What I’m worried about is the eventuality of a streamer server going down or crashing and the spergs invading another server causing mass queue time and other problems.
It’s what happened in Vanilla when some servers crashed. Nothing really unique about it.
It is unique because it’ll mostly be a followed effort to whichever server the streamer goes to, not a random dispersion to all servers.
Or some random person in chat just yells a server and they all go.
again, that’s what happened in Vanilla…I wouldn’t fret about “what ifs”
No it didn’t, nobody was streaming with 20k viewers. You’re talking about such a smaller scale.
Let’s work ourselves up into a complete lather about it now. That’s productive.
That’s normal Classic forums SOP.
This is the part in tradechat that someone links a legendary, one of the top guilds is trying to sell loot runs, and you get spammed with “buy susangold”. Now comes the lfg, world politics, and the drama of the new weekly ninja looter.
I am so looking forward to trade chat and having a community again.
What a silly premise. This isn’t going to happen. People who have no interest in Classic are not going to download the game and sit in trade chat to tell others how much they hate this version of the game for the sole purpose of trolling others. This is such a non-issue and creating an odd us vs them mentality. It reminds me of political propaganda meant to galvanise groups against one another by predicting events before they happen.
lol, you don’t know the wow player base very well do you. Do you even check GD?
Oh someone will, but it will be easily solved so it’s not an issue.
People can troll trade chat all they want.
I’ve got an ignore list, and I’ve got leveling to do.
If right click reporting makes it into Classic I also imagine those people will be more or less almost instantly squelched.
It’s the reason it will be there despite people not liking it.
The World of Warcraft subreddit is possibly a more realistic example of retailers’ attitudes toward Classic. That sub has nearly a million subscribers and there are ~5500 online there at the moment. For the most part, it’s pretty positive in regards to Classic. Lots of recent posts with pics from vanilla/beta and other nostalgia-inducing stuff. I assume most of this activity is organic (right Blizzard?), so it seems like that community is pretty cool with old WoW.
Unfortunately, most of the general discussion interactions about Classic go down like this:
Player 1: I can’t wait for Classic, retail suxxorz!
Player 2: Nah bruh, Classic is going to be garbo!
Fighting ensues.
If you leave the GD people alone, 99% of them won’t complain about Classic, and they’ll probably continue doing what they typically do: complain about retail.
Guess people forget, it was more toxic back then, then now.
Meh shrug
Of course there will be a small number of individuals. That isn’t what I was saying. I was saying there will be no horde of retail players swarming the capitials to crap on Vanilla WoW. Sure they’ll exist, and of course there will be complaints, but there will not be a large horde of players who create a character, run them to the closest capitial for the sole purpose of saying rude things. Its a non-issue and an imagined problem with solutions that have already been implemented.
Never underestimate the wow community…doing stupid things is what they are best at.
I guess this is a really good point, an we could all – including me with some of my other threads here – learn from this for when we eventually go live.
I want to forget Retail even exists when we have Classic.
What I hope we don’t see is (as much as I continue to loathe it) a lot of continued bagging on Retail once we’re online.
One way this will happen is if Retail trolls come to wind us up and we fall for the bait, but we could also trigger it by making snarky remarks and offending some players who are there but like both versions of the game.
Obviously there are going to be a few weeks of people marveling at having things back to how it was and commentary about how much better it is – but I do hope that this settles down, we let our bitterness over the current state of the game go (something that I need to be able to do as well) and enjoy the second chance we’ve been given.
Perhaps someone needs to make a mod with a bunch of filter checklists. The Classic WoW Anachronism Filter – Are you referring to an NPC that didn’t exist in either lore or the game until WOD? FILTERED OUT! This might be taking it a bit far.
Trolling in trade happens no matter what.
Do you think it will only be “retailers”?
