Tinker Class: Something Only WoW can do?

They aren’t being original - they are citing stuff that already exists and even the “ideas” that do not are actually things that have been done in other MMOs - including the “ironman” tank mech-suit.

Fel and scourge powers aren’t evil, thought. It seems evil because of the legion but warlocks use fel power without being evil, it was just the primary power of a evil force. Same with scourge, they were used for evil purpose by Lich King Arthas, and they can be used for good purposes like Bolvar has shown.

By your standards, the person who originally created the sword is evil because we use swords to kill.

It needs another post?

To some select people here. There isn’t a reason for someone to flip out over someone making a Tinker thread. They are just making a suggestion for a class that they would like to play, and there is not fault in that. Let people have their opinions and don’t go throwing hissy fits because they have a different point of view. So what if he makes more than one post, this is the place for it.

Yes and powerful technology can be used for good too. Look at Mekkatorque, or Gazlowe.
Both of which are obvious Tinker characters, and good guys.

Tinkers aren’t a unique concept, but they aren’t adequately done by most games. I Think WoW could do better.

This is in Contrast to Necromancer, Where it seems every RPG has a Necromancer class, and some of them are quite good!

Is there an MMO with a Mech suit to Tank in? Please give me directions.

They are undeniably evil power sources of power in this case though.

They already have something going with survival spec so with some new features and abilities it is possible.

Eh. If you read that Thread, it was focused on How the Zones and Races you see in WoW clearly show something that the Player can’t do. I stand by the points I made in that thread.

This thread is about how Other MMOs fail at something, and how WoW can learn from those mistakes.

which also was a thing in the warcrafts and earlier WoW, yeah it might not be original, but we are talking about WoW here, about Blizzard here, yes they are deccently original in some of there stuff, but a lot of their stuff has tons of referneces to other games, I mean look at Starcraft “TerribleTerribleDamage” enables Godmode, and in general most cheats are references to other movies or games. Alot of the unit voice lines have references to other things as well. Blizzard and their games have utilized other ideas from other things to make something fun for ages.

And to say it one more time, WoW has had plenty of mechs and mech “armor” throughout the expansions, espically with goblins and Gnomes. and BfA, just look at the West coast of Stormsong and there is a mech there.

Only because of who used it, all these powers are “a means to an end” persay. Tools of war.

The best examples by far, is Azshara and The Gnome Starting zone.

In Azshara you work with Goblins, you fight rival groups of gnomes, you build a mech suit piece by piece. Fly in a plane, it’s great.

and in Tinkertown, you have to clean up radiation leaks and oil spills, shut down malfunctioning technology, and eventually even go to the Dun Murough airfield.

Honestly, Doing these two zones makes you feel like there’s a hole in the class roster.

“tools of war” That would be a GREAT name for the Patch the introduces Tinkers. It’s got a ring to it like “Tides of Vengeance” or “Shadows of Argus”

To be fair, archers aren’t adequately done by most games either.

Agreed. But In WoW I can play as a Night Fae Marksman Hunter, and straight up be the Priestess of the Moon Hero from WC3. So there’s some unique fantasy there.

Yeah but let’s not say that the covenants are filling the gaps of class design…

I will not. most of the abilities actually feel thematically dissonant to the core idea of a class.

But one thing I’ve always loved WoW for is letting you feel like a hero unit.

You wanna be an Orc Beastmaster? You can.
Night Elf Demon Hunter? Yep.
Human Paladin. You betcha, with auras to boot.
Undead Death Knight. Of course! complete with an army of the dead.
Orc Shaman. Complete with Chain Lightning, and Feral spirits.

But what if you wanna be a Goblin Tinker?
:woman_shrugging:
I dunno. pick hunter I guess.

This is true and the reason I avoid it.

I just realized that side of things as well! Goblin Tinker was an actual Hero, just like our other classes, so its kinda odd that we cant be that Hero.

OOH that actually does sound pretty great! its simple but really i can say it in the same “epic title voice” kind of thing and it still has a good ring to it!

For Today, our foes will face the Tools of War
Yeah, dont hire me for titles or meaningful quotes/speaches lol

Is this really they case? that’s a shame. I guess If I reinstall I’ll try and stick to world content. Character progression in that game felt odd, and I gave up before I wrapped my head around it. I wanted to try Holosmith and Scrapper.

:eyes:
I Try and make that point on every thread, it’s refreshing to see it get appreciated.

Yeap. In WoW’s earliest devlopmental days, It took some big inspiration from Custom WarCraft 3 games. Blizzard saw that people really loved playing with the Hero Units outside of the RTS mechanics.

So, they thought, What If there was an RPG where you could play as Hero Units together with friends. That Idea lead to WoW, and here we are today.

Even all those years later, our most recent class is demon hunter, And they feel exactly like the Hero, Mobile and fast, turns into a giant demon, Immolation Aura, ETC.

There are some really cool abilities from the Goblin Tinker that could make its way into the class. Pocket Factory and Cluster Rockets would fit very well for the DPS/Gun (Sapper?) and Tank/Mech spec

Happy Friday!

Why? We’ve got megathreads for all sorts of things and they’re kept current. Blizzard encourages them instead of shoving other topics down with the same thing over and over.

There you go gaslighting again. Get a dictionary and learn new words. No one is upset nor overreacting.
