Thoughts on WoW Token in Wrath Classic

lmao, Blizzard deleting replies. My original post in this thread is gone.

Ill go ahead and repost what i said.

This is nothing more than a cash grab under the guise of combating RMT. No one is falling for it, also trying to convince your players that this is somehow a good thing is laughable at best.

nope it will never happen. history has shown us time and time again how no matter how much you push people will still do it.

This is absolutely a lame excuse too say ‘hey we’re going to put wow token too stop gold farmers’ idk maybe actually ban their computer software from literally doing the bot program, invest in actually monitoring regions that are known too be gold farming places even with VPN’s

Going ahead and putting WoW token in classic WoW was a line that should’ve never been crossed when you guys haven’t thought of more ways too ban these accounts.

Literally just ban people who buy gold and the bots will stop themselves.

This isn’t rocket science

Have you seen anyone lately multi boxing with key cloners? No? Why’s that? I’ll tell you why because a system was put in place to deter. Then that system was enforced to the letter.

It’s about how the system is setup and how it’s enforced. Yes there will always be those who try to skirt the system but when it’s a proper system it will catch most.

This is pretty close to nailing it. A permanent ban is pretty extreme, but I would still be fine with it. The typical 2 week suspension is hardly even a punishment. I’d say they could at least make the person miss an entire phase of content. Make them gone at least long enough that their guild would need to replace them.

2 week punishment and gold set to zero with a month ban for repeat offenders would completely stop gold buying in its tracks.

Once it becomes common knowledge that you will 100% eat a ban then people stop buying and bots stop existing.

Look at turtlewow 0 gold buyers because they get banned instantly. Nost was the same.

This team just doesn’t care about classic. They don’t care, they don’t care, they don’t care.

Literally what Blizzard should’ve done here as well for people getting caught in the act. Literally all their characters they have the gold they bought or even put into multiple characters have their currency set to 0 even after a ban.

Literally can do the same too all the bots as well if they spot them, find out which bot has a character that’s high level too ban that account etc.

I enjoy the game just fine. No, I have no intention of skipping content. I do not want to spend 3 months or more grinding out gold for riding and flying. I see no point with the age of this content to relive the portion of the content I did not enjoy the first time around. Purchasing a token makes me want to play more, not less. A token is a quality-of-life improvement. I want to play the game, not grind the game. In other words, I want to enjoy the game. I spent more time grinding for gold than enjoying playing the content the first time. Buying one WoW token allows me to grind out more gold quicker on one character to support additional alts.

how much profit was this making them? if it was as big of profits as the current gold farms then they would still be doing it.

bad ideas are just bad. Doing this will not win favor with the majority of the community.

So then you don’t enjoy the game. Got it.

Ever heard of butterfly effect? Yes lets ban some MT who bought gold so their raid can get screwed over on the next reset, or even better, the current reset. Maybe that person who got banned is not the MT, might just be the one shaman/ priest/ dps or whatever you need to fill the raid, and now you gona wait 2 hours to fill that spot Ever heard of butterfly effect? Yes lets ban some MT who bought gold so their raid can get screwed over on the next reset, or even better, the current reset. Maybe that person who got banned is not the MT, might just be the one shaman/ priest/ dps or whatever you need to fill the raid, and now you gona wait 2 hours to fill that spot now. Come next week someone in the group might just say say fk it and use that 2 hours of their life do something else instead. Great, and the next guy, and the next guy etc. Lets be real here, replacements are hard to find, we aren’t getting new blood on a daily basis, and it takes time to level up, gearing up, learning fights, even if there is new blood.

Oh and you think people be straight coming outa the ban once it expires? They either quit the game entirely because they found something else to do, gym, work, another game, or keep doing whatever they are doing. Never have I heard someone’s life gotten worse after they quit wow, have you? It’s a video game in the end of the day, nobody is here to follow your stupid rules to make their life more difficult. Not to mention Blizzard is the most analistic video game company there is, period. “we gona take your subscription money and stop you from using our service, because your account doesn’t belong to you.” Can you imagine if Gaben just wipes out your steam inventory one day just for fun?

Enough with the trash talk, lets get back to the original topic. WOW token is a good implement, but it’s late, just like Chronoboon Displacer from vanilla, people only got to use it for like 5 weeks after playing hide and seek with world buffs for a 1 year, you already lost enough players. I was ready to stop paying $20 a month, I imagine a lot of people did, but now the players can just waste time instead of time and money.

And no, they are not going to hire random narcissistic Ahole from the forums to “fix” their game so they can lose more money.

For me, the token creates an undesired “bridge” between in-game currency and real-world money.

For example, I probably would not have purchased the Tundra Mount for 16k gold if, at the time, I knew that 16k could fund almost 2 months of game time and save me $30.

Now, every gold-spending decision becomes something that affects me OUTSIDE of the game. That’s sad. The game should be a sealed microcosm where we can forget our real world troubles for a little while. The token literally monetizes every aspect of the game.

Bro ban one MT for buying gold and bet your butt nobody in the raid is buying gold again.

Do you know how discouragement works at all?

This is an honest take and why gaming today is just not fun. Linking Real world to the online world has ruined the escape, and created undesired stress. Young people won’t understand this the way us older gamers do, or if they do not in the same way as we do.

It has infected every single game out there even games that are single player. It is predatory and creates a rift between rich and poor, the exact thing we were all trying to escape once upon a time.

So gaming no longer fills the void it use to for me. I am almost ready to leave it behind forever.

This is a terrible take. When enforcing the TOS and banning accounts, they should NEVER have to consider if the player is a crucial part of a bigger group or just a loner.

Your GM/MT/MVP got banned for breaking the TOS? Tough luck, it’s their own fault. It also serves as a lesson for everybody else.

You think the boys in the raid going to blame MT for buying gold or blame the video game company for banning their MT when the raid is screwed? I think latter.
Every heard of the phrase customer is always right?

Yes. I literally had my MT get banned on Nostalrius for buying gold and we all collectively called him an idiot.

Guess what? None of us attempted buying gold after that. I forgot about it until just now. I’ve literally seen what you describe happen to me.

You’re so dumb to think that allowing cheaters to continue playing is better “for the health of the game”

If you’re reading this Kai you’re still an idiot.
