That argument has gotten old. We all know a holes exist. No reason to gimp yourself out on gear cause you don’t know how to block someone or make your own party. What’s funny is I poorly healed a dungeon as shaman (as I am unfamiliar with the Resto spec) the other day and 2 people died and nobody said nothing. They didn’t care at all. They even thanked me for healing. Today I ran a few dungeons to get down my healing rotation and a rogue (I can tell she was new) died CONSTANTLY! I just kept rezzing her, healing her, and shielding her. She didn’t know the Mueh’zala phase where you go thru Bwonsomdi port and she died again. Nobody said nothing. We didn’t care. She is obviously new. So this “people are mean”…no not always. You are in your head. If you can survive these forums, you can run a dungeon.
Get a grip! They weren’t calling you, your friends, your guild, etc., out, personally. They specifically said:
So, unless you, your friends, your guild, etc., act this way (via fall under that category), I can understand why you (specifically) may be feeling all bent.
But, if the specification hurt you in your feels, then perhaps you, your friends, your guild, etc., are the exact group the poster is trying to avoid.
In which case, it ain’t your business nor your problem to try to force people (in this case, the poster in question) to play with nor like you. I’d say good riddance! One less problem (not that I, personally, think the poster, specifically, is a problem, just assuming their opinion might, keyword, be) you gotta worry about.
People like you are the reason I have to specify “some (not all) people” because of how you (specifically and generally who feel the same) personally and (not to mention) nitpicky you get and thinking some (not all) are talking about you, personally.
I can’t speak for the person who doesn’t like how they have to finish a campaign. When I started queuing for dungeons back in WotLK, folks were friendly, helpful, patient, tolerant, and, basically, nice. By the time (normal) instances became 2-man dungeons for 5 people, the kind of people I ran into tended to be unfriendly, unhelpful, impatient, intolerant, and, basically, unkind. I decided that the gear was not worth putting up with that kind of mentality. I altered my play style so that gear is no longer the principal goal. I’m having a blast without the dungeons. The MMO part, assuming my server isn’t dead, just means there will be interesting/useful things in the AH. Each to their own.
This happened to me after I was forced to RP with my relatives. Coming back to normal servers nearly disheartened me how unplayable the game is. Draenor-EU (biggest Horde-server EU) is a mess, it has no style, no dignity. It is just a mindless mass of people playing like they own the place.
As an Asian I always go back to Pandaria, it really feels like home. The good thing is, you can actually meet a lot of RPers there if you follow the events which makes it always worth visiting.
My advice: Move over to RP-servers the moment the bulk transfer options become available.
Plenty of solo content out there, where I’m not forced to group with people, and I enjoy doing that content, moreso. If I want to, my spouse can join me, and we can play that content, as a couple without outside forces ruining our experience.
I play on RP servers. Got a guildie with a not so RP appropriate name. It’s not this guild, I’m posting on, and I can’t do call outs, so let’s just say, you’ll be fine. Just gotta deal with our chill slow paced attitude
Nah I like high pop normals you get all the current political arguments on both sides. And when people think of rp they think of Moonguard and the wierd crap that goes on from there
While, I agree the poster in question shouldn’t be playing any games while working, I don’t think the other player berating about damage meters is correct, either.
Imagine the poster not being at work but new to the game? And, that’s how players want to behave?
I get that nobody is obligated to help noobies and perhaps noobies might be wasting time of others for not knowing fights but screaming at each other and calling each other names isn’t making the run anymore efficient nor less time consuming, either.
This is going to be a book, so I apologize on the front end.
I agree with this statement 100%.
BUT, do they just not enjoy Dungeons OR do they not enjoy Dungeons because most everyone that plays this game these days thinks that they are getting a round trip ticket to the M+ Championship or whatever it’s called and are ABSOLUTELY jerks to anyone that isn’t perceived as being “L33T” like they think they are?
I’ve been playing since release. As in original release. We all know times change, but a lot of us Old Timers are looking for the experience we had back in the day. We just can’t seem to find it, no matter how much we chase it. Part of that could be due to time commitment issues, real life issues, medical issues, work issues, etc. But, it doesn’t change the fact that we would like to play the game… which, unfortunately, includes Dungeon access via the Looking For Group tool.
Let me expound further by saying this: Most all Guilds that could be considered Casual are pretty much dead. Most of my Roster has been offline for over a year. I’ve looked for other “casual” Guilds and typically it would start off well, but over time the Rosters there would slowly die as well.
I’ve seen this Guild death happen since the start of TBC when 40 mans were just a thing of the past. We all should have known that it was coming as soon as Zul’Gurub released as a 20-man Raid in Vanilla. What this did for Raiding Guilds then was essentially give them an A-Team and a B-Team. That created an entirely new set of issues, i.e. the A-Team had 17/20 log on to raid and the B-Team had 12/20 log on to raid, whereas before we ALWAYS had our core 40 online ready to raid with 5 Alternates ready to step in at any time. The next thing you know, we couldn’t even put a 40-man Raid together to gear alts. I thought - and hoped - it was just a fluke; but I saw every Raiding Guild on my Server either fall completely apart, or drastically reduce in size.
We can theorize all day about what happened, but it comes down to these three major things:
It now takes less time to complete 5 Dungeons than the time it took everyone to even travel to the Dungeon entranceafter spending an hour advertising in Ironforge or Orgrimmar to get a group together.
There is no such thing as patience anymore - in a GAME. That’s right, a GAME - not a JOB, a GAME. A lot of the playerbase has turned what should be a fun experience into something that makes you feel like you should at least be getting paid minimum wage to play, due to the fact that it feels more like a job than a good time.
Most of us understand that everyone else has run these Dungeons quite a bit, and that’s fine if you want to speed-run them, but if you are kicking a Player from group or leaving a Player behind that is clearly lost because it is their first time in there, or their DPS is sub-par due to the fact that the over-geared tank pulls the entire Dungeon to each boss: here’s some bad news for you, Sunshine, you are acting like an elitist jerk and have ruined that poor person’s gaming experience.
Before anyone jumps in and starts screaming “LOLZ, THAY SHUD HAV SED SUMTHIN B4 WE STARTED”, I ask this: When? When could they have said something? No one talks in group, no one even offers to explain an encounter, they don’t even ask if everyone knows how to do the encounter if there are any special mechanisms for success in place… no one waits for anything anymore. And if a person does ask, they are typically berated.
Look, we’re older… we’re tired… our reaction time might not be what it once was… but we still want to play the game that we all still love - even if we’re holding on to nostalgia that will never be there again.
I think that it’s safe to say that anyone that has been alive on this planet over the past three years is extremely stressed the hell out right now, so we would just like an outlet that takes us away from all of the crap going on in our daily lives.
The only thing that I can personally offer is this: If you want to run a Dungeon, stress free, no rushing, you can add me to friends and I will be more than happy to run them with you. My play time is mostly limited to weekends, but I’ll help you get geared in Normal, Heroic, or Mythic… at our own pace. We can kill every single mob in there if you want… even the critters, I don’t care.
You can play whatever role you want - I have multiple Tank, Healer, and DPS alts - both Horde and Alliance. I have been trying to get more like-minded individuals together to do just this for the past few years - unsuccessfully. I would LOVE to do some M+, but pugging that is just… NO.
Honestly I don’t mind older dungeons that are more straightforward. Straightforward mechanics, straightforward layout. I’m not the young kid I used to be, my reaction times aren’t what they use to be, and honestly after a day at work, I would rather relax. Some of the mechanics in current dungeons seem just way to annoying, the spear mechanic in one of the Bastion dungeons, the hook lining up thing in another one, just no.
I think it’s a great idea, but would people actually be kind enough to acknowledge the fact even if given a visual indicator? Let’s face it, there isn’t really much of a community anymore.
