I can only imagine the level of awful this is going to get to in the days after the launch of Classic.
There’s a real danger that this will happen and that some of us will go over to retail and troll in retaliation.
I urge all of you to be the bigger people – report and move on.
Hopefully Blizzard will be quite pro-active with temp bans.

To be honest there is nothing that will get me to spend time in retail as long as Classic is available, not even retaliation.

Idk. I hope people are busy playing the game instead of paying attention to trolls or worse. Feeding them.

The LAST thing I’m going to do during the initial launch period is sit around and in Ironforge and read Trade chat-- let alone get angry enough at what some salty troll says to go back to retail and troll in retaliation. (Seriously–what would that do except to waste precious leveling time in Classic?)

Just RCR them and have their account silenced in seconds for 24 hours. Since it’s account bound they’re screwed in retail and classic. If they do it again the silence is doubled infinitely anyway. That way we can punish the tourists (not real Classic players anyway) and get revenge at Retail players for enjoying a terrible game.
Let’s lower the RCR report threshold to a single report. A single victim of trolling is one too many.
Who cares? You don’t need to participate in the trade chat channel at all. And if you find yourself needing to use trade. Use the ignore function.
You don’t need to even interact with trolls at all. You can just ignore them.

The only people who will be trolling will be trolls trolling each other as most of tyhe population won’t be spending mroe than a couple of mins at a time in cities.

Will make trade chat lively again . . . I guess.
Players generally do not play games they don’t like in order to mock those who do like them.
As long as Silences are Battle .net account wide, the trolls will shut themselves down pretty quickly.
Who spends time in trade chat in the first place. It is the cesspool of the game.

This is a non issue for me. I’ll just ignore the offenders and never have to interact with them again. On a particularly bad day for trade chat, I’ll leave the channel temporarily then come back again later.

Make Trade Chat Great Again
Don’t worry we’ll have right click reporting to deal with that sort of behavior.
Sounds like a Solution looking for a Problem

Apparently I’m one of the few looking forward to this. The art of trolling has plummeted during the years.

In retail no one even cares for trade chat. U could call out for the game being all day and maybe get a few responses.

Honestly, it would not be a vanilla experience without mass trolling. In Vanilla, for a very long time, you weren’t limited to 2 messages a minute in trade, so spammers could actually spam to an unlimited degree.
Argent Dawn was the Moon Guard of Vanilla, and PVP servers loved to target AD as their troll server. They would roll gnomes, run to IF and the troll and harass roleplayers relentlessly.
Trade would just become an unending stream of:
“BLACKROCK DOWN”
“BLACKROCK DOWN”
“BLACKROCK DOWN”
Ad nauseam until you either managed to use up all of your ignore spots or just left or muted Trade. Even reporting the most egregious would have zero immediate consequences
But that will not happen in Classic. The Modern UI limits spam and trolling, and the right click report feature temporarily ignores offenders. There is nothing to fear or be really annoyed by anymore.

The real alpha trolls will adapt to world chat, while those who lose steam or fan base will stay in trade, world chat trolls have to be amusing or they’re just ousted from servers, while trade ones stay in there own little channel. Or that’s how it was on Vanilla for my server up to Wotlk.
Honestly, trolling is way to base now to ever be anything then mildy annoying. It use to be such a well more practiced art. Sure your server troll will say something to you and annoy you, but chances are he / she made you laugh at least triple as many times as he annoyed you.

RCR will make short work of the Retail trolls.
