Tinker Class: Something Only WoW can do?

Yeah it is. Because it’s once every few days a new topic, instead of a megathread, like people use for allied races.

Nothing wrong with one thread. But one every few days? What’s wrong with a megathread, like people use for allied races?

Well. That’s good to hear. I’ll continue making threads whenever I find more relevant points to make.

Most Allied race requests boil down to one single point.
“I want this new Race”

Every time I make a Tinker Thread, the Thread is based on some substantial point or evidence I am trying to make.

:woman_shrugging:
If I don’t have a new point to make, I won’t make one.

For what it’s worth, I appreciate you showing up to the Threads and promoting their longevity.

Or just make a megathread and stop shoving other topics down for the same topic over and over.

ROFLMAO you can’t be serious.

Every thread you make the same points over and over. Put them all in one place for easy reference.

I suppose I could be.
To be honest I’ve never taken what I do here very seriously. It’s just a fun hobby while I clear my dailies, and while I pug groups for Mythic +. I’m leveling a hunter ATM.

Actually this thread is about how Other MMOs Fail at providing a Fantasy that WoW is really good at.
WoW is pretty cool and unique in that Regard.

This is what really matters, because you’ve given a lot of ideas and reasoning behind the Tinker class and how WoW can do it, and how it fits in, plus you’ve gotten me and a few others to also come up with ideas as well, and thats what really shines in the forums!!!

I love positive and creative threads. These are where I meet some of the most wonderful and positive players of the forum community. Even if I’m not a fan of the ideas, I still enjoy hoping in and reading what they have to say. I’ll take any creative thread, over a doom & gloom thread.

Thankfully Liianas keeps the Tinker class discussion active. I get a chance to see new people hop in, comment and give support.

It helps that there’s a seemingly endless wellspring of Ideas for this class.

People can usually agree on Turrets and Mechs and guns, but from there on out it may as well be no man’s land. Keeps it fun.

Don’t Worry, It will. Just not too often, Once a day was too much for me, and too much for the Forums. Now the threads will come when I have a legitimately good idea.

Where are these allied race megathreads? I need to start spamming it with the Goldlin idea.

Goldlin? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: do tell.

As for Allied races I’m not sure what I’d add. If I had a golden ticket to add whatever I wanted as a playable race. Lots of folks want ogres but I don’t understand the appeal.

If you make one, I’ll be there showing my support! I’m sure I’ll have some fun ideas to post.

Thinking on it as a more serious implementation, a better story for it would simply be a legion of goblin statues that are made out of gold, and then animated through magic to become slave-golems, and then later liberated by one of the factions

They’d effectively be really similar to the Forsaken with that story.

That is… Hilarious, and it’s a good point.

It does give me an Idea though.
If I was in control of races and could add whatever I want, I think I’d go with Steamweedle goblins or Blackfuse Goblins as a Neutral race. Give them a focus on Darker / Muddier / Yellow & Orange skin tones. And Represent them as a faction of mercenaries, Neutral attack dogs for the highest bidder. Give them more Militaristic racials to represent this as well. More industrial looking piercings, Dieselpunk stuff.

It’s completely selfish of course, I just like Goblin being displayed as an independent neutral faction instead of Horde only. Never made much sense to me.

Yeah they definitely need to feature the neutral goblin factions more. They’re pretty much entirely forgotten

I can’t be entirely sure on the canonicity of what I’m about to say, BUT:

I’m like 90% sure that Gazlowe is a Steamweedle cartel goblin, before he broke off to be his own boss after the 3rd war.

Which would mean that the Bilgewater Cartel is now being led, as a Horde military group, by a Goblin who isn’t even part of the Bilgewater Cartel. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

That doesn’t even touch on groups like the Venture Co. or Blackfuse company who go mostly unexplained. Goblins could use some touching up.

Why would a new class effect a profession? A class performs class roles. A profession crafts items for use or sell. The two have nothing to do with each other.

In fact, a Tinker class could actually BENEFIT Engineering by giving it Tinker-exclusive items to craft. Imagine engineers being able to craft mods to change the appearance of Tinker mechs for example. Imagine speccing into Goblin engineering and being able to change the robots produced from Pocket Factory from clockwerk Goblins into crawler mines. Imagine engineering being able to craft exclusive armor and weapons for a Tinker class like tech goggles and/or tech wrenches like Wrenchcalibur,

The idea that engineering would be negatively effected by a technology class is really one of the worst arguments around.

Wouldn’t surprise me, and it wouldn’t be the first time they’ve done this kinda thing . . . seriously why are hunter like ranger classes so rare in RPGs as a whole?

I’m not necessarily against Tinkers, but I think WoW’s resources would be so much better allocated improving their current systems, and most of what a Tinker would serve as would do a lot to improve engineering and could add some cool stuff to Hunters.

I find it rather annoying this game with like 10 different types of tech is missing the tech class trope that almost every other game has.

FF14 the pet used to be a turrent it was changed last expansion they had 2 one for aoe and one for ST.

I love GW2 eng and i think holosmith is a wonderful example of how WoW could implement Naru Tech from the dranei.

Generally speaking this happens because one ranged class gets made, and it gets overloaded with Ideas Instead of separating ideas into different classes. It feels.

A New class would likely not come in this expansion. They would hold off until 10.0, when they abandon most of these systems anyways.

Hunters are their own thing. They’re beastmasters, marksmen, and survivalists. None of what they do has to do with Technology. Keep it that way, It helps hunter feel distinct.

I Barely gave ff14 the light of day, as soon as I saw that Mechanist was exclusively ranged DPS and a boring mess, I gave up. That’s a nope from me.

As for Guild Wars, I simply didn’t get very far, I felt underwhelmed by the Character customization. I Really should give it another shot.
