they said that a long time ago, not recently. parent companies always hold power over what they own.
They literally said it during BFA’s content cycle, when someone claimed Activision-Blizzard was ruining Blizzard.
Generally speaking, most companies will immediately fire anyone who has so much as a whispered rumour between 3 people of doing something the Cancel Culture would activate their powers over. So, not necessarily. I feel like the world is more afraid of Twitter and that whole crowd than they are interested in applying adult solutions. Easier to just “cancel” the person and move on.
Edit; I’m not saying the people in question now are innocent, I don’t know enought o even theorise, just that the whole “do a thorough investigation and make an informed decision” has been replaced with “Well the Twitter loudmouths and their ilk hate them, guess we’ll fire them!”
I reflexively said “Exodus 21” because I thought of the bible.
If you’re curious, look up an early example of Hollywood cancelling someone - read about Fatty Arbuckle. It’s an interesting and very sad story.
“They’re the same picture.”
Maybe someone will make an addon that forces the game to use the original actor.
