The true death will be a ‘death by a thousand other mmos.’ Amazon is going to pump out 998 of them in the coming years. IMO.
I agree.
Can you please refrain from lying to the forumgoers with clickbaity titles?
next month , the game will be at 15k players and you will still say the game is going strong
google trends , steam numbers , go to the ground but it’s ok bro FF is going strong
Could you please share your special insights as to how you came to this conclusion?
Your unironically correct for the first time in this thread, or the many others you made just like it.
if it’s so great why do ff14 players seem to be subbed to wow just to troll about how great ff14 is instead of… idk… actually playing ff14? “oh i have 93759379998887897g so its free to post!” yeah, but your sunk cost is so high in wow that you maintain that sub because wow lives rent free in your heads. yikes.
I play both.
WoW does some things better, and FF does some things better.
I complain about he things WoW does terrible, and complain about the things FF does terrible. I praise the things WoW does well, and praise the things FF does well.
If the amount of each seems skewed, that’s because it is.
i’ve tried to play ff14 multiple times. it was sold to me as some great casuals game that treats players so much better than wow. i love to quest but the quests were so god awful boring (and i’m level 70 on my potato) that i rage unsubbed multiple times. at this point, for me, even as the Empress of Casuals i cannot even dream of wasting the $15 a month to play that game. the entire game is set up for people like me but even i prefer wow because it just does everything better. a few of my wow friends stopped playing wow and play ff14 now so it’s not like i’d be alone. i’ve never played any other game at all that i found so… boring. i can sit in ZM for hours just running around killing rares and have the time of my life so it’s not like i have ungodly standards. and given that 2 of my favorite games of all time are single player ff games i really wanted to love it. but talk about a swing and a miss, for me. the community is also completely passive aggressive and gross and spend all their free time bashing wow instead of actually playing ff14 (not just subbed here, but on reddit and other places) that it’s just… eh.
Unlike wow, FFXIV understands people will play for a bit leave and come back later. And they understand that’s okay.
It’s really not for everyone.
People keep trying to get me into Lost Ark and it’s just not my jam, after about 15 hours invested I just wasn’t digging it. You gave FF a shot and it didn’t pan out for you and that’s that.
I’m the kind of guy that just plays casually, loves minigames and crafting, and doing stupid stuff in town with random people, and FF appeals to me for all those reasons. WoW does druids, which FF doesn’t, and I think playing the same characters I’ve had for 17 years is a big draw for me and one of the main reasons I play WoW on-and-off still. That said, I still play my Everquest Delf Necromancer once and a while too for the same reasons.
of other MMOs i really like runescape 3 on steam but even then once i discovered melvor idle i essentially stopped playing it. it’s not a sunk cost thing for me to play wow either. i just came back from a long break (which i do sometimes when i get burnt out) but for me nothing scratches the MMO itch the way wow does. when i feel like playing a multiplayer game i play wow.
Both games have things better than the other.
Can’t we enjoy both? I love FF and my always angry Au Ra, but also love my Night Elves and this Void Elf., alongside my other characters.
Granted, they where so popular they stopped sales of the game for 2 months due to servers being too congested, as such they could not gain more subsribers…
potato servers don’t make a game more popular though. they sold less than 1/4 of shadowlands pre-orders (SL was 4m, ff14 was 900k) SL has sold about 7m copies atm which is nowhere near something like wrath’s level but ff14 would need like 934875938475938453485 servers to match SL let alone wrath.
That’s the thing though, I am confident they would had sold more, but they pulled the game off sale in december to early febuarary saying the large surge of players is too much for servers to handle, as such they did not gain new subsribers due to ppl not being able to buy the game.
I told you all that FF would never kill WoW. I have never liked FF games. They weird me out.
It also is not even the same style genre MMO that WoW is so people who love WoW will not love FF as much and people who love FF will not love WoW. Neither one took eithers subs. FF does not belong in an MMO market. I play Lost Ark now too. But not FF.
The only people that FF stole away from WoW were people who were always looking for that style but could never find it… and also…many FF first time players have unsubbed and gone to WoW. FF is losing subs super fast now too…even faster than the first time they began to lose them. So…as i said before… FF is a fun game but DOES NOT belong in the MMO world. It was never set up to be an MMO. They had to force so much lore and gameplay into it that did not belong just in order to make it an MMO. Very slim chance that someone will like both MMOs… they are almost opposite of each other.
you can be confident about it at all you’d like but they actually haven’t. you can cross realm with their equivalent of battlegroups but they haven’t done it yet and i assume it’s because yoshi doesn’t feel confident enough in making the long term money back that it would cost to do it. it’s not like realms of today in any game have to isolated islands the way vanillas were. it’s the same cope with classic players when classic came out and they were convinced that classic had more subs than wrath because they apparently thought wow servers could have 3948759348753498573495834 people on them, and even argued about server pops when linked blue posts explaining it.
its almost like. expansions get massive influx of players for the first few months of release before numbers drop down to about normal.
within margin of error, your numbers show that the game basically retained the full number of active players and had a massive spike of new players for the content patch.
OP why do you care about FF14 so much
He gets validation from it
because they stoppeed selling the game for 2 months? where are you missing this on my posts in your rambling?
