That’s the whole premise behind these 2 quests. “Speed run this dungeon hero, we need to save an inconsequential life!”. Timers are very RP friendly :
Nah, sunshine. I’m talking old school style. A lot of these tanks I see nowadays wouldn’t know how to los and moon mark if it bit ‘em in the rear, and called them darlin’.
Everything is doable. It doesn’t mean it is fun. And, frankly, from all of the QQ I see both in game and on the forums about the vault - why in the every loving frick would you be tryin’ to tout that as a defense? Like… wat?
Honey, you just blowin’ air now.
Did you even read OP’s post?
The trick to speed running dungeons is using all those techniques.
Also, “moon mark” ? DBM auto marks priority targets. Get with the times.
All things that, as I said, are addressed with a regular group. But feel free to ignore that and just be condescending.
Experiences from others and myself have said otherwise.
Not in pugs it wasn’t. lol
Not for everyone.
Proof positive you didn’t play back then. And I don’t talk with people who make things up, which you do so often around here, just argue for the sake of arguing.
Goodbye.
If they increased the difficulty of non-mythic dungeons so they could be ran normally then people would complain.
Cata launch had the best difficulty of dungeons, but people didn’t like it and dungeons have been training dummy difficulty ever since.
As long as the dungeons are filled with training dummies then people will continue to zerg them because there’s no reason not to.
I’m being condescending by expressing the way I see things?
Ok. You do you.
Then you weren’t playing except maybe in that tiny window of patch 4.0 at launch of Cata, what can I say. I’ve been speed running dungeons since we’ve gotten MC gear back in 2005.
LFD disagrees since… well since LFD has been a thing.
Yes, that’s why my Paladin has a Burning Steppes enchant on his Judgment Helm I kept around all those years, because “I didn’t play then”.
I feel you’re projecting here. You just can’t accept that Mythic+ didn’t invent speed running. Speed running invented Mythic+.
Not reading. You only want to argue just for the sake of arguing and don’t know what you’re talking about. As usual. Happy New year.
Because it entirely proves you wrong.
Good of you to admit it.
No, I provide proof I was there and I provide the truth of it. You just want to argue for a game that never exsited because you made a dumb argument and now you can’t just admit you were wrong about it.
That’s the truth of it.
I was there. Speed Runs since day 1. Speed running invented Mythic+, not the other way around. You are just wrong. Maybe you’re new to the game since Legion and didn’t actually know.
There are two types of challenges in the game.
One where you optimize damage to survive an encounter. Which are raids and mage tower type encounters.
One where you optimize damage to beat an encounter before time runs out. M+
Both have their place, but changing m+ to a survival type encounter would kill it.
There wont be some magic content where you can brute force packs down one mob at a time and get end game gear. If they balance m+ to a survival type encounter that just means instead of missing on time after 45 minutes you’ll wipe for a couple of hours until you give up.
I mean, technically both raids and M+ are these.
Mythic+ isn’t just “pull big, pull fast”, if you can’t live through what you pull, you’ll lose time and the speedier strat becomes to pull less.
The higher the key you go, the harder surviving bigger pulls is, the more likely you won’t make the timer.
Raids are also speed races. I don’t know a single encounter that doesn’t have a hard or soft enrage. Can’t make the DPS check in last phase Sylvannas because your transition burn was bad ? Well, you’re not killing it. Push those buttons a bit harder. It’s basically a race more than a game of survival, the mechanics aren’t really there to kill you as much as slow you down.
Basically, it’s the whole philosophy of WoW : here’s a bunch of stuff we’re throwing at you to slow you down, how fast can you get through it. Describes both raiding and M+ really.
Where did someone ask for this?
I just assume it’s implied with every “Remove the timer” request. It’s about gear, it always is. The problem with the timer is it gets in the way of some players getting better gear because they can’t time keys.
Then I’d suggest rereading the OP. Because it’s not.
Combining packs is just a tactic, a means to an end for the basic goal of X amount of damage in Y amount of time.
And, yes, you could view raids and m+ as both X amount of damage in Y amount of time, the difference is the failure mode. In raids it’s always a wipe. And you can spend weeks wiping on one boss. M+ would be horrible with that type of failure mode.
No disagreement from me on that one.
It’s the “timers are bad” crowd that doesn’t seem to understand that you can’t apply that logic to dungeons.
The OP is based on a flawed premise : that the timers came first.
We’ve established that tanks have been speed demons since 2005. So the OP is irrelevant.
It is. It’s just hidden with some convoluted moral argument that it makes tanks play in way they deem less valuable.
Nah, not for everyone. I still run CoS, Strath and Scholo, just because they’re my favorite dungeons, because of the lore behind them. Even if new Scholo is nowhere close to what old school Scholo was.
