Torghast changes for healers and tanks

I guess as long as this is to keep things balanced with solo DPS, it shouldn’t be a huge issue. But next time DPS find themselves enjoying solo content that tanks or healers aren’t, you know what will be brought up as justification for retuning right?

I’m not obsessed. That’s the different between us.

I play the game to have fun.

YOu all seem to play the game… well for reason that make very little sense to someone who enjoys playing video games and doesn’t need to be “rewarded” for doing so.

You’ll be able to play the game just fine without jumping into Torghast.

I think blizz likes to see the torghast tears…

Literally no one likes doing tortrash, and now they want to make it harder/take longer.

Yep, these devs are just as dumb as they were 5 years ago.

So do the rest of us, but if you just want to be dismissive and act like we’re not then I guess there’s no point in discussing any further.

See I use to argue with this statement now I just flag it for trolling :joy:

notice that they didn’t nerfed prot pally, it means that we still be able to solo it with no much problem, at least layer 4 or 5, but it’ll take longer…I just want enough sou ash to craft a legendary every 2 weeks, just wnat that appearence set for transmog (when availible)

Really, because for most of you it doesn’t sound like you are having fun. Do you normally have fun by facerolling your keyboard while watching a movie until it’s time for the loot spam?

That doesn’t sound like people who enjoy games that much to me.

Yes and also capped.

So ten minute bosses will take fifteen minutes to beat, woo! Thats dumb blizzard - damage sponge enemies are NOT the way to represent difficulty increases and anyone that enjoys high difficulty games knows that when difficulty = massive amounts of health it also equals no fun.

Already bored with Torghast after 15ish runs over multiple alts, it’s just a boring slog now. Takes 45 mins for a run and probably longer now with the buffs.

Upgrading legendaries isnt that big of a boost anyway, I’m sure some people will craft the best one and just coast on it. I don’t blame them, your solo content sucks and you make it more time consuming lol…

sigh The most fun I’ve had in this game is with friends not in challenging content per se… but when the power level is at the most absurd and things just die but also hit like a truck so you have to watch mechanics.

Honestly? Torghast takes too long. It sucks to slog through four layers (I don’t count level 3) of slow kills to only get to the final boss… and have them be unkillable because ‘oops’ you should have taken X anima power instead of ‘Y’. It just serves to frustrate me… and honestly make me not like the content. I’ve just put nearly an hour of my life into the game to do the content they created and my total take away: a repair bill, two sets less of drums, and zilch to show for my efforts.

This isn’t fun for me. I like to feel like when I spend time on something I actually get something out of that time investment. Shadowlands as a whole as a major issue with that.

A lot of comments are pointing out that, yes, these changes don’t really add challenge. They just increase your time spent in the instance. From the developers’ standpoint, I don’t doubt that’s the point.

As many of you may know, if you hold Activision-Blizzard stock, you can sit in on a regular phonecall where company revenue and projections are laid out. In the old days, they would brag about the sheer number of subscriptions to World of Warcraft.

Then Cataclysm was released. cough

Now, to save face, the metric they brag about on the call is the average amount of time players stay logged in. This is actually a very smart move no matter what the subscription numbers are, because more and more people grind for gold in order to get game time through tokens (which cost more than basic game time). Meanwhile, players in the Chinese market pay by the minute.

I’m really enjoying Shadowlands so far, but fluff and timewasting is absolutely baked into it. Below average drop rates. Fewer flight paths. No flight whistle. Grindy, multi-part world quests. More time tabbed out to Wowhead because your task isn’t intuitively explained in-game. A leveling campaign loaded with cutscenes or walk-and-talk quests. An alt experience that takes even longer that the campaign itself. Etc.

So, how does that tie back to Torghast? We’ll, I think players are more inclined to each task being tied to their character progression. The age of addiction-based gaming is over. (Classic wouldn’t have the retention it does if it didn’t launch with the 1.12 talents.) Something should always have an immediate reward relative to the task so you don’t log out feeling like the time is lost. This keeps tasks from feeling like chores.

I don’t think showering players with gear is the answer. Instead, I would tie it to something simple and secondary, such as having the bosses drop a conduit for any of your specs that scales to your ilvl. People may then look forward to multiple runs and feel encouraged to try or master another role.

There’s likely other options.

Why is it so horrible to play a video game for 45 minutes?

and if you read the notes it really only is going to impact solo mode… So yeah you should have it as difficult as a solo rogue. I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

From what healers were saying, it was much much easier as a healer. I have been doing them as elemental (when I main resto) and whilst slow, they have been pretty easy and fun. They just buffed the absolute hell out of the anima powers. Looks like it will be easier for many and only bring others back to the pack. It also addresses a concern that people had with the content. The middle floors were just too easy. By the time you got a few good powers, you would knock it over. Then people would complain that the difficulty climbed massively for the final boss and they wasted time with no challenge until the very end. This fixes that problem.

LOL I don’t know why I keep staying here and giving ION more chances. I am beginning to hate these people. Want to play solo, nah, force you to group with people you don’t really want to. I’ll take my expendable income elsewhere I think!

They were trying to make it less soloable for tanks, because the fact that it was soloable for tanks made it unplayable for other classes.

Why would a tank join a group and spend even more time in there if they don’t have to? There’s a reason why groups are looking for tanks for 30 minutes at a time. Imagine how much worse the dungeon queue would be if tanks could solo mythics. That’s basically what torghast was.

What is absolutely mind blowing though is how they immediately counter acted this bg making this stupid place take even longer. There’s no reason for the health increase of anything, other than to make this even more of an unbearable grind.

“People are engaging with Torghast for record amounts of time, so we’ll consider this a success”

Like, that’s actually the opinion they’ll have in whatever Quarterly callings report is next.

people where blowing away mobs as tanks and heals at an alarming rate, sadly as much as it displeases me that this will lengthen my runs i see they are attempting to balance torg experience for all players without outright nerfing it to the ground.

Also honestly group runs are just better anyway you slice it.
