To Tinker H8ters

Good thing you don’t speak for all people…

I believe paladins started in WC2 to counter DK…same time as steampunk joined Warcraft. WC3 Tinker class. All classes from the RTS are in the game except Tinker.

Almost every person against Tinker either doesn’t know they’re from the RTS (before WoW) or says I don’t like them, so, “No” because.

I sure don’t. Not sure I ever said i did but hey at least we cleared that up

Grats. You landed in the, “It’s not for me so no one should have them” category.

I am not against it, But It would need to be done properly, and the name ‘tinker’ sucks, It could be something like a Machinist, Or engineer but ultimately the same concept applies.

Yeeting bombs, Throwing turrets, Throwing spanners, Yelling cus words and the likes

could be cool.

I thought we already cleared up the fact that I don’t make the rules.

If you’re upset that I don’t agree with you i’m sorry. I don’t

I’m not upset. I’m just pointing out that no one in the history of anti-tinker comments on the forums has ever given a legitimate reason against them being a class. Not a single person can say, they’re not lore. Two racial leaders are Tinkers. All you have is, “It’s not for me.”

I’m pretty sure I don’t have to justify myself to you or anyone else.

As I already said everything about them is already been dissected and put into other professions and classes.

You can disagree all you want it’s a public forum… But i’m not here to have some scholarly debate about lore

“It’s not for me”

O k i’m just gonna be over here now

Love you

I have nothing against you. I respect your opinion. I’m just saying you’ve offered nothing beyond that the class isn’t something you’re interested in. You can’t say it’s not in the lore. You can’t say it wasn’t a hero class and it wasn’t in HoTs. You can’t say it’s not a class that racial leaders are. All you’re giving me, like a lot of anti-tinkers, is it’s covered by engineering (you know a lot of pve and pvp players that use attacks from engineering?) and other classes (hunters use mechs and robots?)?

Why do I play a game with space ships and alien invasions (starting with Orcs and Dreanei) that are against a tech class? I don’t understand it.

Death Knights have been around since Warcraft 2, undeniably.

Not that it’s an inherently bad idea, but it just kind of already exists, and there are other new class ideas that I think are far more likely to happen.

In name only. The playable Death Knights have no connection to the Shadow Council.

Tinkers didn’t exist, not even in name on Warcraft 2.

It doesn’t fit into the game as a class. You might want to be a hunter engineering, maybe goblin to do your RP if you want.

This is really the core reason why Tinkers probably won’t happen. Engineering Survival hunter already exists.

I don’t want to play a Tinker. But it would be incredibly dishonest of me to argue that they don’t have a history in the franchise just because I don’t care for them, personally. Both Horde and Alliance had units in WCII that established the technology that culminated in WCIII’s Tinker hero.

I don’t understand why you play it, either. If you want cyberpunk, go do something that is largely centered around cyberpunk, instead of something based on magic?

Could they add tinkers in? Yes, I guess so. There have been good points made for it. There were tinkers in WCIII. There is available tech. There are characters in the game who use that tech extensively. Mechagnomes exist, for crying out loud, and they ARE largely technology.

Is that tech the focus of World of Warcraft, though? When I use a flight path, it is rarely an airplane or gyrocopter. It is usually a flying beast rather than a plane unless a favorited machine is chosen, or flying out of certain places such as Sholazar Basin. The Dark Portal was magic instead of science, wasn’t it? The Exodar is STILL a broken hunk of machinery. The Vindicar is a plot point used when they need it and ignored the rest of the time.

WoW has technology, but that is not the focus. Blizzard has shown that through their storytelling so far. Mekkatorque is currently a cool character partly because he has fancy gadgets and machines we don’t. If Blizzard changes the focus of the story, such as an expansion focusing on gnomes and goblins duking it out for who makes the coolest items (gods save us all), it just feels awkward to me.

I don’t think the points made for having tinkers are really all that compelling. People who want tinkers don’t think the arguments against them are compelling. So there really isn’t much conversation here, more stating our thoughts and snipping at each other. I’ve stated mine, I’m in the mood for cyberpunk, so I’m going to watch Arcane again. =)

It seems like people are worried/expectant that if Tinkers/Machinists/Artificers we’re added WoW would be irrevocably changed to be tech centric when that’s just not true.

Yes the class roster would permanently changed to have tech representation, you may occasionally have one in your group, but the game at large, not a chance.

Consider Mists of Pandaria, it CERTAINLY had a distinct aesthetic which was largely left within that expansion, I’d expect no different from an xpac that had tech elements.

When you grow up, you’re going to have to start accepting that you are not the center of the universe, despite what mommy has told you, and that other people have opinions and that’s OK. Or not, there’s plenty of awful grown-ups running around too, I guess, you could be one of those if that’s what you aspire to. Good luck!

Not irrevocably. Temporarily. I’m just not interested in a zany steampunk Goblins & Gnomes expansion.
