Tyrael's Charger now on the Battle Net Shop

I have seen the glory of sleigh mount…nothing will ever again compare…

That applies to promotional contests. This was offered as part of a package deal just like the mounts you see offered with the six month subscriptions or the mount pack for the 12 month subscription that Blizzard recently started up. It isn’t quite comparable to the Warlord’s Death Wheel situation.

Like the current special 12-month subscription offer, Tyrael’s Charger originally required a 12-month subscription to WoW up front. In exchange for that you got the mount and the base version of the original Diablo 3 included as a perk. Additionally anyone that had purchased the Annual Pass (the 12-month plan mentioned here) that also then purchased the D3 CE and redeemed it on the same account as the Annual Pass was credited with four months of WoW game time, equivalent to the cost difference between the base version of the game (which they got for free) and the CE itself.

The ones that are truly going to benefit here are those like me that suffer misophonia, a condition where certain sounds or the inability to fully hear all of a particular sound due to hearing loss triggers a negative emotional response or anxiety (in my case water drops whose volume is too low to fully hear makes me absolutely batsnot insane). Tyrael’s Charger scores the mount trifecta for many players: Cool looking, compact (doesn’t block half your screen like, oh, I dunno…dragons), and it makes no noise during flight. Until I got the Tazavesh mount thanks to a gifted M+ hard mode run, I used Tyrael’s Charger almost exclusively because of that trifecta, but especially for lack of sound.

Fun fact: Flapping sound and contrails are why I don’t use the Ashes of A’lar that I worked so long for. It’s pretty, but the sounds and my view being blocked by the contrails were a deal breaker. :frowning:

I wish people could get that and Rhok’delar + Benediction/Anathema still. I have the latter of the three and wouldn’t be offended in the least if someone else got the appearance. IMO they really need to bring back the lost content from vanilla into a Chromie Time-esque setting. Those quests using scaling could retain their challenges while giving the player something enjoyable to earn.

IDK about the fuggly horse, but the new phoenix set looks amazing.

I wasn’t thinking about that so wasn’t making that comparison at all. I just figured that was a legal reason for why they couldn’t offer it for sale before now. Was just guessing, in any event, so was quite prepared for being wrong

Somehow, this mount isn’t shown in the Mounts tab in game, so I can’t see how my character would actually look on it. I’m hesitant to buy it until I can see that. :unamused:

Some of the promotional (i.e. FOMO) mounts are like that. The Stormwind Skychaser for example is one of those you can’t search for in the mounts tab unless you got it when it was available.

You can use the Wowhead Mount Tracker to view what the mount looks like in-game. It won’t have your character on it, but it provides a fully 3D rotatable view of the mount so you can see it in action.

Another specialized horse mount for my collection.

Why cannot this mount be gifted?

Yah was so excited to gift this to a friend!!! Then confusion :frowning:

Okay, but it’s available now, so… I’m so confused. I’m trying to use wowhead to see what I want to see, but that’s not really going well either.

Yeah, what I was looking for was the interaction between the character and the mount when it runs or flies. So many of the mounts look great until you actually use them, and then they’re hot garbage. Most of the older ones are okay though, and I’ll probably just wait to get it anyway, considering that the character I wanted to use it with is in DF now, and of course, can’t use it there to fly.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Here’s my shadow priest on the mount with the glyph: https://imgur.com/gallery/AZBQSh1

At least most people are okay with it being brought back, just bought mine a little while ago, it was awesome.

Then there are the few people that are like “Nuuuuu, I felt special, you took away my uniqueness by letting people buy a mount! Curse you Blizzard and your little dog too!”

Now this I can get behind

Yeah they had their lawyers digging deep to find a work around for sure…cause they stated years back it was the only way to get this mount was to do the 1 yr contract to stay in game…guess they found something.

I wouldn’t wait. This mount is only available until January 2, 2023 according to the Wowhead Holiday Sale article. Notice the singular * alongside the Tyrael’s Charger entry. That refers to this note at the end of the article:

I have the mount from the original promotion and I’m perfectly happy with the mount becoming available.
If there’s a trend of “this is a bonus that’ll be made available a little later” say, 2-3 months maybe, it gives time to enjoy a fancy and unique mount for a time while not barring those who missed out. Years is too long.
Dismantle the fomo, one at a time imo.

Nice. Now others can get it.

I wonder if it was re-rendered and upscaled. I guess I could pull mine out and see…

I doubt it. Resource-wise it’s much more likely to have simply had its Spell ID linked to via the shop. I wouldn’t mind it getting a revamp, especially the wings animation which bothers some people (it doesn’t work the same as most other mounts wings of this type do).

What would have been super cool would have been both a revamp and an additional offer of a multi-pack of these in various color schemes to match your character’s transmog better. That would have sold like hotcakes.
