Player-made content doesn’t get boring nearly as quickly, particularly where there’s multiple players involved. It’s dynamic and never the same twice, unlike games like WoW where the bulk of the content is developer-made. You can slap multipliers and modifiers on dungeons but they’re ultimately the same old dungeons.
It’s kind of like the difference between watching sitcom reruns vs. live TV.

It’s weird how this is always used as an argument against video games but never anything else. I could apply the same line of logic to sports. Why do we watch sports when we could just play the sports ourselves?
The answer is because it’s fun and that’s as good of a reason as any.
A game being stylized does not mean it’s bad. Minecraft doesn’t have bad graphics. It has a style.
We finally got a fancy tv this year and we got some general channels with it. There’s an entire channel dedicated to Minecraft… maybe the analytics are linked. Still surprised Minecraft is popular enough for a channel.

What many people fail to understand about Minecraft is that it’s not just a survival game. At this point, Minecraft is more metaverse than it is a genre game. You can have whatever skin you want, there are endless amounts of game modes from Pokemon to PvP-based content to full-fledged RPG/RP/social sim servers, and there’s no shortage of mods that allow you to craft the experience you want.
I think people who think Minecraft is boring are people who think Minecraft is the same game it was 10 years ago when it first released.
Moded Minecraft is insanely popular because there is almost no limit to the things you can build or the world you can create and explore.
Because twitch isn’t region locked and can be viewed globally. 400k seems low imo for how vast MC is these days but then again i havent been on twitch since DrDisrespect got ban.
Some people enjoy watching people make or like making creative builds.

either that, or the younger generation grew-up with it, so it would make sense they’d want to watch minecraft.

The size of the blocks are huge in relationship to the player character, and they’re all relatively uniformly square. I submit that Minecraft is more like Duplo than Lego.
Hilarious how people think that just because twitch has a video vector for broadcasting content that must mean that’s why people are there.
Accept you don’t entirely know what others like, while not making assumptions and just move on.
Because it’s awesome? Not everything has to be edgy.
Because Minecraft(MC) is also the best selling video game of all time, due to how it works in its unlimited nature and mod support to keep it alive forever. A lot of people will say “kids”, but that isn’t factually true, many adults watch their fav streamers PVP on MC or play hunger games on MC, or play with 200 mods hard playthrough…its a truly unlimited game. Players have made working computers and computer games with redstone in MC.
Another aspect is speedrunning. People love to watch speedrunners.
because minecraft is a genuinely good game that people enjoy and or the streamers are entertaining.
I know it was edgy and cool for a while to say minecraft sucked because kids liked it, but it’s honestly a fun enough game. It’s not toxic like league, or as sweaty as wow so it simply appeals to a wider audience.
