Tired of Lack of Tanks? Here's a Fix!

thats why i asked what character you were on you very, very intelligent person  and thats why instead of replying with the character name you said something stupid

I get groups right now as a blood DK. I really don’t buy into that myth.

Grow up man, if you are going to refuse to do your job don’t waste everyone’s time by taking a slot.

Healing is hard early in a patch, since people have no health and die to many mechanics. Tanking is hard in the middle of a patch, because you have to make the change from pulling small to pulling large, now that your group can handle it and is more impatient because they have done the content before. DPS is hard at the end of a patch, since everyone has amazing gear and tanks and healers are just chilling, so if there’s a problem in the group, it’s the DPS.

If you change from DPS -> healer -> tank throughout the course of a patch, you’re solid. :sunglasses: Plus, there’s the added bonus of not having as much responsibility the first time you see new content (as DPS).

Tanks with egos are the worst. I come from a background in healing, if I had half this level of self importance when I was healing I would have been cut first week.

  1. I’ve not seen this much bait since the last time I went fishing.
  2. You seem to power trip quite a bit.
  3. Who is your post supposed to be addressing exactly?
  4. I enjoy a good power trip myself.
  5. I’ve enjoyed this thread.

Grow up? What do you call someone being disrespectful to a player? Do you think people should just bend over and deal with that kind of abuse. There’s no reason People should be disrespectful or calling someone names in a dungeon for not understanding a mechanic we’re not doing a perfect job. And the beauty of being a tank is nobody can make me deal with it. But I agree tanks have a job to do. And if you’re going to hire a tank to do your dungeon then I suggest you treat that tank with respect.

Stick to other roles, please. This makes it clear that tanking isn’t for you and we have enough of a problem with the community thinking tanks are divas without stuff like this going on.

Tanking is not a difficult thing. We’re just beefy DPS who have an extra mitigation button or three to weave into a simplified damage rotation. We do not deserve special treatment for switching specs to do this.

PREACH! People need to be more compassionate in general. Mistakes only change the pixels on the screen. No reason to be unkind!

The only thing hard about taking is knowing the exact path to take or the mechanics of certain fights. People follow the tank because he supposed to know where to go but how does the tank know where to go if he has never given the chance to learn the dungeon without being disrespected in the process. How about instead of telling me what to play you just work on being nice to people.

Yep. Mistakes happen. Abuse is unacceptable and nobody has to put up with it, which is the point of the first post. Hence, “If a DPS is being a butt and people refuse to kick him,” - you know the guy.

Hence, why if I make a guild, the rule of thumb is going to be (if I decide to raid) - as soon as someone gets angry or exacerbated, raid night’s over. No point in getting mad over stupid things.

In my guild we just have set times that people commit to on raid nights. We did a full run once and now we’re just doing the ones on popular request until 9, then bed! (For other people, I stay awake until I can laugh at the sun)

A normal day on the internet. You are not going to single-handedly end toxicity by not doing your job because some guy says you suck. All you are doing is wasting like three people’s time because you have a fragile ego.

Bad tanks think like this. You are not better or more important than anyone else in the group. Most of the time you have the easiest job of anyone in the party.

I am a tank mate. I think tanks who throw hissy fits are the worst examples of tanks.

Lol literally all tanks are viable EVERYWHERE except for like mythic 27 keys…

Random queue is random results regardless of what you want to do

When people get angry, they make mistakes. When they’re tired, they make mistakes.

Generally, I find the raids that do the best are the ones who just burst out laughing when stupid things are done. There’s no reason to be at each other’s throats during a raid. Hence, why pugging’s not my thing.

I remember on G’huun, one person ran out to dodge a ball, but didn’t realize one was behind him, detonated both, because his instinct was to press the other way into the other orb. We laughed for like 15 minutes at him.

I think that’s lovely. We don’t use DPS meters anymore, and although we certainly aren’t the best raiding guild, I think that people are having fun!

You can think what you want but I don’t bend a need to anyone. Bottom line is don’t be disrespectful. You’re basically arguing that you think it’s OK for people to be disrespectful to other people. And if someone is disrespectful to you you should just continue on and deal with it. If someone doesn’t do something perfect or understand something, The correct response is to ask them if they need help or assistance. There’s a reason people wait so long for tanks. The original poster called out a lot of those reasons. If his reasons weren’t relevant then my queue time as a tank wouldn’t be instant.
