socializing does not matter in BfA
communication matters in Classic, especially with people who aren’t your friends
communication with people who aren’t your friends barely matters in BfA, if at all
getting PuGs together for dungeons is very hard in Classic, and is absolutely impossible if you are squelched
getting PuGs together for dungeons is very easy in BfA, and becomes ~1%(approximately one percent) harder if you are squelched
world bosses matter in Classic
I don’t even know if BfA has world bosses
people are far more zealous about Classic than they are about BfA
expect competition to be fiercer for everything, possibly including “world-firsts” in Classic than in BfA
fiercer competition means that people are willing to do more things to overcome their opponents than they otherwise would; said things include breaking the rules
some guild decided that every black lotus node in the world belongs to them?
they can right-click report you, preventing you from getting your friends together to compete with them for the black lotus nodes
you’re competing with a guild to tag azuregos?
said guild can squelch you all, preventing all of you from saying anything for 24 hours; although you’ll probably have teamspeak or discord or something to communicate during the raid, your capabilities in very many regards will be hampered all day long and for some of the next day too
you’re crafting lionheart helms with their mats and no fee while someone else doing it and demanding a fee with their mats? he can get his friends to report you until you charge a bigger fee than he does
although you can advertise on the realm forums, a small percentage of max-level players read them anyway… and you can get your post hidden by “the community” there as well
you wanna advertise enchanting like pretty much every enchanter did from Classic until WotLK and maybe onwards in tradechat while someone else is also advertising enchanting for larger fees with the same recipes? he can get his friends to squelch you
a devilsaur mafia appears on your server, just like it did on a large private server, and you want to skin devilsaurs? they’ll squelch you just for getting within 10 yards of a devilsaur if you’re the same faction as they are because why wouldn’t they?
you want to form a group for something while someone else is forming a group for the same dungeon and needs one or more of the same people as you do? the group leader can get his friends, not necessarily the people in his PuG so far, to squelch you so you can’t form a PuG
and, whats this, you’re forming a PuG for something by saying something in trade chat every minute or so? it is as certain as it is that 2+2=4 that a considerable amount of you on these forums would qualify that as SPAMMING, and then you’d right-click report that guy until he stops saying anything
you’re advertising that you can craft lionheart helms? some people will think you’re spamming and report you
you’re advertising that you can enchant stuff with no fee without being competed with? some people will think you’re spamming and report you
you’re using barrens chat for its intended purpose? REPORTED
and from the trade channel trolling retails from launch thread:
some people will want to troll badly enough that they won’t care about being right-click reported
AND, more importantly, get this!
remember all of those trolls from retail that make you want to have right-click report?
they can get you squelched for saying ANYTHING
and the trolls can right-click report all of you BEFORE saying stupid and/or inflammatory stuff in trade chat
if you want to do something about being unjustly right-click reported, then there is only one thing that you can do about it
YOU MAKE A TICKET
and then it doesn’t get answered until after the squelch wears off
and do you know how many tickets there will be?
and do you know how many people would actually be so offended by what someone said that they would make a ticket to get rid of them if right-click report didn’t exist?
the number of the latter isn’t as high as people from California might think
and, believe me, theres gonna be a LOT of them, ESPECIALLY if those bogeyman trolls from BfA come to Classic to troll people
there is nothing that can be feasibly done about being squelched, and if enough people do it, which they will, then nobody will be punished for abusing right-click report to squelch people
and, if right-click report doesn’t include auto-squelching, then IT IS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY POINTLESS TO HAVE BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS TO BE PAID TO LOOK AT ALL OF THOSE REPORTS IF THEY’RE GONNA MEAN ANYTHING
hopefully, this post will have caused at least a single person to no longer be short-sighted enough to support the potentially-game-ruining notion of Classic WoW including right-click report
