which means you would have had to farm reg heriocs valor and jp right? and there was a cap right? so getting full geared in 1 night, was not an option. And we are talking about pre ds opening, like we are at rn, 1 day out. You would be able to afford 2 upgrades this week via the old system.

so fun fact and simple google search will show this. needed 372 for first wing of raid finder, needed 365 for twilight dungeons. Tell me exactly how you would have been able to get to either of those ilvls in og cata? Heriocs dropped 346. There were no protocols. So, you bought boes, which you had to farm for. And find groups for the older raids to get to the newer ones. Simple google search will show you, that youâre wrong and so was the other guy. With farming valor (thru herioc dungeons) and justice points (thru herioc dungeons) would be able to get at max, 3 pieces of useful gear to boost your ilvl a week. But again, the major point, the roadblock was the 346-365 gap if you had done no t11 raiding. Which is what we are discussing. Not stepping foot in a raid. Would have been alot harder than it is now. By a long shot. A fresh 85, in OG cata, would in no way shape or form, be anywhere near the ilvl req for not only HoT dungeons, but the 372 ilvl for first wing of raid finder.
we are talking about the fact is not realistic to get to 365 in 1 night on an alt in og cata.
edit not even an alt actually, a fresh 85, sub 300ilvl going from 300 to 365 in one sitting/1 week impossible as you dont have any mains to feed an alt Valor boes.
you can get full 378 from spamming âRandom Hour of Twilightâ dungeons in OG cata, (in Classic, the 3 dungeon in mixed into Twilight protocol)
Supplement it with some 378 justice gear, in which you can get 2 fireland sets
oh and i think the questlines that tells you to go do End Time, WoE and HoT gives like 2-3 378 gear overall.
and u needed 365 ilvl to q for them. so againâŚnot possible to go from FRESH 85 to 365 in one sitting.
skimming back, it looks like youâre the only one actually specifying 1 night to me. Of course thatâs not feasible, but a week certainly is unless you could only play a couple of nights a week

i was resonding to ikanide or whatever his name is, when i said the mentality is pure entitlement in this version of cata. Itâs supposed to be a catchup dungeon. Yes, a catchup from last tiers raid. Not for a fresh 85. And said in og cata it wouldnt have been possible to just skip to this high of ilvl in 1 night. And his response was, LFR. So i pointed out the facts.
Theyâre nerfed already lol
When I did SFK before, the 1st boss did his ability where he stuns the group and everyone falls to 1 HP but at the same time the oozes spawned and the dark ooze spawned Faceless Ones and they just went around 1 shotting everyone lol

Hold on let me cook.
You can be min ilvl for reg heroics the moment you hit 85 with very little effort.
Reg heroics drop 346 gear and feed JP which has no cap that you can use to buy 3 pieces of 378 tier, bracers, ring, neck, and a thrown weapon. You can also use that same JP to fill in the remaining slots with 359 from T11 JP covering boots, trinket, ring, and cloak. In the process of doing this you will cap valor for the week and obtain 1 397 piece.
You can supplement or skip all of the above by queuing bgâs and getting ruthless glad gear of 390 ilvl, plus if you do your arena games for conquest cap, atleast 1 or 2 pieces of 403 ilvl gear.
As a reminder, you only need 365 to get into the 3 twilight heroics. Dungeons that also drop 378 gear, arenât very hard, have quest rewards of 378 ilvl.
If you canât manage to reach 365 in a sitting youâre not playing long enough.
And anyway, my WHOLE POINT about the systems failure as a catch-up mechanism, stems from the fact that cata classic is on an accelerated timeline. We do not have a year of dragon soul before mists of pandaria pre patch is out. Right now itâs mostly tuned correctly, following the hp adjustments of oozes and the faceless ones, itâs a lot more reasonable to do at the ilvl threshold.
Obviously, thereâs still issues, SFK first boss is a good example of this. But if you genuinely think getting from fresh to twilight dungeons (btw as a reminder this had a separate queue before so you could actually spam these if you wanted for easy 378 gear) was some impossible task even in original cata youâre lost. I did it on my warrior who Iâd dropped to play dk at the start of cata.
Iâm 368 on my alt with 0 397 equipped, 0 pvp gear equipped (conquest or otherwise), 0 boes bought (though I will take the L on my 359 shield from archeology farming during prepatch on my main I suppose), still wearing 2 346 trinkets, 7 359 pieces. 372 to enter LFR is 1 397 valor piece and 1 378 ring away for me, which I have in my bag for my dps set. 22 hours 38 minutes /played at 85.
Final edit: my alt is 385 and raiding dragon soul with only 4 items below 384. See you lads on the other side
you could do it in a night. you could do it in maybe 2 hours
twilight protocols are buns nobody really wants to grind this lazy bs content just nerf it pls so we can go fast and end it asap

In OG cata you ran heroics for justice and valor, got to 365 and swapped to lfr and the new 5 mans.
You could be in lfr in a day from fresh if you tried, I did it on an alt
People out here like âoh I geared in a dayâ. Yeah good for you having lucky rolls against the people that carried you. Some of us have piss poor luck and need to buy the tier with frags if we want them this year.
I ran enough heroics to buy 8 total items from the vendor. Getting lucky to obtain gurthalak as a drop saving me 100 frags. (I obtained 3 btw)
And I was tanking, as a prot warrior, nobody was carrying me. You are not carrying a bad 353 prot warrior through these.
They are tuned for 353 provided;
- People can play their class at a reasonable level
- People arenât in PVP blues
- Some level of gems and enchants are on their gear
- People respect mechanics of the Protocol and bosses
Unfortunately if not all 4 are met, which is quite common in the RDF world, then yeah, it will feel undertuned.
If you arenât doing at least those 4 things, donât queue. Just because blizzard lets you, it wonât stop other players from calling you out and (rightfully) kicking you.
Just because you can queue into something it doesnât entitle you to be there. Some level of effort needs to be applied.

Most of the bad warr tanks are DKs now 
A dk in blues is easier to heal than a warrior in purples. just is. the difference between the classes is night and day on bosses. thankfully, prot warrior is so much better at handling trash that i can mostly make up for it, by being an entire group worth of cc/interrupts by myself.
Actually had a 354 prot warr the other day in an otherwise full guild group, I was definitely tanking a significant amount of the time.
