Uhhhh hey guys

We could probably delve deeper into what constitutes “the enemy” here since the Crusade joined together with the Ebon Blade to form the Ashen Verdict, muddying the waters on what was otherwise a black and white situation. Simply being undead isn’t grounds for extermination when the Forsaken and Death Knights are allies in the fight against Arthas and the scourge (who were the real enemies, remember?)

I think the religious zealots you’re looking for are the Scarlet Crusade (who actually do more closely resemble your definition of the Argents) or the Brotherhood of the Light- two groups that, while similar, are different in key ways. The Scarlets considered all who weren’t with them to be against them- that, along with what I mentioned earlier about a totalitarian top-down approach to society and economy, make them the real fascist group here. The Brotherhood deserves a mention because they’re at least a more militant arm of the Argent Dawn and likely would have viewed turning on their Undead friends after Arthas’ downfall as par for the course.

But the Argent Crusade isn’t unbending in either of those senses. Tirion was an outcast who came back to set things right and knew that living up to realistic interpretations of the Light’s virtues meant making hard choices and new alliances, even if that broke with prior rigid protocol. It wouldn’t make any sense at all for the Argents to turn around after Arthas was dead and declare war on the Horde, especially in the wake of Deathwing and every other threat that came around until Tirion’s death.

Shall we change the subject to something a little less controversial and a little more joyful? Like how amazing and cool and hot I am

My eye is twitching reading all this.

Also the Tuskarr are fascist.

Whatever arguments made against me as proof of harboring fascist ideologies and behavior are unequivocally and blatantly false, as any true fascist would deny under the guise of freedom and democracy

That’s transphobic. They fascist too

I was being silly but let me see if I can.

So, let’s start with the obvious. The Tuskarr pay you to kidnap the enemy Wolvar’s children so that they can be raised under Tuskarr authority and according to Tuskarr values. If that isn’t unnerving to you now, replace “Tuskarr” with Humans or Orcs and “Wolvar” with Orcs or Night Elves. Both are pretty unsettling.

So we already know that the Tuskarr consider their way of life to be superior and to enforce it upon another species they consider themselves to have authority over.

“But the Wolvar are trying to wipe them out!” you say. But don’t many fascist organizations justify their abhorrent actions with a pretext of being aggressed upon? Think about it.

But fascism is usually installed by and holds power through violence, right? And the Tuskarr are a fairly peaceful lot, at a glance. But when you look deeper, you realize they’ve been enacting violence this whole time.

Through us.

We were paid to kidnap their foes. We were paid to ensure that the fate of a people were placed in their enemy’s hands. We were praised for it. Lauded for it.

It’s us. We’re the tools of fascism.

Hard to argue with that logic

Gwyneth is cool. I like that she uses the Darkshore Warfront mog now instead of that wood one from Shadowlands. We should all take a moment to admire her

The hero of one person’s story is the villain of the next’s.

Honestly, I do love the hypocrisy because its such a fun thing to bounce characters off when they do get the chance (or are forced to at spear-point) talk to each other and ask the question of “Is this person an idiot? A propaganda machine? Or am I the monster here?” and change their world-view, even if only slightly. And it puts a splinter into the character’s mind, that every time they are doing the thing, there’s that tiny little voice going “But what if you’re wrong?” and “This is only going to cause more pain.” in the back of their mind.

And how each individual character reacts to that ‘splinter’ is so much fun to write!

Gwyneth is very not cool, and you are a crypto-fascist for suggesting otherwise.

I think I just got some fascist on my shoe from stepping in this thread.
