This new expansion hates old people

I’m calling BS on this. I have a 1440p monitor and I can make the icons absolutely gigantic without even touching the UI scale. And if I adjust the UI scale, I can make basically one button the size of my entire screen.

As always hopefully more options for accessibility get added to the base UI without addons. But the new edit mode and UI is a massive set in the right direction for allowing people to setup their UI for how they want it, while still having some addons for minor adjustments.

Okay, how do you make the icons larger without affecting the UI scale? You can call my inability to find anything BS if you like, but if you know a way, please share.

I’ve not been able to find a way, despite trying a number of things. I simply want two things:

  1. Mail and tracking icons bigger.
  2. Character, talent,etc icons larger.

If there’s something that allows scaling of those two things, it’s a big win for me.

Right, because every single person with vision problems operates under your specs, yeah? They all see exactly like you do?

Stop it.

I genuinely hate victim posts like this.

I have had horrific eyesight my whole life and the new UI is fine and can be easily customized to fit your needs FAR MORE than the old UI. Failing that, you have weakauras.

You people wouldn’t know real elitism if it beat you over the head with a broiled lobster. Pointless victimhood over something really trivial.

You just don’t want to get used to it, thats the reality.

You can adjust the icon size of the action bars when you select them in edit mode. (What I assumed you were clicking on lol). For the minimap, bottom right icons you would have to adjust the global scale. But you can adjust the global scale then make the action bars/chat smaller.

The Minimap tracker icons are I think the exact same size they’ve always been. So if they’re an issue now, they’ve always been an issue. Hopefully that’s something that gets adjusted. Shrug

While I agree that all the UI elements need to have a resize option for now you can adjust the UI scale in Settings until the size looks good and then use the Editor to move stuff around.

I wasn’t referring to the action bars. The action bars are fine in the new UI.

I’m not talking about the minimap itself. The minimap itself is fine.

  • I’m talking about the icons beneath the bags on the lower right side.
  • I’m talking about the mail icon, as in ‘you’ve got mail’.
  • I’m talking about the microscopic set of binoculars above the mini-map that allows you to tell the UI what you are tracking.

If you know a way to resize those things, please share.

And why is my name plate in the bottom middle of the screen now instead the top where it has always been. All these changes kinda make me wonder if I am even going to play Dragonflight at all.

Because leaving in the top left has been a well known bad idea for awhile now. But hey, edit mode exists so you can always move it back XD.

You can increase the scale size of you UI to the point that barley 2 action bars and unit frames fit on screen

You can adjust the size of action bars at least with the new UI

Yes, thank you, I know. I don’t want the action bars bigger, they’d block my view of the game.

You can scale UI scale and the resolution in the options.

Yes, I believe I mentioned. Unfortunately, it scales everything: Minimap, action bars, as well as the icons I want a little bigger. And there isn’t a way to scale those things back down as far as I can tell.

Well. That’s why I will still be using bartended and sexymap and weak auras

I’ve never felt the need to change my UI but I guess I’ll have to start looking at add-ons that still work when DF comes out.

Best advice get ElvUI, you can scale every single element of the UI individually

Thank you! I’ll check them out. It’ll be good to have options.

The OP shouldn’t have led with a generalized title referring to “old people,” then. Even if we gave the OP the benefit of the doubt that he’s just making a few well-intentioned suggestions, it doesn’t apply universally regardless.

Don’t try to brush off what you said, on to someone else. You made a highly farcical comment. You got called on it. And now you are trying to defend it.

No.
