To those that want to see an end to premades

Wow, this person is actually stating in a civil way a valid point and you want to flag for trolling? I think you need to take a deep breath and step away from your keyboard.

Threatening to action someone because you don’t agree with them is hardly appropriate on the forums and borderline bullying in my view.

“there’s no argument (and I refuse to give one, but I’ll still post) because there’s no problem since the only issue is on your end” resembles trolling. I didn’t want to say gaslighting because it’s easy to overuse, but the thought of him possibly doing it crossed my mind

There is no 100% solution but matchmaking helped a bit. Generally, once they had some matchmaking the games stopped being absolute blowouts at busy times. When there were less players the matchmaking systems got a lot sloppier to avoid long queues and the matches could be more lopsided.

There were other solutions that could have been used like a handicapping system to boost weaker players. However, the players generally receive those poorly so Blizzard has tended to stay with systems that are not so visible.

Matchmaking is something that, generally, can only help the games. It’s worth applying because the chances it will harm the game is very minimal, there is a lot of research and work readily available in the field, and it’s mostly invisible to the players.

Actually it’s not. The issue with premades vs pugs has never been about losing, it’s being matched up against a premade in the first place.

There is in acceptance. We knew it was broke going into it.

Screw messing with queues and all that. Only one fix is necessary - it would totally work and would be hilarious to boot.

Just ubercasualize the rank system so just about everybody can hit rank 14. Say it will take…14 weeks… Just PvP for a certain amount of X every week and youre guaranteed to go up one rank every week. It would still take 3 and a half months but can be done a lot more casually and let people enjoy bgs for the fun of them.

I think you need to read more of the forums. People window dress their rationale in many ways but at the end of the day its about taking the L.

We didn’t however know, they would cross realm bgs, no, we did not know that, that certainly wasn’t Vanilla. Yet, they made an alteration to account for current systems/participation levels etc, which is something that could be done with this issue as well.

No it’s about having a completely stacked and unfun game. That a loss follows that is coincidence not the core of the complaints.

I don’t know why people are reluctant to identify cross realms for being the major problem that it is. Instead they go on and on about premades and everything else but fail to see those are all symptoms of a much larger problem.

Cross realms. They enable so many things that people don’t like about the current state of BG’s and instead and instead of addressing it they talk about LFR, MMR, Matchmaking, algorithms etc etc.

Sadly I think I’ve read someplace where xrealm was in vanilla at this point in time patch wise in vanilla. Don’t really care if it is true or not but I would like to see it gone.

Stop trying to pretty up the pig.

People have substituted many words here trying to make their suggestions seem more palatable. At the end of the day it comes down to taking the L.

Thought exercise for you. What would happen if you got the same honor/rep rewards for winning or losing? Everyone gets a participation ribbon for pvp. Why not ask for that instead of instituting a system that will not work and only increase Q times? If it isn’t about taking the L and you are being properly rewarded for your efforts this would also be fair yes?

But I like lima beans! So…oh wait, you said no reasonable person. That’s fair.

That is my opinion. There have been forum complaints about many other BG actions, and in every case it is “I lost because my opponents did this: ban it!”

This is an MMO, and battlegrounds are GROUP fights. Planning and organizing are legitimate strategies. If you “just want to run around and kill stuff” then BGs in MMOs are not designed for you. Don’t expect them to be.

I think you fail to understand that the people complaining about this issue don’t necessarily care about hph and as such don’t particularly care about the loss.

They care about having a fun game, and pug stomping isn’t fun.

As for your thought exercise you claim simply matching pugs with pugs and premades with premades wouldn’t work(but can’t explain why), you realize how ripe for abuse that system would be?

No, I don’t fail to see anything. In fact it is the opposite, I see what you are saying but what I don’t see is a viable solution.

You present me one worthy of consideration and I will stand behind it.

I have already acknowledged one such solution but it has nothing to do with premades themselves.

And I fail to see how it’s not a viable solution which you have failed to explain beyond vague fear mongering claims about queue times.

If you separate the two you won’t be able to guarantee pugs get less honor per hour than premades. I propose bonus honor for joining the premade queue, as players there are trying harder.

Yes, yes you did and on many levels. 2 questions, first when did you start playing wow? What expac? 2nd what private server where you on?

I’ve been playing since a few months after launch, you might notice my vanilla pvp title :stuck_out_tongue:

never touched a private server.

Kinda funny you’re trying to call me out on my experience while posting on a character with none…

I don’t necessarily think they SHOULD get less honor. A high success rate in solo and group v group both represent facets of pvp skill.

If you can just be dropped in the brawl and come out victorious time after time it demonstrates the ability to flourish amid chaos and adapt well to situations outside of your control.

Doing well in organized group v group matches demonstrates your ability to coordinate and work well as a cohesive team.

Both are good demonstrations of pvp skill, and there is a lot of overlap in your better pvpers. They can succeed in either environment, but they usually have a preference for one or the other. For that reason, I’d want both to be valid options for ranking. But, since since premade v premade matches are likely to be longer and more competitive, they probably would need a boost to keep honor earning parity between the two. I don’t want to see premading be a worse option than soloing either.

Premades aren’t a problem for a player base with the maturity and sentience to handle it. What we got here is a bunch of four year olds playing with matches.

And how did that go for you?

There were hundreds of AV happening at all times, around 5-600 at the start but even after the big rep grind was over and up until those major changes it was still running 200+ at a time.

Then Horde whined, got their way, changes happened.

Monday evening, during a crisis forcing everyone inside, right after a major content release drew people back.

5 AV right now. If we consider the west/east split, that’s still a 98% drop in participation from launch. That’s upwards of 32000 players in AV, down to 800 in mere months.

Good job on that Horde, but lets go one step further and pretend that Horde are correct, that the 1% win rate in AV isn’t because of a map but because Alliance puggers are absolutely horrible and have no chance of ever winning BGs.

So we get rid of premades, and now the win rate is 1% for Alliance in WSG/AB/AV. What do you think happens next?

If you guessed 4+ hour queues for every BG for Horde, grats, you win the prize. The prize being 4 hour queues for every BG.

And before you try to sell the story that ‘without premades, Alliance pugs will win more’, keep in mind that we’ve already heard that one.

Now frankly, I don’t actually care- sure, get rid of premades, have your 5 hour queues if you want them that badly. Just don’t brag about getting Blizz to make changes for you when every change destroys this game even more.

I suppose though if your chance of winning rises to 100%, it’s worth any raise in queues you can get eh?
