Thorim problem

so we have been trying thorim hard mode and he keeps 1 shotting tanks with unbalancing strike where he reduces the def of the tanks, he does a double hit with unbalance and a normal melee that hit at the same time and just 1 shots our tanks we keep Bressing but he does it almost every time and theres no time to taunt to save them. is anyone else having this issue?

Tell your healers to git gud… Your tank got a flash of light. Your paladins are bad, flash of light shouldn’t even be on their bar.

what? confused…

Most bosses especially the hard modes need to be treated like patchwerk. Healers should be just spamming their biggest heals the incoming damage is insane.

Are you cycling defensive CDs like divine sac/pain supp and spam healing? HM Thorim puts out some decent damage, it’s important to make sure your tanks and healers know what’s up and that the raid is capable of utilizing the lobes of their brains to move out of the bad stuff. Ofc this goes for all hardmodes, 10 or 25 man.

This is why tanks are getting gear prio in Ulduar!

After stack 5-6, put a cd on the tanks for each unbalancing strike.
Either self CD, or external.

Get your Heal/Ret pallys to learn how to use Dsac+Sacrifice+Bubble combo on the tank, its a complete additional shield wall.

Even with failing dps, dying to lightning, we could kill him with 12 stacks, and tanks survived.

Have a clear plan before your engage the encounter who will use which cooldown when.

means your kill is taking too long. Get better dps. Get better healers. Get better tanks.

You have to start having your tanks / healers using damage reducing cooldowns before the unbalancing strike hits.

At some point in the fight, that burst exceeds what the tank can survive without them.

Once it starts getting scary, have a rotation set up between tank self defensives / pain suppression / divine sac / etc., So that you can extend your fight longer without battle rezzes.

No. Assuming you are talking about the 25 man run from the guild your druid is in, here is what I see from your logs…

You are 6 healing, which is a lot, most groups are 4-5 healing. This means your kill time will be much longer and Thorim gets a stacking damage buff the longer the fight goes.

You have no tank CD/external rotation. The only external used on a tank was Pain Supp, it was used when the boss was at only 2 stacks, and it was also overlapped with the DK’s vamp blood. You have 3 Holy Paladins and none of them used Sac or Divine Sac. That is 6 external tank cds that went completely unused, and one PS was used at a bad time.

Set up a cooldown rotation for your tanks. You’ll need to start rolling them around 4 stacks on Thorim. Make sure whatever tank is taking unbalancing strike has either a personal wall or an external up. It’s also really common for tanks to die at the end on your first HM kill. Once Thorim gets high stacks he will just 1 shot tanks even through CDs. That is the soft enrage and if you are hitting 10-11 stacks and he’s not almost dead, you need to drop some healers or figure out how to get your dps to do better.

Just a thought, not sure if this would actually help mitigate a bit, but the main thing about this unbalanced strike is skill is lowered in defense by 200, what if you overload defense for just this one fight a bit to help mitigate some of the damage so the other tank can taunt during the unlucky second hit? Use elixir and other things to temporarily boost defense?

Druids are still crit immune after Unbalancing Strike thanks to Survival of the Fittest. So they wouldn’t even need to overload on Defense. They just lose a bit of Dodge with the -200 Defense debuff which is still manageable. You could just have a Druid solo tank it and cycle CDs on them after 5 stacks.

EDIT: Nevermind, I picked a bad log to look at to test this theory. They can still be crit.

100% wrong.

But we can “negate” the issue by using resil to regain uncritable.

100% right and I have logs to prove it.

Narrator: “He did not have the logs to prove it.”
