Except that it’s not because legendaries are gated behind it and so is the story. Guess what happens when holy paladins don’t have shock barrier? They lose throughput! Shock barrier makes up roughly 10% of a paladin’s total throughput with it equipped, passively for no mana cost. Flash Concentration and Harmonious Apparatus contribute significantly to holy priest’s throughput and X’anshi gives you a cushion for learning mechanics when your guild is going through content for the first time. Ideally, I would have all of these legendaries but considering they’re locked behind a mindnumbing instance with overtuned poorly and very lazily designed “mechanics” while someone else who might not even be as good as me could just get super lucky and rng their way through to the legendaries with no issues because they got all the dps powerups they need. Really this system is only slightly better than titanforging if at all.
If players wanted legendaries, they are most likely doing end game content that has many gear and skill checks in play and that is no different from the higher layers of Torghast. Again, if players are finding it difficult at higher layers but want a legendary, they can do the lower layers for a bulk of the dust to get their item. This benefits both the players that want a challenge and those who don’t, how is this in anyway bad game design when it’s as fair as possible?
Or they want legendaries because it’s a legendary? It changes gameplay? It ADDS to the game? It makes them feel stronger? If I go with your logic why even do mythic dungeons? Gearing is optional. I don’t have to do it if I’m not doing content with gear checks, like ERPing. At that point I guess AP grinds the last two expansions were also optional and I could of just unequiped my legion artifact and punched everything to death.
And your other statment I’ve basically already responded to a million times. I’m losing power compared to other people because I don’t feel like sitting there restarting the run 6 times for the perfect set of powers. There is NO mechanical difference in difficulty between floor 1 and floor 8. The “difficulty” is everything hits you 10 times harder and you need perfect roles to defeat it. That doesn’t make it difficult or provide a challenge it makes it annoying. I should be able to do all the content I want to in a solo instance and be gated by how good I AM not how well the number generator is treating me.
I’m well aware of that. But, that wasn’t what you said. The quote was
Not “Higher levels of Torghast are 100% optional content.” I quoted what you said, not what you meant, as I don’t make it a habit of reading minds and/or scrying intent.
I’m sorry but this system does not operate the way you want it to, it rewards folks who have spent the time to learn their class and get the gear and there are many who have completed the upper layers with ease and do not have the same complaints. Again, if it’s too difficult there’s lower layers for a reason, what’s the issue with that?
…when it feels like even giving you that option. Or, alternatively, stacking your health and defenses so high that you’d literally have to be standing there with your thumb inserted doing nothing to die. Also when it wants to give you that option. RNG being what it is.
There’s a lot of player skill involved in picking the right power ups, knowing what spec to pick, what gear to use and how to approach the layout of the map. If you’re struggling, there’s many resources online to guide you or even try asking in the class forums!
Once again… no way this isnt a troll. “picking the right powerups” yea it really took me a good .04 seconds to realize that the power up that increases my wings by 60% is better than the powerup that makes my FROST damage as a holy paladin have a small chance to do 5% of the enemies health. Now if only I got it everytime I ran a level…
Do i pick up the power that lowers my disengage by 15 seconds, or do i pick up the power that explodes mawrats that are never around the mobs/bosses that are actually hard? Hmmm so much power to choose from. Surely its all just a player skill issue and not a RNGfest that determines the outcome.
P.S. Which is fine if that is what they want. If they want to just stop a run when you get a string of bad powers because it is going to severely limit your ability to finish the layer, that’s fine.
