Unable to see guild chat

The guild interface shows me the guild finder and is also missing all the communities I am a member of.

I see the Guild MOTD and can do a /ginfo and it shows everything it should and according to other people in the guild I am on the roster. /groster shows me the old interface.

I have turned off all addons and restarted my computer too. I have also run a scan and repair.

As far as I can tell this is across every guild and server I have characters on.

Is there something else I should be trying?

Did you reset your UI (this is different than just turning off Addons)?

You can also check in the chat settings to make sure Guild Chat is enabled.

Does your bbet friends messages work?

I seem to recall the new guild interface., Communities, and bnet interface were all linked?

Been a long while though. However if something was misbehaving in one, they all did.

That works - I am able to chat with people from my friends list no problem, just nothing showing up in /g

Are you able to see guild chat in the actual guild interface itself, and you’re just missing guild chat from your general chat window?

I haven’t done that, it will be my next step.

I’m going to predict it doesn’t work since every time in the past that just turned out to be make work for whatever problem I was having.

edit. Exactly as predicted it didn’t fix the problem.

The guild interface shows me the looking for guild options.

Yes-ish… I would expect a disconnection from the social service to affect your Bnet friends, and communities as well as WOW guilds. But not your WOW friends list.

Sammy boy, is it just one character or all characters? Different guilds or all the same guild?

What about this?

Definitely a possibility and something worth checking when these symptoms are reported but it doesn’t appear to be the issue in this case.

My Bnet friends are still there.

It’s across both factions, multiple guilds and at least 2 servers. it’s happening on every character I log in to see.

If you type in guild chat, do others see it? Or do you receive an error?

Nope - just checked.

I don’t get any errors and I whispered a guild member to see if they could see it. they said no.

When I take control of one of your characters, I was able to send guild chat normally. So this is starting to look more localized or potentially connection related.

You wouldn’t happen to have another PC you could try on would you? Might be able to rule out any issues with the system your on.

OK that was weird - I’m assuming a GM just typed test in guild chat from my character while I am on an alt.

But I still can’t do anything. I exited the game - reset my UI again and logged back in on the character I saw them type on and still can’t talk in gchat.

I pull up the communities screen and it still shows me the looking for guild.

Correct

Another thing we can try is having someone remove you and readd you to the guild and see if that can force through an update.

I’ll be heading out for the day soon, and didn’t want to leave you wondering where the help went

If removing/readding doesn’t help, lets wait until after maintenance on Tuesday to see if the issue persist. That’ll mean all the guild members are offline and servers getting restarted. If something is stuck, restarts usually shake it loose.

I just logged into a separate account I haven’t used in forever.

I can see the guild interface on my level 1 alt just fine and can type and see guild chat.

One last thing - I tried to log into the parental controls like someone mentioned above. I log into my Blizzard account just fine but I can’t access parental controls.

I enter the code sent to my email it says ‘account not found’
