I bought a token a few months ago on Cata Classic, so I could come back later and play with my friend on retail. He just got back into the game after years and I wanted to help him get used to the new changes since WoD.
I can’t access the token though. It won’t let me use it from the character screen on retail and when I try to get to the character screen on Cata Classic, it just refuses to let me on, saying I don’t have an active sub.
Why is it designed like this? I can’t open a ticket either because it’s all automated. All I need is like 1 hour of gametime on my account so I can log on Cata Classic and use that token, then I have a whole month. I’m kind of frustrated because I’m worried I won’t be able to get a GM’s attention with this thread or anything else.
If a GM sees this, can you do me a solid? I really want to play with my friend and I can’t afford to just buy gametime. That’s why I got the token in the first place, lol.
Tech support if mainly player discussion about crashes and lag, and is not monitored by the GM staff. You could put in a ticket to see if it is possible, it may not be. As long as the token is in your inventory, and it is for game time, not to sell on the AH, they probably can.
It’s a limitation present on Classic, where you need game time to access, there is no veteran or trial accounts yet like there are on retail.
Not sure why, but even on Customer Support it’s not monitored by GM staff, and does not bypass the need for a ticket, so do put in a ticket. No guarantee.
Shoutout to Gamemaster Eostynu, who gave me a free day of time that completely solved my issue. I was able to hop on Cata and use the token I had and now have 1 month access to WoW again. I was really worried they would deny me, but I’m glad to know there’s still helpful GMs around!
Thanks again Kozzae for linking me directly to the ticket submission. It’s been so long since I tried to open one, I assumed there wasn’t an option to do it anymore. See you all in Azeroth.
Please keep in mind that this is an exception to the rule and usually a one off for an account. If you plan on using Classic era tokens for game time, make sure you use them prior to running out of game time.
