I personally think there needs to be a scaling slider on all UI elements that do not already have a scaling option. I think the unit frames are too small, while some other players think the minimap is too big.

Full disclosure: I have good eyesight and a fairly large monitor.

I was hoping to be able to get rid of UI add-ons but their rework doesn’t go far enough. Not all elements can be moved, not all elements can be resized. If you’re going to do a rework, you should make sure you have at least the same amount/kinds of features the add-ons you’re supposed to be eliminating the need for have.

And I really dislike the mini map now with the removal of being able to choose what you want to track and have show up on the map.

Still amazing they don’t have the rapid shaking of the mouse to temporarily increase size feature like macOS has had for years.

Yeah, it’s a pretty great feature, particularly for users of larger/multiple monitors. Wouldn’t mind if other OSes copied it.

you’re sure it’s not proprietary?

Am I missing something here? You can customize the new UI to whatever sizes, where ever you want. What is the complaint? Maybe I’m dumb?

Even if it is, Microsoft and Apple have a patent sharing agreement (which is why MS Surface tablets/laptops have MagSafe-like chargers while no other laptops do), so MS could implement it in Windows and once the ActiBlizz acquisition is completed, in WoW without issue.

Not all elements can be resized, unfortunately.

I think it’s still there? If you look above the mini-map, there’s a microscopic icon you can click that allows you to choose what you want to track just as always. It’s just really hard to see, just like the ‘you’ve got mail’ icon which is equally microscopic.

I never had any issues whatsoever with ElvUI. Sure it may take a while to set it up, but its worth it

If you see what I’ve written here in the chain, I’m pretty clear in what can’t be changed and is my main issue with the new UI.

The icons under the bags cannot be resized, nor can the tracking, mail or up/down action bar arrows.

The only way to resize them is to resize the UI which is all or nothing. It will resize your minimap to huge, the action bars to huge and the microscopic tracking, mail, character, talents, etc. under the bags becomes readable.

I’ve not been able to find anything to change those otherwise. I’ve even tried to resize the ui and shrink those down and there doesn’t seem to be a way, they’re tied together.

Is the new UI stuff on the PTR? I might be able to poke at it and see if an addon can be written to scale those buttons specifically.

Well that’s unfortunate. Blizz has been pushing out older folks a long time though, this is nothing new. The marketing reels they develop about becoming more accessible are just lip service.

there it is

We really should not have to depend upon addons going forward since they decided to update their own UI. But judging by what I’m seeing and reading, I’ll probably stick to using my addons because I just cannot see any text that small…and heaven forbid if its in red.

I have to adjust my text in not only size, but coloring since some colors like red are impossible for me. Not to mention that there are a lot of color blind folks that play the game and depend upon the color blind options they can obtain.

I’ll be 78 in November and its really frustrating to see that they have not provided adequate change options to help me see what they want me to see. If they were accommodating, I would have no problem adjusting text size and color appropriately.

That doesn’t sound too smart to me, because I don’t get the sense WoW is a big hit with today’s youth. Their audience has been aging along with their game.

Yeah I’m not a huge fan of the UI changes.

Would be nice to have a toggle for original UI and such.
