Timers Are Bad, M'Kay?

or people who hate timers could just ignore the timer

This has happened like maybe once for Me. Also the timers themselves aren’t what you are actually not liking, it’s more so the communities reaction.

Your class/spec can greatly influence your experience in M+ and that’s mostly due to timers. The timers require you to basically AOE every pull, thus specs are chosen predominately around how well they AOE and everything else is secondary. This creates a massive balance issue as classes/specs that don’t AOE well are left out so in turn they want buffs. When they get buffs though their utility can make them more useful than other classes that could just AOE so those classes now want utility.

The result is that classes are pushed even more towards homogenization because timers mean their other strengths can’t be shown. If there was no timer on M+ then strong CC specs and single target DPS specs could be utilized without feeling like your at a disadvantage. Sadly that isn’t the case and absolutely everything takes a back seat to AOE DPS.

Timers pigeonhole players into certain playstyles and that’s just not great for class diversity/design.

Except

Quoted, because SO true.

Welp you can tank yourself, set your own grp up, or ask one you join if the run is going to fast paced

Yes, some people have solutions, but that’s not really the point.

They’ve made them way more fun for me

Lol then what is the point? To gripe being subjected to something thats minor and impacts one aspect of one end game path?

You can even do high level keys that are designated for just completion. Probably take longer to fill but still possible

Meh

Mid expansion most players are so powerful they can run to the end of the instance and clear trash all at once.

After the first few times, what’s adventurous to you in these dungeons?

Except that’s not true at all.

People were speed running through dungeons way before M+ was ever conceived.

I remember TBC 10 minute Heroic Shattered Halls run. Just because we could. Because pulling pack by pack slowly and carefully is boring when you have enough gear to just roflstomp through.

When I leveled my Warrior in Mists, I leveled Goblin with the belt. Healer never had a chance to catch up. I also couldn’t die. So it was a wash.

The point was in the OP. Mayhaps reread instead of just laughing at people.

Not like they do now. Especially in Cata, back when mechanics were a thing. And no one was speed running Magisters Terrace or dungeons back when CC was needed. Lowbie dungeons now see more chain pulling than has ever been seen before since M+ became a thing.

Depends on the toon I am running, and the group dynamics. If you have an active enough imagination, most things can be fun when viewed in slightly different ways. New people to the game? Make it a fun thing by taking the time out to teach them. Geared group? Cool, Imma switch from heals and we can two tank this for lulz. I queued in to a rando RP group? OK, neat, I’ll follow along and have fun with it.

Not everything has to be a GOGOGOGOGOOMMGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOO thing. In fact, back in the og days, it definitely wasn’t, especially not when starting out.

And, well, having as many accounts and toons as I do, you learn to spice things up. A few times running these dungeons? Nah. Easily, hundreds upon hundreds.

Im not laughing at anyone but allright

Oh yes, like they do now. I don’t need to bring back my Temple of the Jade Serpent annecdote do I ?

At the tail end of mists, Daily Heroics were 5 DPS more often than not, no tanks, no healers.

And then they nerfed the dungeons and it was right back to business as usual.

Look, you don’t want “speed runs”, be there day 1 of the expansion when people have no gear and are learning the dungeons. You’ll get your nice dungeons then. After the gearing is done and people have run the dungeons enough they know them, it’s speed time.

Always has been. Mythic+ didn’t create this. You got the cause and effect reversed : People speed running dungeons like no tomorrow created Mythic+.

Maybe not at your gear level. But people most definitely were.

Doable in m0 and as you work your way up.

Also doable on the current system if you group wants to. If you can finish you’ll still get eod loot and a vault.

Timers seem pretty rp appropriate. You’re going on an armed incursion against superior numbers, would you really be farting around?

All the stuff you described just needs a group that’s okay with it, and all 3 could probably time up through +10 by accident unless you’re deliberately stopping.

Dungeons designed for mythic made the heroic and normal dungeon experience horrible.
