Until then I don’t want an early WoTLK prepatch. But if they release dual spec I’ll use it. It’ll spoil it for me though. A bit like being forced to open my christmas presents before Christmas. “Oh you don’t have to”. Yeah but I don’t want to be the last to open them either…
Edit
I could easily just keep changing my IP address and keep voting, I could also make a bot to do it. These polls are a joke of an attempt to show public opinion.
Let’s also go with some hard facts of was dual spec in tbc? No.
Did class and game design change drastically from tbc to wotlk when dual spec was added? Yes.
Is dual spec NEEDED for any reason in tbcc? No
Does it give access to content that is being prevented to some players? No.
Does it fix a problem with the game? No.
Being lazy and not playing the game is not being locked out of content, nor is it a problem with the game, wanting something does not equal needing it. If you don’t want to spend gold on respec and don’t want to farm gold and don’t want to group to do content, we’ll that means you don’t want to play tbcc.
Not in ways that change why people want dual spec.
It improves the experience for a lot of people and doesn’t negatively impact anyone, and yes not having it does result in people not doing things. Hence why dual spec was gasp added in the first place.
It enables you to singleplayer the entire game outside of raiding.
Dual spec was added so you retail players could achieve more without talking to others. It buffed characters and nerfed the game difficulty.
It only improves the experience of those who can’t see the magic of MMOs and why needing other players in the first place is why MMORPGs are special. You are trying to play an MMORPG in a single player lazy way. You don’t belong here. You belong in retail.
Yes. Game is on death door. No tanks, No healers. Areas of content quickly becoming a ghost town because players have no reason to go back to do things once they have farmed their 1 set of gear for 1 spec.
Yes. Many classes are very restricted to a single aspect of the game. Either pve or pvp. No middle ground. The cost of gold to go back and forth is the issue. You can’t realistically do it.
Those that think “Oh raids 2 times a week then nothing but pvp for the rest of the week means only 100g a week n respecs!” are very very naïve. You can EASILY go through 200-400g just by doing arenas, a raid, some heroics and gold farming in a single day.
Saying “Just farm gold if you wanna respec so bad. Nothings stopping you!!” is like saying “Just go farm honor outside BG’s if you hate doing battlegrounds. Nothings stopping you!!”.
Dual spec allows for players to do content and keep other parts of the game alive instead of letting them slowly die.
So your saying class design and the games content didn’t vastly changed when wotlk came out?
So we all imagined the bring the player not the class mentality, even the devs when they discussed it?
Maybe your just not talking to people? I know plenty of servers that are still having multiple groups running heroics, dungeons, heck even wailing caverns usually has 5+ groups running it depending on server.
If you feel your realm is dead, go to whitemame. It’s extremely active. I don’t play on that one but my old guild transfered there because they felt the way you do, they don’t want to play on a smaller realm, I personally prefer it because it means a tight nit community instead of doing things with strangers every day. I didn’t come to classic to be on a mega server and feel like I have LFD and LFR due to it being a mega server. If that’s the experience you want though, there’s your solution.
Sounds like your not using your gold wisely if it’s an issue for you, gold is VERY easy to get in tbc. Once P2 comes out it will be easy to get 200-300g a day from daily quests. And you don’t have to be perfectly optimized for heroic dungeons, if you pvp as a healer your pvp healer spec will be enough. Being in a pvp spec for tanks and dps means they have more utility like stuns, CC, interrupts, exc, or burst. Use it properly and you can do a heroic with everyone in a pvp spec as long as you are using correct gear and playing well (using CC, interrupts, minding your aggro, exc)
And if you’re going through 400g a day on respecs, you’re doing it wrong. You shouldn’t be playing tbcc as if it’s retail.
Retail player behavior is do an activity until you are bored of it then do something else then something else, exc.
Tbcc is scheduling your activities to balance then around cost, availability, exc.
Chose a day or two to do raids. Chose a day or two for arenas. Chose a day or two for BGs (you can use your arena days for this as well). And you can farm and do heroics in your pvp spec, just change gear.
You are trying to play tbcc as if it’s retail, THAT is the problem your having.
Or, they make a small change and people can play what they want to. Problem solved. Its wild you cant see that punishing players for simply wanting to play the game is a bad thing. Are you a dev by chance?
Do you play chess by acting like your playing checkers?
Maybe monopoly as if your playing tick tack toe?
Or do you play connect four like battle ship?
Stop trying to play tbcc as if it’s a different game than what it is. That’s the real solution. You don’t fix it by making it follow the Same rules as other games. If I wanted to play by those rules I would be playing those other games, not tbcc.
Half the day even on a server like whitemane a healer can easily be locked to every heroic and have nothing to do but farm, or no groups available. Do they just have to stand in shattrah? Single player IS part of the game. And making it a pain in the butt for some and not others has no point. It would be like making frostbolt cost 5s a cast, its pointless.
What are you even talking about? Farming gold for respecs is neither hard nor a group activity, it’s merely time consuming and a solo activity.
If anything dual spec promotes more social activities because chances are that other spec is being used for some kind of group play, BG’s, dungeons, raids etc… that the person otherwise wouldn’t have done.
Currently people tend to ask if they can take gear they aren’t specced for before rolling. And that may (MAY) continue with dual spec, but once you unlock dual spec you’ll see “I’ll heal, but…” and others simply not saying anything until the loot drops.
And you’ll get people stating “I’ll tank, but I want to roll on DPS gear” and then players get put in their awkward position of holding up the group being able to run versus the additional competition. The most I see are charging for runs (tanks), or reserving loot, but not stating they will tank or heal if they can roll on something. Because they aren’t respeccing for 50G and then respeccing again for another 50G.
Regardless the OP said this won’t affect people who don’t want to partake in it and it obviously will, even if you want to argue that people already roll on OS gear there’s really no denying that increasing the accessibility to play other specs will increase the desire to roll on gear not your current/main role. That’s just common sense.
