Torghast feels overtuned now

If that were the case, and layer 8 as we have it now were to be the most difficult layer until the end of the expansion, then I would be happy being able to reliably clear up to layer 6 and leave layers 7 and 8 for later patches (similarly to how the Mage Tower added in 7.2 got easier after 7.3 gearing).

However, my understanding is that layers 7 and 8 are meant to be for this patch cycle, and higher, more difficult layers will be added in future patches. Even the menu where you choose your layer shows blank spots for more layers to be added, probably up to layer 12.

If the highest layers are always going to be out of reach for the vast majority of the player base—like Mage Tower was upon release—then it will be a huge insult to all players but Mythic raiders, because the bar will be raised each time we get close to reaching it.

Keep in mind that these Torghast layers are not just for achievements, bragging rights, or cosmetic rewards, but are tied to a currency we all need for character power, and crafted legendaries were advertised as a key feature of this expansion before we bought it.

Can I just add that even mentioning rule 1 is wrong.

I think adding a text like the multipliers of each floor maybe a recommended ilvl over the icon of each floor. Letting someone know that this floor is for more geared people and not simply you need god tier rng for powers. Though you could possibly still do that floor with the low ilvl it will just be very hard.

How does players should never feel punished for how they choose to play — or who they choose to play with mean doesn’t encourage finding a group to do.

you can play how you want, but encouraging players not to find a grp is not what their going for. If you have problems clearing, play with a group. Its a game, and sadly its not perfectly balanced. Some classes will have a harder time then others whether you think its fair or not.

Your tongue is so deep inside Blizzard’s a$$ that your nose is brown.

Nah this place is straight up overtuned. Dont tell me you need to be mythic geared because I am, even ran a few plus 6 mythics already within the time. I ran with a 4 man all ilvl 190 and guess what, we wiped on last boss in two different runs. On floor 8 it’s like you on get trash power’s. I don’t know who they are trying to appeal to with this content but it’s a chore and mandatory one at that since it’s the only path to a legendary item. I’d say floor 8 is just a big waste of time, not worth the ash for sitting on that place for at least an hour or so just to wipe and get a repair bill.

Well im just gonna pick the best legendary for my spec and take 6 months to a year to get it maxed out due to as it stands I have no desire to play any layer past layer 3 with these new changes and I already deal with enough groups running mythics and I dont want to deal with another running Torghast. I’m just upset as they said many times it was for both players waiting solo and group play and they make it next to impossible for solo play after a month in.

This thread was worth bookmarking. A few examples of “satisfaction.”:

Well the problem is while there are alot of people in that mindset. There are just as many riding Blizz’s coattails and touting how every change is for the better. It will be the same old formula where things will be awful and get boring after a couple months in and people will stop playing and into patch 9.3 or whatever is the patch before next xpac they will make changes that make it worth it for a few months and the cycle repeats. Its a bummer as solo content is what I enjoy about this game and Solo Raiding being scaled poorly is nothing new at the beginning of an Xpac because Blizz clearly doesn’t care much about Solo play vs Group play. However to constantly boast that Torghast is for solo and group play and then make it to overtuned after a month in just shows more serious thought can be put into this other than “It’s too easy for tanks and heals so lets increase everything.” Just yet another way to frustrate
an already annoyed fanbase.

Dear Blizzard,

Torghast was fun before… Now its not… Good job on killing the only fun solo content you’ve made in 3 expansions!

My sentiments exactly. This was probably the glue to this whole expansion for me. Raiding is cool, M+ is cool, did those for years. I really don’t like the maw but I had a reason to run it, because Torghast was some really fun solo content. I could do it as a healer, it wasn’t too hard if I payed attention, and I got my weekly reward.

But they snatched it away with these changes. Can’t solo it as a healer anymore. Don’t want to try to find groups because I don’t pug stuff, and the time I can group with people is spent running things for gear.

Oh well. Shadowlands was a great expansion for 3 weeks.

Why do you feel level 7 is something you should be able to easily beat at your current gear and skill level?

Because level 6 was something I was able to easily beat with less gear at my current skill level. Level 7 should be a step up in challenge, but not this significant of a step up. You don’t generally go from easy directly to your ceiling, that’s not a good feeling of progression.

My skill level had me 2-healing heroic N’zoth and 7/12 mythic last expac, as well as timing +18 keys. I’m not the best player by a long shot, but I have enough skill to be competitive in most environments. I’m definitely above average at the very least.

And my ilvl is pretty decent. I’m 190 in MW spec. There’s absolutely no reason I should be having this much trouble right now with how the content was initially intended.

Well, last week everyone was talking about how much easier it was for tanks and healers so maybe it was because of that?

190 is equivalent to 435 in 8.3.

Nobody was calling 435 gear good.

Regardless. I liked how it was before. The difficulty felt decent for the length of these things. Now it’s both tedious and lengthy, with nothing to reward other than soul ash.

Yeah, I know soul ash is important, but it doesn’t feel good as a solitary reward. Not to mention that you collect absolutely nothing for a failed run.

All in all, it was a good system for me previously. The climb grew steadily in difficulty without being too overbearing, and I could solo it as a healer, as was advertised. It is no longer enjoyable and the reward is not enticing enough to participate in these.

Sadly, the currency itself is important. So I’m in a bad spot with this expansion now, due to these changes. I can push myself through frustrating, unfulfilling and lengthy content for a currency needed to progress, or I can choose not to do this horrible part of the game, fall behind and eventually just give up the expansion entirely until the proper changes are made.

If you like these changes, that’s wonderful. I do not. I liked Torghast prior to them and I was looking forward to a slight increase in difficulty. Not this nonsense that not only made the next levels far too demanding in both time and effort for the reward structure, but it also increased the difficulty and tedium in the levels I have already completed.

So I’m hoping that the difficulty is brought down within reason, or that they add more to the reward structure to make the investment worthwhile to me.

Completely agree with OP. The one thing I was enjoying about this expansion is now a total waste of time. Nerf Classes, Jack up content…AFTER release is just lazy development. If folks were steam rolling through Torghast…SO WHAT! Whats the point of having it tuned just right on release, and then jacking it up three weeks later.

Have you tried doing it with a group?

We’re not even a month into the game; I doubt very much that Blizzard intended people to be getting that far, that quickly.

THIS! Folks forget how early we are into this expansion.

Yeah, I run with a group sometimes. But this was advertised as solo content. Something I could do on the side. I already have my fill of groups running dungeons and raid content. This is becoming too much group-required content to complete in a weekly cycle for me. I have kids in school, my friends have differing work schedules and some have their own children. It’s too much.

Also, I do not like pugging. If I cannot do this content as it was advertised, then I simply won’t do it. But the biggest issue is that I actually liked it. I really want to continue the way I was. They gave me a fun part of the game to play by myself and then they took it away.

Also, why wouldn’t they intend people to be getting that far? They’re literally releasing them a little at a time. They’re artificially gating our progression with these. So yeah, I expected to be “getting that far” as for the last 3 weeks I was “getting that far.”

There is a challenge version of this that isn’t even out yet, because we’re slowly climbing up with these gates. This isn’t the challenge version. This is the quest to get to the challenge version.

They literally delayed the expansion to make sure this stuff launched properly. “Fixing” it this late into it because the climb over the last few weeks wasn’t what they intended is an asinine claim.

Torghast sucks. It’s the worst thing implemented into the game. Was supposed to be different from the dungeon grind, but it’s exactly the same now without the gear. It’s awful.

I have played since vanilla and this is the only thing that has made me consider quitting for another game.
