You might be old, but you are pouting like a 14-year-old.
Itâs bigger than quest text. I donât understand. Not to mention, you can make everything bigger with the overall UI size scale.
I really donât know what else you want. Thereâs a slider for the entirety of the game to make it larger or smaller. Thereâs the UI customization itself to make things huge or small. Thereâs a boatload of accessibility options, colorblind optionsâ heck, I even found the motion sickness option for dragon riding.
I donât think they want to read that they can adjust stuff because plenty has been said.
Heck both of us have posted images and I even posted an image with sliders for things like font and box sizes.
Plus anyone that canât read the menus probably needs to wear glasses to see what they say . I know I do .
So is it a real problem we have here or is it some one finding something to complain about.
You can basically resize all the various frames in the âeditorâ modeâŚ
Can you get to the menu to read it in order to start resizing in the first place was my point.
Just go to your local drug store and buy a set of $10 âreaderâ glasses. Hell I keep a pair on my computer desk for reading fine print my aging eyes have trouble with.
I donât have an issue.
But in the same way they added color blind, motion sickness, etc. presets - adding another one for bigger text is not unreasonable.
Because unlike those, you have an easy way of addressing it yourself. I mean if someone is having trouble reading the default text in the DF UI, I imagine they are having problems reading a lot of other things in RL.
So do they.
This is probably one of the dumbest things Iâve ever read. âHUR DUR THEY CAN PLAY THE GAME JUST FINE BUT WE NEED THE TEXT TO CLICK ON EDIT MODE TO BE BIGGER BECAUSE REASONSâ
Has existed for ages. Geezus.
You mean the game icon whose size is dictated by whatever settings are set in your OS when launching the game? Or the keybinds you should have set and memorized for playing?
How do you know they donât only struggle when they then need to read the chat or quest text, or some other random thing on HUD.
Do you know absolutely anything about UX? Doesnât sound like it.
* Select **Start** > **Settings** > **System** > **Display**.
* If you want to change the size of your text and apps, choose an option from the drop-down menu under **Scale and layout**. Learn how to change just your text size in [Make Windows easier to see](https://support.microsoft.com/help/27928/).
Microsoft figured it out.
It wouldnât cost Blizzard anything to create a preset and just put it in there using the editor they already provide. In fact, they already provide 2 presets (classic and modern - which as far as i can tell barely do anything different).
Wrong. Thereâs an entire graphics setting for the size of the ENTIRE GAME UI.
Jesus Christ, how much more bullcrap could you possibly come up with??
So did WoW. A long time ago, genius.
I was with you up until this sentence. Itâs wrong and toxic, stop it.
Yeah exactly.
Are you being intentionally dense?
There is a difference between needing to read text going on in the screen and/or messing around with your character itself or the FOV or things being rendered on the screen.
The option you are talking about âui scalingâ is buried in the graphics settings (along with FPS, resolution, and other video settings) and it modifies the entire game ui (nameplates, actionbars, map, EVERYTHING at once).
When a visually impaired person, may only need the text to be larger and nothing else.
It was literally mentioned in the second post.
Players want more fine-grained control.
Why the hell are you arguing when you KNOW thereâs a setting in WoW to change the text and UI size???
You clearly are.
Literally no one is talking about anyoneâs character. What are you even talking about?
Yes, you should. Because youâre purposely acting obtuse.
Youâve been able to JUST change the font and size for over a decade.
I straight up just told you. This is a reading/comprehension problem at this point.
Where is the setting in the base ui to change the font/size only? I am well aware you can do it via addons.
Or on the chat window (which wonât solve your quest log).
And again⌠not sure how to make this any clearer for youâŚ
So this option is out - we are not trying to alter the size of every single element on the ui at once.
Not sure how to make this summary more clear.
You really are purposely acting obtuse. Youâre literally saying that people canât use the new UI editing because they canât read it. Yet they use the damn menus right now. Suddenly, now they canât use a menu theyâve been using for over a decade??? Your comments make zero sense.
I literally showed you the size of that UI editing. Stop looking at it in a small window and open it up to cover the whole screen, genius.
This is probably one of the stupidest conversations Iâve had in a while. âPeople who play the game and can read stuff right now canât read the same stuff anymore to get to UI editing!â
I just canât evenâŚ
Youâre done. Iâm ignoring any further replies from you, because my IQ canât handle this.
And if you canât figure out a freaking font folder that weâve been able to do for over a decade, thatâs your own fault.
First, a big âno thanksâ to all the people who thought they were posting a big dunk on the older or visually impaired people by showing us where all the elements we already knew how to resize could be resized, when those werenât the ones that we were talking about. Specifically, people wanted the game menu functions in the lower right and target frames to be bigger, neither can be resized in Edit Mode.
That having been said, the answer is to resize the UI. Itâs just hard to find the UI resize setting now, with all the settings jumbled around.
It was super fun to find, because all the options are mixed around and in new places now, and despite having a search function putting in âresizeâ and âuiâ both donât bring anything up. But if you go to Options > Graphics thereâs a box you can check for âUse UI Scaleâ which can then be moved up and down. 100% is HUGE. I usually roll at 75%:
Youâll note that at first this will make everything HUGE. But from here, now you can go into Edit Mode and make the action bars and other resizeable elements smaller.
That should make things comfortable again.
Theyâve also, I noted, made the contrast on the menu options in the lower right slightly better, and also re-added hover-over text that was missing for a while.
That was a joke weâve moved past ages ago.
What I am telling you is that there is no simple way to modify the the text without resizing the entire screen or just going back to addons.
Again, you have done nothing other than try to berate me and keep pointing back to a setting that Iâve told you repeatedly does not solve the problem.
Dude, seriously? How is this a âgood user experienceâ? Go and start tweaking system settings at the file system level.
Especially considering thisâŚ
remember Câthun skip. Pepperidge farm remembers.
Now editing map assets is bannable, but they also werenât keen on other more benign aesthetic things.
So maybe fonts lives in a weird grey area.
This seems to be how you properly address the problem. Scale everything to get text larger, but then go into edit mode to make the action bars, etc. smaller again. So kudos on the find.
Or again, just use addons.
But back to my original point, it shouldnât be this difficult in a ârevampedâ ui that is supposed to include more âaccessibility optionsâ.
Weâve had this type of discussion before: Bad eyesight - any way to make text bigger? - #24 by MelĂ´dy-whisperwind
The only people that would have a problem reading it would be people with vision problems and they would already most likely already be wearing glasses to take care of that problem .
I know this because I have to wear glasses to read the print on the menus .
You seem to be bringing up an issue that more then likely anyone with that problem already has a solution for and if not heck forget $10 go to the store and get a pair . Problem solved
