Hello Vraktris, it is preferable for the problem to escalate. I have seen several people with the same problem and there are people who have had no solution for more than 3 months. In my case, I no longer log into the account because I created a new one and it turns out that there is no I have no restrictions, otherwise it is possible to add even if it is 1 month and to another account and really, if it is the problem with the account, I prefer to upload a character from 0 again to not being able to talk to people from the brotherhood or friends
Thanks. Tried it, no change. Still cannot see any /s or /p or /i chat, and cannot use mail. Disable Chat is checked, and greyed out. Parental controls are now enabled, but all permissions are granted. And on my account settings, chat is enabled. I am at wits end over this, I cannot effectively do any non-trivial organized content without being able to communicate.
Have you tried disabling Parental Controls to see if that allows you to uncheck the ‘Disable Chat’ toggle?
Yeah, they both have. I’m not sure where the silence exists, as I didn’t see it when while on any of the characters. Even if this were only on Classic, the account has had paid game time on it, so that shouldn’t be active.
I’m going to poke around and see what I can find. This feels like a bug, which there should be something open on it, but I want to check.
Look, I know that neither the support nor the GM are to blame, but I’m really tired of continuing to send tickets after tickets or waiting for the problem to be resolved. I’m not going to die because I can’t play wow, I’ll just uninstall the game and hope not to come back. to play it because what I experienced in these almost 2 months was just stress, I couldn’t even play comfortably and I had the worst gaming experience possible, thank you very much for your time.
I totally get the frustration. That said, you made a post during one of the busiest times of the year looking for help, and now that you have Vrak on the case looking for a solution, you’re just throwing in the towel?
Why not wait and see what he comes back with instead? Otherwise, what was the point of making the thread and reaching out for help in the first place? I mean, it’s EXTREMELY rare that the blues here are able to go digging beyond what a GM is able to do.
When you get a four-hooved fly-powered blue like Vrak on your side, fighting to figure out the cause…that’s the best of the best right there
Either way, like I said, I totally get being frustrated and can understand that you’re at the end of your wits with this…but the centaur just got started. At least give him the chance to see what he can find.
I understand what you’re saying but it’s been 2 months and since day 1 I’ve appealed and waited at this point I give up because it really doesn’t interest me to play a social game like wow, and I think I’m not the only one with the problem and I’ve seen groups of people with the same problem on Facebook in Discord but well I’m still aware of whether they solved the problem but really, as I said, a social game without being able to access the chat is what the same as playing a single player and really to play a single player I’m going to play on the phone.
Vrakthris, thank you! I really appreciate you looking into this, as it is a bad problem.
I am not ready to give up, and I have submitted a bug report (a week or so ago) about the issue.
I was hoping that today my problem would somehow disappear after 26 days of subscription time used, thinking that it was somehow tied to the classic limitations, but unfortunately the problem persists.
Here are a couple of thoughts on things that might be relevant for you to know:
I have some very old toons on other realms, including ones from years ago that I have probably not accessed in years
I tried installing Classic and Cata Classic to see if those had the same issues, and they do. Surprisingly, some of my old toons exist on Cata Classic even though I have not recently created any – they are leftover toons from the actual Cata time period, I think.
When I purchased TWW, I may have logged in to my account beforehand, as soon as I renewed my subscription. Just wondering if the timing of when I renewed, or purchased TWW, may have somehow resulted in weird restrictions.
Thanks again, Vrakthris!
Any characters you created in actual Cata would be on your retail license. Blizzard didn’t go through and recreate users characters in Classic era realms. Only way for a character to be created is from you (or I guess someone accessing your account) at one point.
What likely happened is you had made those characters during Classic, BC, or Wrath classic and they just continued on their journey. Back before BC launched there was an option to keep your character behind and play on Classic era realms. If you didn’t specifically choose that option or chose nothing, then you character went along for the expansion ride.
That should only apply if you haven’t had any purchased game time since 2017. I checked both yours and Dieciochocm’s account already and neither of you would have that restriction.
It is possible that you did at one time and that is what is stuck on the account. I’m asking that be looked into. I’ll let you both know as soon as I get an update.
Any update on this?
I still have Disable Chat checked, and greyed out. Cannot see any chat channels, and cannot /s or /w or /i or see any chat in instances. It is really a bad experience.
Thanks.
Looking at the notes on the this there has been movement, but I don’t know how close they are to a resolution. It does look like it may require a patch to implement, so with luck it may be with 11.1.0.
Thanks. In the meantime, I have canceled my subscription, effective at the end of this billing cycle.
Can’t play the game this way, it’s just awful to try to do group content without being able to communicate with people.
Thanks, Vrakthris, for everything you did or tried to do.
I have been playing since Wrath. Kind of a crappy reason to have to leave, but hey, perhaps it’s just time. Maybe I will see if the bug is fixed in 11.1 (or…not)
Thanks for your patience, Greyh, I absolutely understand why you’d want to take a break while this issue persists.
While no patch milestone is guaranteed, the goal as far as I can see is 11.1.0. Hopefully, we’ll see you back when that drops. crosses fingers
Hi Greyh,
It does really suck not being able to chat as that’s a major component of social play (ergo, of playing an MMO), but I just wanted to say I really appreciate your levelheadedness throughout the process.
I wish you the best.
Fixed in 11.1! My chat is working, my Blacksmithing business has started back up, and I am looking forward to Season 2. Might even join a guild.
TY everyone for your suggestions, and especially Vrakthris for the “official” updates and for helping keep the bug on track for getting fixed.
See you all in game!
Huzzah! That’s great to hear, Greyh! Sorry it took so long, but I’m glad they were able to get the fix implemented.
