Sure if there is an auto join world chat, as there was many many years ago (for a very short time) id be fine for a separation.
I want trade chat to be separated into a trade channel and a world channels. Why is that so bad? Everyone wins.
I think an auto join for a world channel just as there is for trade is a great idea.
Trade became a universal chat of sorts years ago. Blizzard didn’t step in then, they won’t step in now. So…leaving the chat however you see fit is the best way to handle it.
Why add a world chat when people don’t even use General chat? Trade chat can only be used in specific areas, this won’t change anything. Plus then you go from only seeing the spam in cities, to seeing the spam everywhere you go.
And again unless you actually have more than 1 chat window, you’re not removing the spam. So your issue isn’t solved.
It was used for the short time it existed. But it would have to be auto enabled. If someone didn’t want to be in it, they would have to leave.
General chat is zone specific. People have the option to opt out of the “world” channel just as everyone has been saying about trade. Include this in the tutorial so everyone knows as well while they’re at it.
I’d argue that is not the best way to handle it as the addition of “Communities” in the game didn’t seem to solve much of anything. Separating the channels would be a good solution as even new players would be able to see constant communication with the whole of the game community and not just the general zone they’re in.
But it is. Take part or don’t. That is the easiest way to handle it.
Lol, this is such a personal issue for you. Just the idea of temp banning people for a non-issue is bad enough, but your solution doesn’t even fix the problem. You want the spam to be gone, but you’re not removing it, you’re trying to move it somewhere else.
A tutorial won’t make people break their habit, and temp banning people will only infuriate the community and hurt the game for such a harmless thing.
Also, by your logic it seems, the spam is a bad thing? Why would players not want to see this everywhere if it was a good thing for the game?
I’ve never said the spam is a bad thing. I don’t care about the spam because I don’t pay attention to it. I don’t even pay attention to it when I’m actively using trade chat. I hit the up arrow and hit enter until I get a reply from someone to trade.
I sell stuff all the time on one of the most popular horde servers.
Don’t see the issue.
This is something that I believe would help the community as a whole. Adding a world channel that people auto-join when creating a character would seem to be a good thing for the game if everyone is so heavily defending the spam.
In what way will it help the community though? You’re saying to ban people for talking in a chat channel.
Who is it helping?
Treating a ban like a slap on the wrist for such a harmless offense is incomprehensible. Bans are recorded on your account and affect your ability to participate in events and offers.
carries are meant for trade chat pookie bear
I’m saying add a new chat channel for “world” chat to separate all of it from the current trade channel. If the political spam and JPG spam (which I’m not even sure if this is allowed) in trade chat is a good thing, having this broadcast to everyone in the game in a “world” channel would undoubtedly be better than having it limited to major cities.
Going back to a few of my previous comments, though I do personally find it annoying, agree that it is considered trading so I retract that portion of the statement.
Why would I want that spam everywhere I go? What does this solve? The best part about Trade chat and General chat are that I don’t have to see them when I’m not in cities.
Use the badboy addon… You don’t have to leave the channel, and it filters all that stuff out. You’ll have to add your own keywords to catch it all, but my /2 is wonderful since I installed it.
