Tried FFXIV …and⚰️

Im making the point of: you can come up with the idea – but it doesnt necessarily mean its true. Its why conspiracies exist after all.

Asmongold talked crap about FF14 for many years due to its aesthetics, he decided to try it because he dislikes the current state of WoW.

You’ll adjust, the gameplay is very rich. Graphics are…graphics.

No, he actually loves the game because the gameplay is great. Your so used to wow you can’t see another game the same way.

Why are you telling me this?

Graphics from newer games do this to me. I tend to like graphics from the older games better. Seems like the newer games focus on graphics and not the game mechanics. Maybe it’s also because I get better frame rates with older games.

I try to to give people the benefit of the doubt rather than make assumptions like Asmongold is being paid as the reason he is playing FF14.

I mean, I know hes being honest in his playing of FF14 – but my point is: you can make the case of him possibly being paid even how tin-foily it sounds. People will believe what they believe by perception.

Why are you telling me this?

As I understood it, it was a combination of WoW’s state, and Asmongold himself seeing other streamers try out FFXIV. At worst it is a ‘follow the money’ situation, so he tried it out on stream and ended up enjoying it.

In WoW? Because when I see some of the great things other MMO’s have implemented I’m always more disappointed in WoW or how they have tried to force feed their version.

That’s not the entire reason. He felt he was judging the game too harshly and trash talking it when he hadn’t experienced it. It was also on the rise so he finally decided to give it a fair try instead of “judging it by the cover”.

Yea, you are right. I left that part out.

i tried FF too.
It screwed up on sign up, just tells me how the game is on sign up…

I tried it as well and I see how it can appeal to some people but I’ve played it for about a month and I just can’t get into it. I enjoyed Rift more than I did it.

I started wow when I was 18 and single. I am now 30+ married with 3 kids. I started playing FFXIV 4 years ago, and go between WoW, SWTOR, and FFXIV as I get bored.

It is an excuse you tell yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you can’t play wow or have to play any game in particular. But “I’m married with kids so I can’t play anything else” is an excuse.

I tried it and found the visual clutter makes it nearly impossible to play. I feel like they’re trying to show every leaf. In the beginning area I ran around the big crystal at least 3 times before I saw the path I was supposed to take. I can’t imagine trying to play a whole game with this much trouble seeing what I’m supposed to be doing. Getting back to WoW was such a relief. I hate the company but I’ve been playing since Vanilla started and it’s home. I’d like to see some heads roll, some decent people hired and then get back to creating content. Please…

I gave it a try just see what they hype was about.

FF14 Character customization is far beyond what WoW has. FF14 totally beats WoW in this regard.

Racial types are very boring. Every one is a different kind of human, but still very human looking. Except for the creepy child-like toons who I instantly hated more than gnomes/vulpera as soon as I saw them. I would have preferred to have non-humans to be able to choose from like you can in WoW,

FF14 Class types are kind of weirdly set up. I mean they do sort of follow classic fantasy but also sort of don’t. I found it off-putting for me.

Gameplay is ok, too much flash in combat though. I never looked into if you could tone this down like you can in WoW. Only did a bit of PVE, so it could get worse.

Graphics are ok, both games have a definite individual style. FF14 Character movement feels more fluid than WoW. I was a bit shocked at how much “bounce” the FF14 characters have.

I did not care for how confined the FF14 world seems. You always seem to be doing a loading screen just walking from one section of town to another, while in WoW I can mount up and fly from UC to Booty Bay with no interruption.

As for FF14 lore I did not play long enough to get engaged with it. But as this point in WoW, FF14 lore probably has it beat hands down just in terms of logical continuity.

So in my own opinion, which is just that, FF14 is a ok game but for me it has too many limitations in the areas that I consider important to enjoy the game. My hope is that Blizzard seriously looks and FF14 and sees how they can improve WoW.

yea but i meant starting out like i am interested in mechanist just to try out see if i’d like it but can’t because it’s gated due to story and all that. wow is no different back then like with DH and DK.

am lvl 11 now so i mean im catching up still lost as wth to do and what not unlike with wow though since i’ve played wow for years but meh i’ll get there. doing pretty much every quest i find too most are basic same like WoW very short stories to um mostly meaningless so it seems

A good game doesn’t need incredible graphics to be good.

Stardew Valley, Among Us, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Valheim, Terraria (and countless more) all prove this.

The game is probably fun.

You can.

Fitting right in.
Some of these lalafell NPC characters at the very least do grow on people though.
At some point people stop seeing them as child-like toons, simply because of how many of the lalafell characters are written.

Yeah it sucks. I believe this is a limitation of the consoles, along with FFXIV zones being somewhat bigger than WoW zone sand filled with more stuff. There is of course also the graphical demands, where WoW requires less than FFXIV.

Is what I have heard.

I really just think it is a limitation of the engine used to develope FFXIV and/or the servers.

Oh no doubt.
It is not even a contest here.
FFXIV wins by a landslide.
