its hard to say, I’ve met great people in LFG and I’ve met toxic. they rage leave after one game good riddance put them on ignore so you never see them again and look for the chill players there out there.
Back when teams were restricted to a server you were forced to either find a clique who accepted your toxicity or change your behavior.
Now it seems there’s no system, player provided or WoW, that helps other players figure out if another is toxic or a good teammate.
Sad part is I prefer playing with the newer low rated players because they are usually very happy to be playing/learning compared to the glads/“2700+” players who half the time seem to just not like the game (even in S1 and in previous expansions).
Thats the exact problem im trying to describe. My best friends arent interested in PvP and trying to find new friends via lfg to play is the struggle im experiencing now.
First off, I would like to say that toxicity has existed since the dawn of the game. Wherever there are players in an mmorpg, you can certainly expect toxicity to exist. I actually remember watching toxic players in videos and also in chat during Cata days.
There are games that contain a lot more toxicity than WoW. I would say that part of the increasing toxicity, if anything, has to do with the simplicity of the game and the lack of progression that it offers. The game currently is extremely easy to play, and with that the tendency of players becoming toxic is quite high. Also, with the lack of proper progression, the system (mainly PvP) becomes less dynamic and interesting to partake in. So in a sense, the players that can play and grind 24/7 are really the only ones benefitting from it. The PvP system is a joke right now especially with the way gear can be acquired. Lack of diversity with how classes can be played and the inability to customize gear to suit your preferable playstyle are all factors that contribute to why the game sucks right now and may even contribute to the toxicity.
Both but I can live with a slightly unbalanced meta.
My last arena match was with a man child to say the least. Made me never want to do it again. I grew sick and tired of the babies that rage over 1 loss.
For me it’s totally the community you can’t even make team names anymore and organize your team accordingly. I use to be all over that calender. Patience is key so I stick with my rl buds now. The community now (the elite pvpers) don’t really even have the patience for new or returning players, I know that because I barely keep my cool playing with a rl bud. So unless you got money for a carry … I wouldn’t even bother that ladder is mad real.
This is not entirely true. 2s bracket is where all the tourney players play with viewers and LFGers.
I’m not a R1 player but multi-glad and I spent tons of hours helping people learn in 2s in S1. But honestly at the end of the day it’s a lot of time, I work + have kids so finding time to not only keep up on the general WoW grind and help others becomes quite hard.
This is why a lot of players have moved to a coaching model, where they are rewarded for their time to help out (gold). Peoples time is valuable and you shouldn’t discount that.
The problem with Teams is that one would be tied up to a given comp/teammates. Some people just play once a week for cap, other plays everyday to push rating, there’s no reason why one can’t play with both type of players: I have friends whom I help to cap, others I help to get tmogs and others I play to push.
LFG is a great idea and I don’t think having Teams would fix the root cause of the current toxicity, which is, IMO, the game state as a whole.
I’m just disappointed that PvP imbalance is so bad right now that if you don’t play the meta, you might as well not even queue.
Seriously, you can’t get anywhere if you don’t play RMX, UH/WW, UH/DH, or something with a destro lock.
PvP is far from a fun state right now and it’s pretty sad really, I have never hated or dreaded PvPing in the history of this game, until BFA. To make it even more frustrating, they aren’t doing anything to fix it.
Yea I used to que 3-4 characters in random comps with friends in TBC-wod.
Now the grind is a lot bigger than it used to be and if you’re playing alts in bad comps your rating is going to be significantly lower and you get crappier gear. Feels bad.
