Timewalking Changes: RIP Timewalking Sets 11.0.5 Changes

Not quite. Chrome Time-style scaling can be outgeared by ilvl (it just isn’t usually because it only goes 1-70), so level 80 characters who any gear above ilvl 554 will likely be more effective, and ones who have like 590+ will likely be breezing through.

Likewise low-level characters will be fine for the reasons you stated. Also currently Timewalking requires a minimum level of 30 to 45 - presumably Chromie Time scaling will remove that minimum level.

The problem will be for characters in the mid levels up to just below 80, and undergeared 80s.

Right now, Timewalking makes insane XP for the mid-levels and up to 80, and drops gear good enough that going 70-80 in it makes sense. With Chromie Time those characters will probably struggle a lot. If most of the group is geared 80s, it won’t matter overall, but it won’t be much fun for those who aren’t.

I dunno if your point is “tuning is bad so they should never try to make it better” or what but you should probably rethink that if so.

Good.

While this is correct, I have a feeling it will feel more amongst the lines of MoP Remix dungeon scaling.

Maybe i’m just overworrying.

The real problem I have with it all is not being able to use old items, though… :frowning:

And this is the worst part about it. It was fun to use them and made other players want to go out of their way and grab them

I did a TW dungeon today - 550ish iLVL bear. I tanked all thru TBC and know these dungeons inside and out. I had a Level 30 healer and they just couldn’t keep me alive until we pulled each trash pack separately.

How does the scaling work for tank to healer - the other DPS were between L45 and L65, so we were all over the place.

One very sad part about the change is the timing,

“Let’s make the change about one week before the 20th anniversary orchestra event in Switzerland. You know…… AFTER people have spent over $2,000, if not over $3,000, to attend the event.”

Hotel $1,000, plane ticket $1,300, bus $80, train $40, ticket for the concert $220?, a full suit, extra costs while there (food, souvenirs, etc…), etc, etc, etc… Also having to get currency exchange.

Had they made this change before I bought the ticket, I’d probably skip it. I’ll still enjoy it, but…. The thought of this change will be with me while I’m there and will make me rather depressed.

I thought of “hey, we could twink out toons at level and still use the gear, but……… oh yeah, we won’t have all of our talent points unlocked, despite doing a raid at the level.

UNLOCK ALL TALENT POINTS DURING THE INSTANCE and then lock them after leaving. Having toons with min max gear but are not talent capped is asinine, especially during trivial old content that people just want to get through.

Shame, shame, shame on the developer(s) for making this change, especially when Metzen is back, how did this change ever get passed legislation.

Azerite armor works, the essences don’t.

Emergent, fun gameplay that is perfectly in theme with the event must be completely ruined because Blizz wants to reduce efforts to tweak things so low levels can participate.

Classic blizz.

which is a bummer half the fun for me was equiping old stuff to use. but now there’s really no point anymore.

An entire emergent-gameplay player community with a busy Discord, multiple Google docs, and countless hours invested in testing and farming - cut right across the throat and tossed away - sad.

Imagine the uproar if they did something like this to the RP community.

You still have to equip the heart for the armor to work. -

The point to TW was to make old dungeons relevant again so…why can’t we use our old, weapons?

Ridiculous change, Blizz

Timewalking should be a celebration of old items.

Now streamlined for dev efficiency and completely ruined.

Didn’t they nerf the effects into the ground through?

Time metric/spent playing.

Some of them still work full value, the increase x spell damage by y isn’t super effective, but stuff like Demonic Commander the full 5 shards with baelful invocation.

How much of a bLizzard stooge do you have to be to defend this?
This is a horrible change.

Ah another one!

A change no one asked, no one wanted, and literally only implemented to waste your time.

Blizzard on a roll this week.

Yeah this seems like a weird change that doesn’t take into account that people from different levels will be queuing up for it. Also why was it even necessary?

Also, given that their scaling tech still seems wonky, I’m predicting it’s going to be an absolute mess for at least the next round of Timewalking Dungeons.
