Truly reprehensible posts should get you an account ban. Edit: I found out they actually do

Who agrees? It would cut down on the kiddos who get ‘brave’ on the forums. I did say “truly reprehensible”. I think some people need reading comprehension here. Why would you flag my post unless you’re someone who thinks you should be able to post vile things?
Edit: This actually already happens. Its funny though that people cry “But but you’re putting too much power in the hands of users!” Except its NOT in the hands of the users? It’s in the hands of the MODS. All we posters do is report something. We don’t get some option with the report to “Ban this person from playing”, that decision is with the mods and always has been. It’s happened already before btw. There have been people who posted something super vile and hateful that got them account banned. So for the people who are really upset by my suggestion: IT ALREADY HAPPENS.

It should flag you in game and allow everyone, regardless of faction, to kill you.

Oh, and it should also place a dunce cap on you.

lol Blizz would never do that but some other mmos I’ve seen might. There was one that public humiliates you and then kills you if you cheated.

Ehh. I think that’s going a bit far tbh.

Sure, the last thread i’ve seen is definitionally reprehensible, but i think applied equally, people wouldn’t be able to say anything unless it’s deemed acceptable by the majority.

I mean somebody else was having a problem with me calling somebody out for being reprehensible themselves.

That said, for most extreme cases like Doxing, Real Life Threats, sure.

Not really. People would indeed be able to say things. This is a weak argument. People said the same thing about the social contract. Its not going too far either. Other games have done this, I remember back in the day in SWG some guy who was supposed to be a helper was SUPER toxic in game to a friend and I. I reported him for it. He posted a angry violent rant on the forums about me. Banned from playing the game.

That’d be kinda funny tbh.

Some people should be permabanned from the entire internet.

Well that’s because the social contract is pretty much just stating the things that is already in the tos. Nothing much has changed outside of that.

I get your point here, but i really think it should be reserved for the most reprehensible of cases.

Problem is unless it’s SUPER awful, it’s more probable that it’s just someone trolling the forums looking for a response. There is a possibility that they don’t even believe what they are saying, they only know what gets the best kind of reaction.

Which is what I meant, the most reprehensible. Not some kiddo trolling.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Correct me if i’m wrong, but… the thread we both are thinking of here on why this thread is created… is just some kiddo trolling, right?

Not to be redundant but… people abuse the report function. That even happened to yours truely earlier.

That said, i did find the same guy from the thread i was on on another one of his threads and uhh… Pretty much just saying he wants to fight people irl. Fists and all.

So for that guy, yeah, he should get repercussions ingame.

I think they will probably already do that. Like if you start threatening someones life, that, I would assume, would be crossing a line where Blizzard would get rid of you entirely.

Why bother? The people you’re referring to will undoubtedly earn a game vacation on their own anyways.

The problem is people abuse the report function on the forum for opinions they disagree with. It’s almost as bad as reddit.

Always amusing to be scrolling through a thread that I KNOW is going to be removed, and then suddenly see it 404’ed mid-scroll.

…justice. And on a weekend even.

I don’t know if it changed, but I know back in TBC and Wrath Blizz tried to stay out of those kinds of altercations. It led to a lot of problems.

I don’t know how it works with posts in particular, but I know certain things on the forums CAN result in a total account ban, including in game. And not just WoW but all Blizzard games tied to that account.

But unless I am the one being punished, I don’t think it’s my business what happens to others.

That person probably says similar stuff in game and may get what they deserve anyway

There’s opinions, then there is hate speech.

I’m pretty sure OP is referring to the hate speech some of us just witnessed.

Just perma-ban them from the forums no need to carry it over to the entire account unless what they were posting was illegal then I can see Blizzard closing the entire account and handing the info over to law enforcement.

If someone really works hard at it, they can get the whole Battlenet account and all the games on it closed. It is rare, but it does happen. Blizzard does not really discuss what it takes, but you can assume something egregious, or many many repeated infractions.

Or if the account is an obvious bot account just created for botting/gold transfers/fraud. Those get closed all the time.
