Timewalking Changes: RIP Timewalking Sets 11.0.5 Changes

Half the fun of timewalking was the timewalking sets. Its a bad change imo.

So in order to make Timewalking “better” you have made all the items from older expansions obsolete? Sounds like the opposite of Timewalking… Makes zero sense.

You are literally making older content irrelevant and killing it in one strike
I hope they dont move forward with this change seems like no one asked for it nor wants it…

Scaling is so borked in Timewalking dungeons at this time. They’re full of one shots, especially of the levelers who are supposed to be in there at level 30. I think they are capable of doing this right.

Can’t wait for

Black Temple

8/8 mythic and 610 ilvl required

Also sucks that you can use legendaries anymore and that they removed tier sets and gems.

Big L for the devs

Putting my opinion in, because this needs to be on the top of the page.

This change is going to burn even more good will from the community to Blizzard. TW is essentially irrelevant content done for fun or levelling, neither of which needs accurate scaling. Let the players have some fun, and use their old sets.

Especially going into the 20th anniversary, the focus needs to be on saying thank you , not #*** you, to the players.

I hate this change, I had a TW set on alot of chars, I find it personally horrible. If it makes new 80’s garbo vs 600er’s or more later then it’s even worse.

This seems like an all time winning fun detected change.

In my world, timewalking would enable old legendaries and funky set bonuses, not remove them.

I don’t see how this change makes Timewalking more fun. For the vast majority of players, it won’t make a difference.

For a few who took pride in picking/farming the best timewalking gear or bringing out items they’d earned more than 10 years ago in some cases for another week of glory every few months… this change feels like such an unforced L that Blizzard wants to take.

my sub is cancelled but i was going to come back for the 20th Anniv event and level all my alts through TW for a couple of months. but with this change, i’m just going to stay unsubbed. good job, Blizz. someday maybe you’ll learn you’d make more money if you gave players fun content, rather than giving them tedious content to boost engagement metrics and token sales.

Yeah that’s beyond stupid.

Not only does this destroy an active community for literally no reason, it’s going to have a ton of unintended side effects.

Most notably, low level scaling is completely busted in WoW. Good TW items will be relevant for toons of the right level so what will you get? Twinks. XP-locked twinks.

It’s unclear how this will play out but certain levels will be XP-locked this way. Level 50s for HoA + Azerite gear. Level 30s because there’s a lot of gear that’s better than “standard” gear at that level. Both of these seems likely.

Thing is, currently everyone gets to enjoy the completely optional TW set gathering. Now it’ll just apply to XP-locked twinks.

All so level 10s, who will be completely busted, can partake in TW.

If MoP remix is anything to go by, probably alot of classes locking exp around lv 20 (depending when they can get a spamable AoE) and other twinks. Which given Blizz’s recent track record just might remove the ability to lock EXP :stuck_out_tongue:

I will miss running old legendaries and whatnot. Not only that some items that only work when you are in a certain level range won’t be usable at all (like the Lightforged Augment Rune)

There are no shareholders anymore. Microsoft bought all the shares.

i’m kind of surprised they’re “excited” to destroy one of the few unique modes left in the game.

not good.

You saw 20 twinks in Remix because you could use trial accounts that capped at 20. XP locking in Remix was possible but tricky. Basically you had to escape Pandaria. You could but it took effort so most people didn’t bother. Of course, Remix low-level scaling was made worse but the cloak. I think I saw level 20s with 100k+ threads, not that you needed it.

Holy Priests at 12 with Holy Nova + Rhapsody would be pretty devastating.

Since Retail has XP locking available to anyone for a mere 10g I think you’ll see a lot more hyper-optimizationn of abilities and gear.

I’m torn here:

On the surface, changing the scaling this way is, IMO, actually a good thing. It’s better to keep you with a set power level, etc., and then they could tune it accordingly to still be fun.

…on the other hand, I have absolutely zero faith that Blizzard will still tune it in a way that’s fun or enjoyable. Incoming TW dungeons at M+ difficulty with worse rewards than normal dungeons.

Also, for TW raids, since I currently can take the first 29 bodies to click on “join group,” now I actually have to care about their gear for the TW raids as well, especially considering the fact that there’s about zero chance Blizzard tunes this appropriately. Incoming TW raids that are harder than Mythic raids but drop normal raid gear.

And just as I was about to start farming a more serious TW set…
What a huge L.
