To people who refuse to do dungeons, even normal…why?

Yep. It doesn’t happen to everyone, so you have people saying, “I have never experienced that, therefore it doesn’t exist”. Obviously that is very fallacious thinking.

Just remembered the experience I had when I came back to WoW after leaving for the 2nd time after BFA endgame got boring. I was playing my frost mage, doing Necrotic Wake. I was like level 54 and this other frost mage was in the group and he was level 60 and obviously more geared than I was, on top of being 6 levels higher.

And he was toxic AF and berating me for not doing as much DPS as him. Also I was literally at work so it was like a 40 second period where I was just spamming Ice Lance because I was doing work on my work computer with my other hand. I almost just unsubbed again right there but instead I rolled an Alliance char and found people who aren’t dbags.

Unfortunately some people take pleasure from making others suffer. They most likely had terrible parents that abused them in some way.

I have found that there are jerks on both factions. Usually the rage is about someone else, since I tend to pump in leveling dungeons, due to having all the best enchants, plus research and practice of the rotations before hand. Not everyone does that. It is a game after all. We shouldn’t expect new players to know all that.

Thats why you should always roll with at least on friend in every dungeon that you do. I have not done a single dungeon below a Mythic this entire expac as I dont like grouping with people I dont know. Do a Mythic and it is a put together group of preselected people that you know.

just not feeling the group content vibe.

Different achievements total. It’s possible it’s a second account, but not as likely as someone else who likes DragonBallZ.

People just don’t want to be burdened being a tank or healer which is not a rewarding position to be in. Given the “go go go rush” mentality has been normalized as an acceptable behavior in this game, it really is no wonder that no regular players wants to play this mode anymore.

Past dungeons were simple and fun. Heirloom-equipment was nice, it didn’t take you out of a chilling experience. I’m so glad I have my family to do this dungeons with, it must be really painful to been put permanently under pressure if you just want to play at your pace after a hard day of work.

Now I enjoy dungeons much less than I used too. So I understand not wanting to do them at all.

Congrats for upgrading to Alliance!

I don’t run dungeons because I don’t like running dungeons.

I play an MMO because I get enough enjoyment out of playing to justify the cost of the subscription.

I don’t mind Dungeons. I mind Dungeons with other people.

  • I have severe anxiety that results in panic attacks, vomiting, migraines, etc.
  • I often have to go AFK and am poor company in a group
  • I am terrified of screwing up mechanics
  • I get lost all the time

And last, I hate feeling FORCED to do group content to play the base game! I want to finish my Convenant story, or get my basic profession steps without being FORCED into group content.

I made a thread on the CC about it. It addresses solo accessibility for Raids and Dungeons for both old, and current content.

To be fair, the person that complained right before you posted this was a new player that ran into the dungeon several times to do the quest and died. They didn’t know about group finder.

A solo mode dungeon option for players that prefer solo play would be cool. Probably not so easy to scale for some mob/boss mechanics, but not impossible I would think.

Having to deal with judgmental people who want you to play the dungeon their way and kick you out for no reason are a big turn off.

The other part about solo dungeon options is that it lets a person learn the layout and mechanics. It can serve to both allow solo players to finish the story AND serve as a path to more comfortably doing group content for those who just want to learn more first.

My CC post also suggests that getting lost/not knowing where to go is a pretty big issue for some. I wish we had something like an optional GPS in the dungeon where you can set waypoints and a spirit or footprints take you there. Just like we have for some of the more modern quests. Those are very helpful! Saves a lot of lost people on runback!

It’s a secret and I’ll never tell.

Hate to break it to you, but no one wants to listen to your garbage.

Calm yourself, and stop getting so worked up about people not wanting to play with you.

I mean, the more you post, the more you make the case for not wanting to group with unpleasant people.

And off you go to ignore, making the forums a more pleasant place.

  • click portrait
  • click preferences
  • Go to “Users” under Notifications.
  • Added to ignored list.

Bliss.

Would people being nice and patient change things or would you still feel uncomfortable with others around?

They probably had bad experiences with some of the more unsavory people that play this game. It’s all about speed in this game now.

If it takes an extra five seconds to complete anything there is a real chance of someone pitching a fit.

Timer/e-sports/rating. These things don’t help with that mentality.

I was lucky enough to have that in parts of Vanilla, BC, Wrath… I had some IRL friends who played and great guild friends too. BUT even then I was a project case and anyone who took me on a run knew I was going to need extra explanations, guidance, and patience.

That worked out, but it resulted in me feeling totally inadequate and guilty. Most of that is in my own head. My friends were fine and we all had a good time chatting on Vent while doing things.

Funny - I was actually Acting GM and an officer in a 40 man raiding guild where I raided every week. I hated it. I liked all the organization of getting a team of volunteers to show up with all their consumables for 12 hours a week and focus. I liked working on recruitment, guild direction, logistics, HR, writing guild apps, etc. Raid stressed me out.

These days we are all old, moved on with life, work, kids, retirement, etc.

I did run an old raid with one of the rare guild members who was back for a bit. It was something I could solo, but never had. He went so fast I could not keep up and had no idea what was going on at all. I find that stressful. It meant I could not figure out how and where to go when doing it on my own.

I get myself all worked into a panic, shut down, and just end up running after folks until it just ends and I can go back to solo whatever.

I hate that I have to do a stupid Dungeon for Campaign on my Warlock. Night Fae did not have that. Bastion does :frowning: It will probably be several years before I get it done.

I am just now doing the Legion profession quests because they gated them behind Dungeons. Now that I can solo them, I am doing them. It made me furious at the time. So glad they did not do that to SL.
