Tried FFXIV …and⚰️

you can simply quit MMOs in general. The market for it is dead and not viable anymore

I agree. I couldn’t get past the graphics either. It’s something you get use too on some level, but it became frustrating dealing with the headaches and squinting. If I’m not playing WoW, I prefer GW2 or SWTOR for comparable graphics.

Try Swtor its pretty good… I personally havent tried FF yet but i do play Swtor

I heard the gameplay is slow, like 2 second globals. Is that true?, if so i would get bored.

While I didn’t experience the same ‘ew’ feeling you had with the graphics, I understood it was a different game, and went at it with that approach. I created my little dude, ran him through some quests, got his levels up there, and was having a bit of fun. However, it didn’t have the pull, that Warcraft had for me, if you catch my meaning.

I wish it well, I really do. I played FF14 when it was new, and I played it more recently (prior to all of this lawsuit stuff), and I’m glad they’ve made major improvements. I look forward to seeing where they take the game, but in my personal opinion, it’s not a game I want to invest any more time into.

No, the game is sinking faster than a passenger ship in deep water.
It won’t be long before WoW has a similar monitization scheme as SWTOR.

FF14’s visuals remind me of when cheap cgi kids movies were made and they have those real bad looking textures. The characters look fine but there’s something a little off with lot’s of the visuals. Especially outdoor things.

Ive tried FF14 twice now. The graphics are just the kind that get outdated extremely fast and are too much to look at for long term play. I also hate the player hud and UI.
Just all around I didn’t enjoy FF14.

I’ve been on every hype train for the last 15years and ditched WoW to play other games for years at a time but in the end WoW is the superior MMO.

Everything about it is so adaptable and not too much or too little. The graphics are old but they’re done in a way that makes them good forever. Unlike FF14s where as time marches on they look worse and worse and eventually they’ll have to keep spending massive amounts of money to keep them up with the times.

You exaggerate. WoWs got a couple speed bumps but its the far superior MMO still.

I’m really not someone who is interested in lore or anything so I was just skipping every MSQ dialogue until it got the best of me at level 53.

Yes…

I actually think parts of the game a beautifully done, but my main complaint is there’s too much going on, and not enough unique separation of areas to make it interesting. After a few days of playing, it all looked the same to me. I have issues with my eyesight so that could play a factor, but what I enjoy about WOW graphics is that the landscape isn’t too cluttered, and the zones all have their own look and feel.

I do not think I am exaggerating, and it is not a couple of speed bumps at this point. The game has literally, and I truly mean LITERALLY, been hemorrhaging subscribers for a long time now.

i started FFXIV about a year ago now, before that I have tried it and reached the very same conclusion as many others. I did not like it, but that was also while WoW was still atleast decent, and because I did not give FFXIV an earnest try. A year ago the spell that WoW had cast on me washed away, I could see it for what it was, a broken, antique vase that the developers simply refused to try and fix.

I gave FFXIV an earnest try, I played throughout and thoroughly enjoyed my time as I leveled up and experienced the world-building, the lore. I eventually moved on to try its dungeons, I got higher level and then I tried its raids. I walked through the street sof the cities and saw players playing their instruments, alone and in groups, playing music from the real world. I saw Free Companies (Guilds) in their company houses, working on their airship projects, decorating their company house and I saw individual apartments and houses and saw the various ways to decorate your room.

I have yet to try out the PvP but PvP was never a big thing for me. I like doing raids and dungeon, and I like chatting with people.

I eventually realised that the golden saucer exists, and immediately went there to try out its mini games, spent several hours just doing jumping puzzles, chocobo racing, card-game minigame all in between doing raids, trials and dungeons.

The game was originally designed to be possible to play on a PS3. Also it still looks pretty good in a number of ways that WoW doesn’t, including in it’s facial animations

I would immediately jump to FFXIV if they allowed addons, because the rotations are too long/proccy for a game with such a limited UI/HUD. People like to say “haha git gud” but half of them are using at least one 3rd party program.
Hell even the devs know they need it, hence the “don’t ask don’t tell” position of 3rd party programs. They could totally install some sort of anti-cheat/Warden if they wanted to.

I think the graphics on that game are better than this one’s, to be honest. The idea of “capturing a gleam in a streamer’s eye” escapes me though, none of those guys can tell me jack about how or what I play. Even the ones I sorta agree with it’s just like “that’s nice you still don’t know anything about my experience.”

Yeah thats all great dude.

They had a covid related content draught and a scandal but as someone that has also played many MMOs I can tell you that one good expansion and WoW will be back with high numbers, or at least get back a lot of the lost subs.

Covid-19 hit WoW hard but people will be back for sure. I don’t think WoW will ever be as big as it was many expansions ago but its still going to be the top MMO for a long time. My fingers are crossed for an actual WoW killer but FF14 ain’t it.

It lost that a long time ago.

Blizzard is killing WoW themselves, have for a long time.

Tell us you have a potato computer without telling us you have a potato computer.

Brilliantly done, thank you.

If you compare everything to WoW you will always be disappointed

No, FF is actually quite enjoyable. I just had to get over myself and resub.
