I love how the extreme whinning of night elf players got them 3 things that no one else would have ever gotten , their souls being saved in ardenweal , Ysera being rezzed and them getting the writters to crap on horde players and they still arent happy and keep on whinning
That happens when unprofessional people are picked, so Blizzard is really at fault here
Indeed, excess just kill any believe and credibility a story can have unless it’s satirical on its own nature but WoW isn’t(though slowly becoming into that)
Indeed, fully agree with this. In fact this is why the first book of Asoiaf is still the favorite as every plot and narrative resource was used perfectly that only makes the next books being more enjoyable at seeing the threads evolve.
Man, Blizzard really needs to depend less in references about pop culture and actually plan out their lore. It’s not even hard which makes it more irksome how far they’re falling
Although Blizz will never let us talk back to Alliance NPCs, getting them to grovel for help (Like Vol’jin had to for Alliance PCs), I’ve simply settled for creating a mental scenario to help me cope with the idiocy.
Shandris can spout her nonsense. My Zandalari would simply have thrown back the crimes Elves have inflicted on Trollkind. If whacky retcons are to be believed, Shadris herself helped defeat the Amani during the Troll Wars. He’ll help her and Tyrande, not because the Elves mean anything to him, but because he can use them to save Loa.
Tyrande’s rude spiel though? Probably giving her the finger and making faces while she’s not looking.
How does that work, exactly? Trolls only have two fingers and a thumb.
I sometimes wonder how freaked out the dark trolls were at the first elves with their freaky FIVE fingers and toes per hand/foot and lack of tusks.
Assuming Trolls use their middle finger as a substitute for their pointer finger as well, very few people can actually tell when we’re being rude or just pointing at that neat bird in a tree.
Very cool bird isn’t it?
The hate wouldn’t be so bad if I could tell her to f*ck off. (Why doesn’t this auto-censor anymore?)
I’m expecting this to happen, but since Ardenweald’s overarching covenant story seems to be about how Tyrande is needed to save the entire nature realm, I expect that would basically resign the zone at large to be alliance credit.
I feel like (and purely subjective interpretation) it was a bit more than just trusting Bolvar’s will. At first, yes, absolutely it was that. But then seeing the Horde champion fighting beside her, the rescuing souls bit, when we finally corner Tyrande and make her talk to Shandris, Shandy’s not begrudgingly telling Tyrande to just not kill us. She’s advocating for us based on our recent actions. “I didn’t trust them at first either, but I watched them fight crap and save souls, so maybe give 'em a chance mom!! Stop picking on my edgy friends, I wanna hang out with the bad girl from Silvermoon!!”
But again, just the feel I personally got and not necessarily the intent.
If I remember right, she’s only surprised that you’re able to pokeball souls and that, along with you knowing the way out of the maw, are the only reasons why she’s speaking up on your behalf. She just needs to use you to get the night elf spirits out.
…Are you telling me that is an Alliance only arc? And exclusive to Fae?
I hate this expansion pack.
Here I am stuck in !@#$ing Bastion. This zone is terrible and the story is terrible.
Oh, no. both factions get it, but it is part of the Nightfae covenant campaign yeah. I just meant when I did it as Alliance on beta it was super awkward as it felt like this was just not written for me to do. I am just doing because the game needs to fill in space.
I don’t know why you would complain about that, Bwonsamdi is literally one of the only interesting, well written and superbly voice acted characters in World of Warcraft.
I am entirely jealous.
Have you seen what happens with Uther? Like, have you seen it? It’s disgusting. Be happy you didn’t see it.
Not complaining at all. Bwon is a great character, and I quite like him. It just felt like it was not written for my night elf druid. It was written more for Horde players, specifically for trolls, as they have close story connections.
The night warrior quest arc for its part feels like it was written for alliance, or more specifically for night elves. Which is why everyone else feels a bit awkward doing it.
There’s nothing wrong with that. I like Ashenvale and I like certain aspects of the nelves. I enjoyed playing their camp in Warcraft 3 and playing with them online.
I don’t necessarily want a game that’s cordoned off to the two factions because I don’t want to make an Alliance toon just to enjoy core elements of the story. There needs to be a certain degree of common elements and common experiences for each player faction even as there is unique flavor elements for both.
The weird thing for me is I don’t know who Tyrande really is right now, my understanding of her character basically ends with Legion and that weird cinematic where she kills Nathanos. I want to know who she is and why as much as you do. It’s actually more frustrating to me because I missed the War of Thorns prepatch event. That’s the type of thing you want to be able to experience, even if they make it a Caverns of Time deal.
I’m not a troll either and don’t necessarily jive with their lore, but this is a good one and I want to hunker down with some popcorn and enjoy it. De Other Side was dope. Funny, entertaining, interesting lore elements, good voice acting, just good clean content that is multiple cuts above most of the stuff I’ve played in this game. It’s always a pleasure running that dungeon.
Then why are we helping Tyrande free night elf souls?
And if it’s because we are the good guys… why did we send them there in the first place?
It’s poor writing, nothing more nothing less.
That is bull and you know it. Tyrande was at the very least willing to let the Horde keep Aszhara and end the bloody conflict if it meant the Horde would leave Ashenvale alone.
Then she was repaid in genocide. I would be done too
Ah yes, the whining of night elf players. How ridiculous of them to… not want their favorite race to be depicted as a proverbial whipping boy for the Alliance and to not want the souls of the thousands dead to go into eternal torment.
Altogether unreasonable.
Nelf players never asked the writers to “crap on horde players”. They, altogether, probably don’t give a damn about what Horde players do or think so much as they care how the narrative makes them into ineffectual kittens who have all the tactical sense of a 3 year old. Thousands of years knowing every rock, burrow, tree, and bush in the forests and training to do nothing but defend their homes, but somehow the Horde one-ups them in their own territory-- not just once, but consistently.
She’s still dead, and eternally bound to Ardenweald. She can’t go back to Azeroth the same way she could have if there wasn’t an anima drought, as a being of nature. Not sure that counts as being rezzed any more than Garrosh is “rezzed” in that he’s a soul in Revendreth.
You are aligned with the faction that burned a tree full of men, women and children alive, why should she treat you with anything less but contempt and hate?
I don’t think the horde players should be treated bad because of Teldrassil.
There would need to be a lot of adjustments to make a decent narrative for a horde character helping Tyrande.
Ideally, there would be another questline for horde players, but assuming it will spawn for weeks and hours of content ahead, i can see how they couldn’t do that.
