraft has a history.
They are all different in many ways.
Tradition, Nostalgia, Community, there will always be a final x9 bracket with every new expansion near end game.
All of these brackets are fun competitive areas of WoW, which bring activity to this wonderful MMO.
People are playing!

I made my first twink so I could compete with them. My first bg on my cute little 20 something mage was getting slaughtered by rogues and hunters. I wanted some pay back so I decided to twink too. Eventually moved out of the 29 bracket and spent a lot of time in the 49 bracket before moving to 69 in Wrath.

Facing rival twinks was a blast and one of the best perks to twinking was no gear treadmill. You farmed your gear once and you were good to go.

I made a lot of good friends playing twinks too. Sadly most have quit the game over time.
