Hello, good morning. I’ve been playing for more than a month and a week, but I haven’t been able to change the social settings, specifically the window that allows me to enable chat. I don’t know if it’s a bug or something similar, but I’ve contacted support countless times and haven’t been able to find a solution. If there’s a developer or someone who has had the same problem and managed to solve it, please respond.
The button appears greyed out and cannot be modified.
Silly question, but the person who is registered for the account is 18 or older?
Hello, there are no stupid questions, if I am the owner, I am 24 years old and parental control is deactivated.
Looking at this character, I’m not seeing any restrictions. Granted, the character is currently dead so cannot talk, but I’m not seeing any social restrictions checked.
It does look like parental controls were recently removed, but it sounds like you tested it after they were and are experiencing the same thing.
Have you done a full UI reset yet? I would try just a chat reset first, but if that doesn’t work give the UI reset a try.
Use the following command in game for the chat reset.
“/resetchat”
Hello, thank you for your response, I tried deleting the cache by resetting the interface by changing my account password and none of them enabled the option again, I have to say that on day 2 of playing classic fresh it let me talk for an hour on all the channels but when I came back to relog it restricted me again, I also deleted the “Addons” I also tried 1 x 1 in case the problem was caused by someone but it is not the game itself, I uninstalled and reinstalled and it wouldn’t let me believe me a new account and everything was fine, he let me talk and I bought the sub and he let me talk on all channels without restriction, my account is the only one that has the restriction despite having met all the requirements.
When was the last time you checked this, because I was just looking at the character and I’m not seeing any restrictions.
I was able to use Say without any issues. Are you currently getting any errors?

As the gm told me, the developers have to see that. The truth is, I don’t know that a gm can’t see that, but well, I make my post in this forum looking for more than help, hope. I have been playing for 2 months thinking that I could play like everyone else, but this problem. It persists and when I wanted my refund they flatly rejected it.

Tickets aren’t typically right out deleted.
It’s more likely that you didn’t finish the submitting process. Make sure you reach the point where you receive a ticket confirmation number.
No, this post hasn’t been deleted. I created a new post just in case this one got deleted, but I still can’t find a solution to my problem. I also tried on another computer, and the problem persists. It’s not just on my computer.

Is your character still dead?
Did you do a full UI reset? The steps you posted are not a proper reset.
I understand that it might seem silly, but I have already checked it before testing and have followed the steps twice, just in case I made a mistake in one. However, the problem persists. The issue is that it doesn’t allow me to change the chat settings.
I’m referring to the ticket you said was deleted.
I have the exact same problem. Sorry I have no solution, but at least you know it’s not just you.
I returned to game after several months off, and then had parental controls removed from the account the same as you. (I have them on usually, to help me limit my playtime, but I am well over 18.)
I have reset chat, reset the UI, removed all addons, and done a clean install of the game. Disable Chat on the Social tab is checked and greyed out, and I can’t change it. Chat is enabled on Privacy and Communications on battle.net website.
My wife can chat fine on her computer, but when I login to my account on her computer, I have the same problem. So all signs point to this NOT being a client side issue.
I have opened two tickets and support has verified repeatedly that there are no restrictions on my account.
I too am open to any suggestions but for now I submitted a bug report and am just waiting.
In the meantime, I cannot really participate in any organized content, which is not very fun or satisying. If it doesn’t get resolved soon-ish, I will probably just quit the game.
For WoW there are TWO sets of controls for chat, maybe three if you count Parental controls toggling 1 and 2 for you. One is at the Battlenet level where you have the ability to turn Battlenet text and chat on and off. The second is the actual WoW chat system which is separate from Battlenet.
I think Parental controls turns BOTH off so neither can be used.
Something to try is toggling both off, then on. Maybe with a full relog between.
I think you know where to find the Batlenet controls under Account Management text chat.
The other is in the Options menu in-game. See if that is toggled and try poking it. You can also try /resetchat in the text box if that an available.
Greyh, can you try enabling your Parental Controls and checking your communication settings there? That’s the only thing that I can think of, is that you are set for it to be disabled, even though removal of them should have cleared that.

My issue persists with the image you sent earlier. The box that wasn’t checked now appears checked, and the bar is grey. As I mentioned before, I have everything enabled in Battle.net to be able to chat, but I still need to uncheck the box to enable the chat. I’m not sure if it can be modified manually.
You may receive a couple of notices about your parental controls, Dieciocho, I was checking those to see if you had any setting that might have got stuck.
The problem here is when I’m looking at your account, when logged into your character, I’m not seeing that chat option as checked. Whatever it is, seems to be something on the account level that I can’t normally see.
The only suggestion I have is, if this is persisting, you might want to continue your dialog with our staff. They may have to have the issue escalated.
