TL;DR: Do you dislike arena because of the meta or because of the toxicity of the players?
Hi guys, it seems like a lot of people on the forums are dissatisfied with the state of the game right now (at least in regards to pvp). I’m curious as to what the actual cause of that dissatisfaction is, and whether or not anyone else is experiencing what I am right now.
Unfortunately my friends that do play wow are not interested in pvp. This means I try to utilize the lfg tools to try and find partners to climb with. I haven’t pvp’d seriously since wrath but it seems like people now don’t understand that it takes a while to develop synergy with one another. It’s crazy to me that after one loss after multiple wins will disband a group. It seems to be the most prevalent in the 1500-1700 bracket, where no one wants to discuss the game or offer anything constructive. It’s a constant shifting of blame and all caps.
Experiencing this over and over again is what makes me dissatisfied with the game. I’ve been ~2400 just playing with friends and having a blast playing stupid comps back in the day and I’m genuinely surprised with how much toxicity I face day to day just trying to play a game.
Does anyone else feel that regardless of the meta, the game has become much less fun due to the community (or lack thereof)?
The game is not great right now but the players have always been toxic. Like PvP in this game draws in the worst possible human beings that never have anything good to say.
These are the people who don’t even say “good job” when you win, they expect every match to be a win, 1 loss = his teammates have mental disorders.
This is at any rating too honestly. Maybe not fresh CR cause most those guys are PvE noobs who are just looking for chill ques.
People were a lot friendlier in Cata…i would say from MoP and since is when people got extremely toxic
would rather have a clear mind trying to play then some toxic ahole crying about every little thing
soon as someone gets toxic I put them on ignore
As for the gameplay I’m a new player played like week here and there in the past this is th longest I have struck around so wouldn’t really know about the better days never really payed attention to meta and stuff in the past
Bowlt as a point but just because it as 0/3 for you dont mean it is not 3/3 for somebody else
Tbh only reason I play is because I broke my xbox controller and cant play rainbow 6 with a mouse I have been going to get a new xbox controller for past 3 months now
I would say the player base is, by default, a little bit toxic (humans are naturally competitive) on both PVE and PVP. You can see people dropping a M+ run if somebody screws up a pull or cause a wipe for not doing the boss mechanic correctly, so it happens on both sides.
On the PVP side, I believe the current state of the game trigger the worst side of people because some matches are just … infuriating.
One can fight against a group of chimps who are doing everything wrong and still win because of the the current game state. Not only the pace, not only the lack of dmg, not only the excessive heals/tools/tankiness, not only because how simple the game become (CD trade is as stupid as it can gets and as scripted as a PVE encounter)… so it’s a massive combination of unbalanced things and the whole game seems to be screwed at its core.
So, IMO, both, players and the game, are to blame for the current level of toxicity.
LFG taught me how to play my Warrior and eventually got me interested in playing other classes to learn how they worked and in the end I found a lot of good people that got me into healing and tolerated me even if we’d lose a game early on in the match.
These days I’m not sure what LFG is good for other than a laugh.
I dont care what they think of me. I do care, however, that my progress developing any semblance of synergy with someone resets everytime they rage quit. Without a team, you cannot progress or achieve anything.
so create lasting friendships with people prior to the necessity of rating pushing.
the people ive played with to almost every single glad title i have are also some of my best friends, I didn’t find them in LFG.
Your progress developing is rarely due to a lack of partners, and is almost entirely due to self reflection and the inability to both look inwardly and fix the issues you find when you do.
The wow arena scene isn;t some unique snow flake. EVERY online pvp game I have played always has a similar scene. Plenty of good, friendly players out there. Far more then the bad ones to be honest.
I recall you saying back in Legion that you had never PvP’d before while you went on to get your “first 2.4k” and it was “so easy” while frost DK was the most powerful it had been in since season 5.
People are no more toxic now than they were in Cata.
The game has just degraded and is just a shell of what it once was.
