To me, the worst thing about the portal hub is that it doesn’t have any space to add additional portals.
Any new portals will have to be squeezed into the corners between the portals, and it will be Cleft of Shadows all over again.
Why would you rebuild this big new hub and not build any expandability into it, for the future?

That’s because Blizzard don’t wanna add anything new.
So what’s gonna happen when the next xpac comes out? They don’t think ahead. I can absolutely 100% say they’ll take away some more portals and claim it’s for gameplay. Screenshot this if you like because that is what will happen.
What are the good portals that are removed?
Literally the only one you could argue that matters is the Dalaran Crater one. Everything else is still easily accessible.

Throw your local portal room in the trashcan above.

That’s 3 minute of extra time played metrics per person, multiply it by 1.7m per visit and it could patch up their loss of MAU from the recent WOW refugees.
This is exactly right. Anything that adds to sub time, and if you think the changes will end here you’re wrong.
What I don’t get is the horde version is tiny, more like a portal closet compared to Alliance. And to top it off, instead of keeping it in cleft of shadows they move it to spot in the main gate. I circled Orgrammar twice before I had to “google” it’s location.
At first I didn’t really care about this until I realized how difficult it was to get to the Eastern kingdoms last night. I eventually just took the undercity portal and flew south to get to the archeology site.
The silvermoon portal is so far from the flight path it’s almost not even worth it to Port there
It’s really frustrating

Just keep voicing your opinion and maybe they’ll add new room to it.
Did you know that Final Fantasy XIV lets the player teleport to ANY city once they’ve been there?
They also don’t limit flight.

I was doing the Mag’har Orc unlock chain. I was lost trying to figure out how to get around, having to literally bounce around the world. I’d usued all hearthstones and was left stuck out in the middle of nowhere.
Using flight pathes is fine, but I either fall asleep waiting or alt-tab and go read something or pick up my phone and start playing a game (and get more interested in that).
I did a hearths and engineering transporters and ended up stranded in the middle of no where. I use to port around to get to archeology sites, now it’s a project just to get to the right side of a continent
So I logged off for the evening.
Ask the Ethereals! We did toss trash through a portal to the Nether and ticked them off.

When it’s actually the other way around. More portals means it’s easier to actually go places, instead of ignoring the rest of the world.
They want to make the world feel larger putting all portals and sw and org…makes sense to me…
coming soon. “Customize your portal room $10 per custom portal”
Yeah they killed archeology. First with flight being restricted and time gated and now with portal prune.
Quite sad how Blizzard undermines their own work.
I like the portal rooms, they just need to add Caverns of Time, Vale of Eternal Blossoms and Karazahn and there wouldn’t be any issues.
I bought the cloak from the guildmaster in SW the day before the patch, the one that will let you teleport to SW, then used it for the first time the next day as soon as I logged in. Mistake lol. I was thinking "nice room, how did I not know about this one?" It took a moment to realize that no, the portals were changed. I knew portals were being removed/changed but it didn’t register at first because I used that cloak lol. I thought I found some beautiful room that only the cloak took me to. (Like the Schools of Arcane Magic book that takes you to the secret room at the top of the Violet Citadel in Dalaran)
