Turalyon is receiving Varian's treatment

He just sort of showed up at the end of the campaign. Astutely called Geya’rah a savage (which she is) and then played the supportive husbando role.

Can we talk about how The Horde sent a nobody like Geya’rah while the Alliance sent the Regent-Lord of Stormwind? Can we please develop more Horde character now?

Yeah, he’d be far more interesting than other Alliance leaders. The Alliance deserves better characters.

I don’t think Turalyon has ever recovered from what Illidan did to his favourite wind chime.

He still has that same haunted look in his eyes.

I see we’re at the stage of just anticipating perceived devaluation now

You mean Danath Trollbane? I’m not so sure that the mount is supposed to mean much. You’d have to believe the Horde has no issue with Danath Trollbane walking around with seemingly fresh Horde heads on the mount. Like they aren’t even going to say a word about it? Either it’s just for effect of a cool mount in game or the Horde has zero backbone. Either that or they are heads of known criminals/traitors and the Horde is okay with it.

Thrall is taking the role of mentor to the actual king of Stormwind and leader of the alliance himself.

I dub him Uncle Thrall for this expansion, because that’s the role he’s playing to Anduin.

Maybe we want him to go full Deus Vult. Let the Alliance cut loose for a change. Now where did Velen park that spaceship with the orbital laser? I think some horde cities could use some kinetic reconfiguring.

devs killed horde (orcs) a long time ago

I’m gonna go on a limb here and say they just forgot about the mount

He’s a strong white male so they need to humiliate him before they kill or sideline him. That’s the rules.

But don’t worry, they’ve got Checkbox Lothar there ready to replace him.

This

This is the direction we’ve been written into over the last 3-4 expansions.

Though, to be clear, Blizzard does not write complex interactions very well, so it could have been noticed but neglected because it’d just be more work.

And im sure his death will involve being killed by a certain Concord DEIaladin.

I have no opinion about that either way. I just want more interesting characters for the Alliance.

Or made him insecure… wow… they already did …

Family moments are important, but his moments with Alleria are getting the dosage wrong just enough to make me remember about Malfurion and Tyrande “Ohhhhhhh my dear11111” " ohhh my looooove"

Thrall’s screen time would be better spent actually exploring his character, which has gone wildly off the rails since Mists of Pandaria.

It’s cute that he’s the latest in the fairly long list of characters that have had to play nursemaid to Anduin, but Thrall’s overdue for a redemption arc of his own.

The two characters have a lot in common, but my guy has been in the weeds since the end of pandaria. Shadow Lands played footsie with the idea of him finding his way, but never commited.

Thrall doesn’t really need a redemption arc he just needs to start acting like himself. Which the modern writers are seemingly incapable of writing. Maybe it’ll get better on the next expansion with Metzen, since Thrall is Metzen after all.

They’re retiring all the old guard and trying to replace them with the next generation.

Older players are meant to identify with the legacy characters and younger players with the younger ones.

It’s fine if older ones get the retirement treatment.

My take is a bit different, in my opinion he is never been a good character even in Warcraft 3.
He went from boring(war3) to annoying(wow retail).

Would you like some bubble wrap

He was a generally decent character in WC3 (not my favorite, but decent). The storyline with Grom was good. In vanilla->WOTLK he was mostly an imposing dude in Orgrimmar who didn’t do much but mostly exuded the aesthetic of the horde. Then they ruined him in Cata and especially MoP.
