Why would people who play classic wow want a WoW 2?
Live wow’s servers aren’t this bad. Maybe its because sharding/cross realm tech makes it feel less crappy - but classic wow servers are just a different breed of crap.
Next time maybe give the community warning. All this is doing is keeping friends and guilds separated, especially those who haven’t come back to the game just yet. Hopefully this lifts before Wrath launch but I suspect this is not going to be the case.
Additionally the free transfer realm offers are horrific. Both options are basically dead servers, nobody wants to go to a realm where they can’t find enough people to form groups without searching for hours on end. Try offering additional servers for the free migration and people might actually transfer.
The Pagle, Whitemane, and Mankrik locks w/o a character migration option is also odd. Sure the point is blizz doesn’t want to make those servers any larger but now, an example in my case, friends who haven’t resubbed yet have no way to move the characters they want to play onto these servers without starting from scratch with a lvl 1 or a boost which is understandably frustrating to say the least.
This whole thing is a raw deal. A lot of Wrath launch plans between friends/guilds are likely going to be disrupted because of these sudden restrictions which is a massive disappointment.

Or maybe let me transfer my grob characters to whitemane with the rest of my characters instead of a dead server 
I mean, not that some of these servers aren’t already a farce, but what you guys did to Firemaw EU is shameful. Restricting transfers alone isn’t going to solve anything, and is in fact more likely to make things worse. Given Blizzard’s track record, doing nothing is almost preferable.

The issue is entirely created by Blizzard REFUSING to invest in proper server infrastructure after even after years and multiple instances of this exact situation happening.
I’m not trying to white knight Blizzard, but is this really true?
I mean there have never been servers as large as Benediction, Faerlina, etc… A mega server in Classic Vanilla was like 6-8k population.
Is it realistically a server infrastructure problem? I mean, there is probably an unprecedented number of players trying to log on to individual servers right now.
Granted I’m not a tech person, but it just seems like these servers are way too large–which is Blizzard’s fault, but they are trying to address it. This is not to say their transfer solution is necessarily the right one.

This is all well and good for the megaservers but THERE ARE NO QUEUES ON PAGLE. I boosted a toon on pagle to try it out, and it is demonstrably superior to Westfall. I go to transfer my main last night and this happens out of nowhere. You let my entire server transfer to benediction, and now I can’t transfer to Pagle based on a stated reason that is demonstrably incorrect… please open Pagle back up.

I guess im that 1 exception but im happy about this, Im horde stuck on Benediction and couldnt play TBC since Ive Transfer already 2 times

I am so sorry. We are all hoping for the best and want to give Blizz time to work things out but with no warning we’re in a bit of a panic. This guild has worked very hard with many of its members playing/raiding together since Classic launched. I am newer to the guild, but I’m am totally looking forward to WOTLK Classic with these folks. Fingers crossed!!

Your repeated failure to anticipate your player base is a serious indication of your complete disconnect from your community.
Youre literally the only game/company that can fail this badly so many times and still have a player base. Still riding the wave of the great developers before you. Wake up, think ahead, and give us some options to fix the problems BEFORE they happen. YOU and only YOU have the data for this.
My guild waited months to transfer off old blanchy, hoping you’d do something about the servers. You didn’t. Now, 1 week after we all move (leaving behind friends) you allow free transfers to OB… and you dont even realize that the transfers youre pushing to “fix” the problem are actually helping to propogate it. Just slap on a bandaid and move on to the next thing. So disappointing.

Yesterday I was going to transfer my character from faerlina to Benediction, the server wouldn’t let me transfer my character because it had mail on it. Due to the high load of servers I could not connect. Today I tried again and I just realized that transfers are disabled. I just back to play the game again this month for the new patch with my friends. I already spent my money to pay for the subscription and added money to pay for the transfer…
