"thnx for killing the forsaken" love forsaken fans

I’m kind of mystified as to why they’re writing the racial descriptions to talk so much about defending and protecting Azeroth for an expansion that has nothing to do with defending and protecting Azeroth.

I think they mean you the player character. Like you’re defending the living lol.

In BFA the Forsaken player character defended Zandalar and the Vulpera, pretty sure those two things are living.

Yeah, but these descriptions are for brand-new player characters, as a description of what to expect from the adventure your character is about to embark on. New orc PCs aren’t going to “stand in defense of Azeroth” any time soon; they’re going to play through a faction war and then go fix death.

Oh I was talking about the Forsaken one which talked about defending the living.

Well even in BfA you are still trying go defend Azeroth(points at necklace) and Shadowlands will still have us defend Azeroth from whatever scheme the jailer/Sylvanas has. The entire theme of WoW has been defending Azeroth with a side of faction conflict.

Hooray! The Forsaken are no longer Saturday Morning Cartoon villains, but are now basically Batman. What an upgrade!

If I still played, I’d be totally down to make a NuSaken. I can only guess that Calia is a source of leadership and inspiration for them now.

To everyone else bemoaning the death of the evil Forsaken… did y’all REALLY think you’d be able to get away with all those warcrimes and torturing and murder and Elune knows what else without some sort of consequences down the line?

I honestly believe this is a step in the right direction not only for them, but also for the Horde. I really think the Horde pride of old can be recovered this way.

Now all we need is some sort of implication that the “loyalists” end up dying along with Sylvanas in her raid (or with Nathanos) and the cycle will be complete. Hell, I may even re-sub to see it happen if it goes down that way!

Your cultist is showing.

They wanted to be evil edgelords in a game that more or less forces you to be a superhero.

Please tell me you’re joking.

The Alliance doesn’t get to dictate what the Horde does.

This is an even more ridiculous “idea” than Battle for Azeroth, and that’s really saying something.

When exactly did you first start playing World of Warcraft? Please go back and re-play anything from Classic all the way up to Cataclysm.

Yes it was. He specifically sent us to save Moira when he thought she was being mind controlled.

What consequences are we actually facing? Those things apparently just didn’t happen or they were never our fault to begin with.

Completely disagree.

My character played BfA as a Sylvanas loyalist. They won’t kill him off. My choices simply didn’t happen or they were changed without my character knowing that they changed. Tastes like disappointment.

“Altruistic” was never a term I thought of when I considered who and what the Forsaken are. The new race description is incredibly forced and completely detached from the narrative the race has played out.

I keep thinking of Illidan - “I AM my scars” and I feel that the Forsaken are as well to some degree. The players lose something fundamental if Blizzard just chooses to erase the Forsaken history, their lore, and the journeys we took with our avatars.

I hope they change it cause it kinda sucks.

It’s supposed to be both an introduction to BfA for new players, and a time agnostic zone for the veterans.

Kind of got a point. I’ve six undead toons and I consider a lot of quests non-canon behavior on my more evil aligned ones. Hilarious though it was to see my Unholy DK being invited to Hyjal to throw pestilence, plague and mutilated dead all over the sacred nature place.

It also never said why they’re defending the living. IRL humans have protected livestock from predators for a very long time. I just don’t know how thankful chickens would be for us preventing fox attacks if they knew our intentions for them.

Especially when they have absolutely no reason to.

The entire backstory of the Forsaken (note the name) is that they’ve been rejected by the living, and have accepted they’ll never be a part of that world anymore, hence why they joined the Horde in the first place.

This sudden fixation on making every race some kind of bright, shiny, angel of happiness is a complete and total insult to the Horde. As a player named Degas put it in a similar thread, it’s the classic old myth of “white man is here to rescue brutish savages!”

The Horde, and especially the Forsaken, don’t want to be “saved.”

I am not! This is a great day for you indeed. :grinning:

Totally agree!

Hohoho! Surely you jest. That was a good chuckle, friend.

Ah! Well I started playing back in 2005. And unfortunately, I can only go back to playing Classic as it were. The remaining expansions are currently unplayable!

The consequence of having your entire story up until now completely wiped away. Which, I would say is a blessing rather than a curse. But most posters here apparently disagree.

You will see the light, eventually! :sun_with_face:

Great! Then it’s likely he’ll be forced to become one of the “realizes I made a mistake” crowd.

Ah, well we often have to face disappointment when we make the wrong choices. :frowning:

An evil narrative cannot exist when you play the selfless hero, hero!

Well, it is their game. You just pay to play it.

There’s an easy fix for that though.

They’re actually not–you can still do almost any questline from those expansions–but don’t let that stop you from using it as an excuse.

Yes. We do. Pray that Blizzard never decides on some ridiculous ret-con for the void elves, lest you know how it feels.

Forcing someone to “admit” they made a mistake is literally the definition of tyranny.

Literally no character in this game can be described as a “selfless hero.” You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

Arguably, Anduin could be described as such and his constant preachin’ makes him insufferable. He’s such a borin’, lawful stup… good… stereotype.

I wouldn’t wish such a wipe on any player who was invested in the lore of any race in this game. Why you seem to find enjoyment in it… is disturbing.

I haven’t paid to play WoW in years. That said however, I already stopped playing some months back.

The lore of the universe is what got me into Warcraft all those years ago. Since Before the Storm I have felt estranged. I can’t say that my character can exist in this world as it has changed throughout BfA.

I feel like I lost my hobby cause I just can’t get into it anymore and remain in line with whatever the current canon is.

There’s no foundation left for me to role play my character, and I guess I can’t really start over again because I can’t bring myself to disregard the story I have taken my avatar along all these years.

It makes me sad, and obviously I will move on.

Exactly. Literally every priest in the game has as their mission to “spread da word of da Light.”

That’s called an agenda.

Christ these forums. Guys, it’s two sentences in a new system that is very much a work in progress.

Deciding this means they’ll retcon all the Forsaken lore and utterly rework their racial fantasy from the ground up is just catastrophising.

I mean, if it weren’t on top of everything they’ve done throughout Battle for Azeroth, I’d agree, but…

They took away Sylvanas. That killed the Forsaken more than anything. Let’s go diving into lore.

Each Forsaken member follow their queen for various reasons: fear, loyalty, no where else to go.

The Forsaken were strongly discouraged from revisiting places they had loved in life. Their home was no longer Lordaeron but the Undercity. Sometimes books from outside were confiscated, and it was stated that there was no need to remember their human history as only the history of the Undercity mattered.

Above was from the Free WIll section of WoWpedia.

The Desolate Council were killed because they dared question Sylvanas.

Forsaken were never allowed to have any lore outside of Sylvanas because she had such a strong grip on them. It’s Sylvanas or true death, again seen with the council. So this new phrasing didn’t kill Forsaken as much as taking away Sylvanas. Now you’re without your leader who had such influence over you, she forbid you to even have any remembrance of your humanity. Whatever you do now is your choice.
