Truly reprehensible posts should get you an account ban. Edit: I found out they actually do

Dang, looks like I missed some drama.

Thats just a bunch of fancy words to basically say “People should be able to spew hate speech without penalty.” They are already banned for saying terrible things btw as it turns out.

lol yeah god forbid people attack ideas of intolerance. Tolerance of intolerance is a terrible idea. The people who were intolerant will not become more tolerant.
Certain people should and ARE removed from society…jails and prisons? Hello?

Red Dead Online should of done this. When it was actually still being played/updated lol. I would of had the bodies of cheaters on display, like how real criminals bodies were on display in the wild west as a warning to others.

Now trying to flag my post as spam. lol. Except it is relevant to WoW. Flaggers get so desperate when they fail the first time. So what happened to the supposed penalties for false flagging?

honestly the best approach is to reach out and talk to people, show them that the hateful ideas they have about people don’t match up with reality. just making friends will do more than any amount of punitive action you suggest.

but not for hate speech, its constitutionally protected because what constitutes hate speech changes with time and culture. and you have to remember that speech we all agree with doesn’t need constitutional protection.

Treating them as an enemy mob, so it doesn’t flag the players killing them. Halves any gear contributions.

Posts are essentially just chat.

Worst case punishment crossover from the forums should be an in-game mute for whatever the account would currently get if actioned for chat reasons normally.

Agree… like the T-Squad trolling.

Untrue. It is not protected If you are spreading hate speech with the intent to incite violence that can get you jail/prison time.

so inciting violence gets you jail time, also you are trying to equate expressing hate speech with inciting violence, they are not the same thing.

also, you need to stop assuming that everyone who defends free speech does so because they want to express hate speech, that is just a means by which free speech is attacked and demonized. most of us are just weird and different and understand that the main population needs to be kept in check otherwise anyone who is a little off from normal will be attacked.

Oof.

Hate speech is not protected speech. Free Speech is protection against the Government using your words against you or silencing you. It is not a protection from the social repercussions of your speech. If you spew hate speech people have the right to call you on it. There is nothing anywhere that says hate speech has to be tolerated in any form.

its protected from government action and persecution, but at the same time, that knowledge doesn’t give you the right to form private citizen possies and go around attacking people via social means for expressing an opinion you don’t like. who do you think you are trying to personally decide who is and is not allowed to exist in society?

I am on the fence.I get what you are saying but shooting your mouth off so to speak shouldn’t result in anything permanent. Maybe on a case by case basis.

If you spew hate speech people are going to confront you about it. Don’t like it, don’t be hateful. All there is to it. No ifs, No ands, No buts. There’s no debate to be had to it. And no one is trying to decide who is and isn’t allowed to exist in society. People are telling you that you don’t get to spew hateful speech towards others to push them out of society. All there is to it.

I’d love to see where, in your constitution, it says that hate speech is protected.

Freedom of speech in the US means that you can say things about your government without persecution. It does not say that you can spew out hate speech towards others without consequence.

These forums are privately owned by a company that is within their rights to prevent people from being hateful.

nobody disagrees with this, the problem and why hate speech is constitutionally protected as free speech is that people are unable to agree on what is and is not hate speech.

for example, many ultra conservative churches consider LGBT books and trans acceptance to be hate speech against their religious beliefs. while at the same time, LGBT people consider many religious beliefs to be hate speech against their very existence.

first amendment.

legal consequence, for example, you can’t be arrested for hate speech, but you can be fired if your boss doesn’t like what you said.

I worry that they would start giving in-game bans for minor forum offenses if this becomes a possibility. And I don’t trust that these would be given fairly and consistently.

You absolutely can. Sit down and actually read your first amendment.

Or, go into a police station and start spewing hate speech. Let us know how it turns out.

I feel so bad for the education system wherever you live.

This is functionally false. LGBTQ people do not consider Religious beliefs to be hate speech against their existence. They consider the actions of some religious organizations hateful and or violent based on actions and rhetoric. No one has a problem with the Religion itself. It’s the PEOPLE that are the problem. Not the Religion.
