I think if you don’t pick up the mounts every time it’s pretty easy to bank tenders pretty rapidly.
This month actually has some great stuff. Lot of race-specific things.
This is fair.
I’m not sure I’ve bought any mount other than the Zhevra, so that probably has a bit to do with it. Still hoping for something that will make me throw all my tenders at the screen.
They’re going to sell some absolutely once-a-year trading post mount that scratches everyone’s bells and whistles but cost like 8k and Norman’s going to be the only person able to afford it.
I actually kind of hope this happens.
My favorite Ahn’qiraj dress got a texture update and it stays revealing on male models.
I’m so happy.
I hope they add the other colors soon, I’ve always had a soft spot for those robes due to how much they look like a formal dressing gown.
Imagine a recoloured Long Boi for like 8k tenders. Or that spider mount.
Just a warning, some folks are complaining that they didn’t get the Trading Post Achievement despite having maxed out their 12 months.
The current solution is to just blaze through this month’s list and it should auto-resolve the bug, but if you don’t get it after that, remember to open a ticket to Blizz. There’s a significant backlog, however, and folks are still waiting for GMs to get back to them at this rate.
I have wanted Lady Liadrin’s sword and shield for a long time now.
Here we (possibly) go…
Finally my patience and loyalty to the true Warchief and never having had laid a hand or caused harm to blessed Grommash will be rewarded.
Yeah, there’s almost 300 comments on this post which doesn’t happen often.
I know a lot of people don’t seem to care, but I feel like achievement-related items should not be purchasable.
I have the Rooster Mount. I would not care if they put that on the Trading post. It’s never been something you earned, just bought.
Items that are just rare drops? Put them on the Trading post. It’s just dumb luck if you got them. I say that as someone who spent every week since MOP trying to get the Galleon mount and finally got it this year. Put it on the Trading post. It wouldn’t bother me that it’s easier for others to obtain.
Items you have to earn? I don’t agree with it and I say that as someone who has zero AOTC mounts. I didn’t earn them. It’s not fair to those who did, that I can buy them.
I mean, it was the mount you could get for just completing the raid on Normal. Considering Siege of Orgrimmar ran for like an entire year, it’s not really even that rare.
Maybe not, but I don’t raid beyond the occasional LFR which anymore is almost never anyway.
I’m a-ok with there being some standard in this game of people having to run things when they are current, to earn certain achievements / items.
I’m probably an odd duck though. I have a lot of titles from old raids, etc that you get for beating them, but I beat them long after the expac was done and it became a face smash. I don’t use those titles. The only titles I will use are the ones I feel I earned.
I’d love some of the PvP titles (as someone who was RL military would be neat to have them here also), but if I can’t earn them genuinely, I shouldn’t have them.
I’m not like super pro-everything should be on the Trading Post. But I don’t necessarily think an AOTC mount from a decade ago that most people at the time got is necessarily the hill to die on.
That being said, if Ashes of Al’ar or Swift Zulian Tiger ended up there, that’d be more annoying in my opinion.
Let it come back. As a collector, let it come back.
Let people have the toys, even if they’re a decade behind the ‘Curve’.
“But I got it when it was live!”
My Brother in Christ, its a video game, who the hell cares
. This isn’t the Purple Heart, this isn’t the keys to the city, this isn’t holding your newborn for the first time. Yes, its an Ahead of the Curve achievement mount, yes, you worked your butt off for it, but it’s been ten gorram years, unclench, go outside, touch grass, thou are maidenless.
If it really blisters their booties that badly, let it come back with a new recolour then. Let the Black and Plague Proto-Drakes come back, and if you have one or both, you get some new fun thing that’s unique for you, yet another gold star to add to the collection.
As much as it can be intensely frustrating to not be able to get things in the game, I have come to recognize two very important things.
- I have Kleptomania, along with a few other wiring issues upstairs. My incessant need to collect stuff in video games is how I satisfy that urge without filling my house with garbage to satisfy the Goblin Brain demanding shiny stuff. My obsession with collecting, learning everything I can about a fandom or setting, and being a Nerd of the highest order is not normal behavior and I sincerely hope most of the other players in WoW, or other games, are collecting for less damaging reasons than mine.
- IT. IS. A. VIDEO. GAME. Someday, the servers will shut down, the story will end, and then what? You’ve fought, bled and died on this hill for a collection of pixels, to deny other people access to those pixels, because you worked harder at a video game than they did and thus are a winner? If you got the mount because you enjoyed the chase, then kudos to you, and you have my respect. If you got the mount because it was an excuse to hold the ol’ One Incher over other people’s heads as an example of how much better you were than they are at a God-be-damned VIDEO GAME, I think you need therapy more than I do.
Nobody is suggesting the ‘Everybody gets a Trophy’ path here. But I am so sick and tired of hearing the warbling screeches of World First/Server First/Ahead of the Curve people, most of whom I know of paid to get carried to most of those achievements, that other people are going to get to play with their shiny status symbols.
Unclench. We have bigger things in this life to be ring-ruptured over than gorram pixels being made available to other players on a 20+ year old game.
I’m for it.
World of Warcraft is an old game. Since the 10 years of SoO coming out (9 since AotC ended), there’s been a BUNCH of new players. Mounts like the Wooly White Rhino and Magic Rooster aren’t even viewable in the mount journal. The Kor’kron War Wolf is.
People that put in the work ten years ago and got it? Proud of them. They got to sit on it for 10 years and let it collect dust because there’s been dozens of more mounts added to the game since then. I personally feel there’s a lot more people with the mount who don’t use the damn thing - so getting upset that they suddenly see one by someone who started playing two years ago is just grognard behavior.
In short, to all the Grognards:
As someone who has several and would gladly give every single one back to get back what I and others lost, I find this offensive for a lot of reasons. I’m not interested in arguing on an internet forum, so into the dustbin it goes.
I also have kids, so “holding your newborn” rings true as well. Letting that go also.
Has nothing to do with touching grass. My life outside of WoW is rich and full.
That doesn’t mean that items, titles, cheeves, etc in a video game are nothingness. It’s a different form of value and meaning, but that doesn’t mean it’s entirely void of value as a whole.
My personal opinion (as subjective and questionable as it may be) is that this is exactly that. Otherwise, let’s just give everyone the all the titles, gear, mounts and every other single thing that has ever been available in this game the moment they spawn in.
Certainly questionable. We’re talking about a mount that is ten years old and is going to be objectively expensive (7k+ tenders, according to datamining speculation). Not something within the past expansion or two, for that matter.
Achievement related items - like it or not - have been purchased since people started selling AotC runs. What would be the difference between someone who saved up and dropped a lot of gold for a kor’kron war wolf during a raid 10 years ago and someone who saved up and dropped a lot of tenders for a kor’kron war wolf on the trading post when it might not make another appearance on the trading post for another six months to a year if it even gets considered for a rerun?
People that have a chip on their shoulder can always look up someone’s achievements, see they don’t have AotC, and gatekeep in trade chat all day about it.
End of the day, the line between “earned” and “bought” is as blurry as it gets. Might drop $60 on tokens and earn myself a spot on a Heroic carry for Fyrakk AotC. I mean, I earned my real life dollarydoos, right? Who’s gonna look at my achievement page and know the difference?

this guy.
I just… can’t get mad at a decade-old (or older) AotC mount becoming available in the Trading Post for anyone who wants to do the 7k tendies grind for it, and this is coming from someone who had AotC from Cata to Shadowlands before the game burned me out. I haven’t put much stake in AotC since and have mostly enjoyed M+s as my PvE outlet since my return. A quick glance at someone’s Bnet profile settles whether they earned it via the achievement or a tendy grind.
I understand if folks feel different and will give them space to rant, but I just can’t join in. Let TP mount collectors eat their over-ten-years-old cake.
As for my TP wishlist, I’m hoping for more “simple and clean” weapon transmogs. Daggers and maces have become almost comically ornate in recent years, to the point that some maces don’t resemble maces at all. This makes it hard for me to keep up with my WC3 paladin warmace fantasy, and my mogs are using increasingly older and older polygon maces.
I’m also game for more outfits. I’ve enjoyed collecting each one and turning an amalgamation of their different pieces into new outfits. I didn’t expect myself to become a fashionista this late into playing WoW, but damn if it isn’t fun and has basically become my new endgame.
“i dont really care—” Blizz releases the ugly level 40 Brewfest ram mount from 2007 on the Trading Post “YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME BLIZZARD!!”
Sorry Norman, took me a hot second to respond to this, Palworld is consuming me from the toes up.
Firstly, thank you for your service.
Secondly, I went waaaaay overboard with the comparisons. Would you prefer me to pull them down and replace them with less hyperbolic versions?
Thirdly, I don’t disagree with the point that titles, mounts and the like have value, but I will argue that depreciation also plays a part in this. Its been so long, does the achievement actually mean much at all anymore? This strikes me very much as the Student Loans/Medicare/I didn’t get this so neither should you! arguments that keep cropping up, or rather, in the same vein as the opposing side of those debates seems to tap into.
I worked hard for this! Nobody is denying that, but again, the game has changed and allowing players to gain access to older content again as a way for Blizzard to retain them for longer is a familiar and wide-spread business practice. Some folks were wildly upset that the old Naxx and Zul’gurub equipment was now coming back via crafting, but it didn’t diminish or dismiss players who had gotten the gear, it just meant more people could have cool Jungle Troll- and Scourge-themed equipment to transmog and help give their characters new and thematic transmogs.
Do I think suddenly everybody is going to be riding around on a Kor’kron War Wolf? No, but now it’s an option, and more options are always a good thing to have.
