did you not play the questline, the fleet returns to darkshore, and even then they could not stop the horde blitz
That wasn’t the full fleet. It was a skeleton force that left late and thus was able to return early… It was very small.
if you choose to hold onto a childishly naive view, that is your problem
Believing that there is good in the world isn’t naïve.
So, the burning of our capital city, the death of countless Night elves, and the loss of our land isn’t a disaster? That it was in fact a disaster for the Horde? You need to tell other night elf players. They seem to be under the mistaken belief that our people deserve revenge.
It was a disaster, but a civilian one. Not much of a military disaster for the Night Elves. It was, however, a military disaster for the Horde. It was a much more difficult endeavor than they expected.
You need more than an army to fight a war. You need food to feed your army, weapons and armor to equip your army, ships to protect your shipping lanes. Most importantly, you need a civilian economy with the population and infrastructure to produce these things. After the War of Thorns, the Night elves have a much reduced population, and no infrastructure to speak of. We can’t win a knock down drag out fight with the Horde. Not alone, we can’t.
not really, the night elves fought in vain because in the end they were completely defeated, and now their dead like delaryn is going team forsaken
Night Elves are one with nature. They can live off the land, druids can grow food and create water in an instant.
Night Elves, again, get what they need from nature itself. Have you ever seen a Night Elf Mine? No, you have not.
It’s a guerilla War fought in land locked territory.
Night Elves do not have these restrictions.
Debatable. I don’t think they are truly loyal to Sylvanas, and more likely going to overthrow her, much like she did to Arthas.
We live off of land which is now being occupied by the enemy. Specifically, by Goblins and Undead, two races infamous for environmental destruction and deforestation. Counting on the ability of the Night elves to get food, make weapons, etc. by living off the land, while also constantly moving around (as a guerrilla war requires) is foolish. You don’t do your economic production on the frontlines of war. I like the Night elves as much as the next guy, but even they can’t pull this one off.
Are you telling me they have completely deforested Northern Kalimdor? lol
Historically, both IRL and WoW history… it has a pretty good track record.
They have before.
correct me if i am wrong but wasn’t taurajo destroyed as a response to garrosh aggression in ashenvale? i think that there was a tweet about that.
Honestly, blizzard did a bad job at organizing the order of events here. Its possible, but it makes the beginning of Tides of War super weird. Like Jaina being surprised Northwatch has been attacked… Which was already happening in Cata….
IRL guerrilla fighters generally subsist off of food provided to them by the local population, and use weapons given or sold to them by a third party. The Viet Cong weren’t manufacturing AK 47’s in their tunnels. They were getting their weapons shipped to them by North Vietnam, China, the Soviet Union etc.
The Night elves are peerless warriors. The best all-around fighters on Azeroth, in my opinion. But to expect them to single-handedly defeat a superpower like the Horde, after having already been defeated by the Horde, is fantasy. We beat a portion of the horde military while Teldrassil was intact, and providing us with supplies. Even then it was a close thing. Ashenvale was pretty messed up during Cata. I’m just saying; the Alliance can help us. They want to help us. Genn, in particular, really really wants to help us, and he is Anduin’s closest advisor. I think we should work with our allies to defeat the Horde and secure the future of our people.
No, the viet cong weren’t manufacturing AKs. Good thing Night Elves are not so restricted.
They weren’t really defeated by the Horde… the Horde used General Custer tactics… slaughtering civilians when the Braves were away. We all know what happened to him.
Ok, maybe you know more about Night elf lore then me. So explain exactly how Night Elf craftsman is going to be making weapons in Darkshore. Here is the problem as I see it:
I’m in Darkshore, attached to a group of sentinels. I don’t really know much about fighting, or warfare, but I’m here to make weapons for the night Elf military, because there isn’t really any where else I can live, since we left the Alliance. I’ve been working on this bow. It takes time, cause I’m really more of an artist then a industrial worker, and I have to scavenge for my materials, being careful not to be caught by the Horde. One day, a sentinel comes running to our camp. She says that the Horde is coming, to blight the surrounding area, and we need to leave. In my haste to pack up my things, I leave some crucial tools behind, setting back my efforts by weeks. I would much rather be doing this from the safety of stormwind, but oh well. Who needs those lousy humans anyways.
That’s why you don’t make weapons on the front lines of war.
Friendly reminder that logistics has never and will never matter in Warcraft. The same goes for travel time, economics, birth rates, etc.
My opinion on whether the Alliance cares about the Night elves or not has been tainted during Cata by two particular events.
- When The Bomb is seen flying to Stonetalon by hot air balloon, one of the gnomes that the Night elves ask for help from immediately makes fun of them.
- A wounded human soldier being taken care of by Night elf caretakers states that the elves’ attempt to save Stonetalon are pointless and tells the Alliance character to head to the Barrens because that’s the important battlefield.
So yeah, forgive me if I feel like there’s a little lack of appreciation from the rest of the Alliance.
I never quested through Stonetalon, because the final questline in Ashenvale bugged out on me. But judging the entire Alliance by the words of two soldiers is a little bit fallacious. I mean, if we judge all Night Elves by Azshara’s actions, or Fandral’s actions, or Maiev’s actions, we start to look like jerks as well.
It’s not really specified how Night Elves get their metal. But we do know Druids have magically crafted wooden weapons with sharp edges. Considering the bulk of Kaldorei military strategy is hit and run tactics with bows and arrows… arming themselves on the field of battle won’t be difficult.
