Those were influenza’s not coronaviruses. They also appeared to have recently jumped species and thus hadn’t evolved to be perfectly adapted to be so contagious in humans.
They may make a working vaccine, who knows. Or it may be the vaccinating against a coronavirus in pandemic just creates additional evolutionary pressure and opportunity to for the virus to adapt even quicker.
I did read the chain, it’s just as moronic. Trying to equate not having a cure as to reason on why someone isn’t getting a vaccine is asinine. I highly doubt the people getting the smallpox vaccine cared that it wasn’t a full blown cure.
There is no cure for cancer either so my suggestion is to never step outside ever again.

Following that logic, smokers shouldn’t have the right to treatment in case they develop cancers. If it were on you, people taking recreational drugs shouldn’t get treatment either in case of severe adverse effects.

And what about cirrhosis? Should we let them all die of it? Let’s not talk about sexually transmitted diseases either. Let’s have those HIV-positives who got infected because they didn’t use a condom die because “they were selfish”.

Here in New Zealand we literally just got our first Delta community case so our government has placed us in a short preliminary lockdown. We’re so lucky here to have escaped this terrible situation without the massive casualties so this is a timely reminder to stay vigilant.
It’s worth mentioning that many who survive polio suffer life changing disfigurement , so death statistic comparisons at this point don’t tell the whole story. Also it seems likely there’ll be some that don’t recover from COVID without either mid-term or permanent problems. Time will tell.
Also, both types of polio vaccine induce immunity to polio, as well as blocking person to person transmission. There is no cure for polio, only treatments to relieve symptoms, plus there’s also vaccine-induced polio to complicate the issue.
